Welcome to The Politocrat. I'm Omar Moore. It is Tuesday, February the 4th, 2025. On this edition of The Politocrat, we try to tell you Elon Musk is in the process of a coup of the United States federal government. We told you, and told you, and told you. That and more coming up next.

Well, it is Tuesday. It is raining today.

here in San Francisco, California. We need the rain, and I really wish this rain had come prior to January 7th for those down in Los Angeles, in the Los Angeles area, because, you know, maybe things wouldn't have been so horrific as they were, because the rain definitely would have helped. But such is life, and really harsh life, and I think we've already forgotten, some of us, that almost exactly a month ago, the wildfires broke

Did so much devastation. And as I said. I know people who've lost their homes. You may know someone. Or some people who've lost their homes. People of all walks of life. Whether they're poorer. Whether they're richer. A lot of people have lost their homes. People in Altadena. Which is a predominantly black middle class area. Just north of Pasadena. Lost their homes. You had people like Billy Crystal.

lose his home. People all over, Cary Elwes lost his home. He's an actor, who Billy Crystal is as well. So this touched everybody, people who are not well-known and people who are well-known, people who are black, people who are white, people who are Latino, people who are Asian. There are all walks of life here, people young, people old, who lost their homes in an instance. So I do want to

Remember that and put that out there because I think some of us have forgotten that this has happened. It arguably could be the most damaging fire in U.S. history. It's already the most expensive fire damage wise in American history in California history.

And so we are at a point now, this fire and these fires, multiple fires, could be the most expensive in the history of this country. So I want to spare a moment for the people who are struggling right now with this situation and those who've lost loved ones even more so. It's been a horrible time. This year has been awful so far. I think anybody in the United States,

or most people here would agree that this has been an awful year for the U.S. already, and we're only into the second month of that year. And so we've got that going on. Of course, a lot of other things going on. We had these horrible crashes last week.

The first air disaster inside the U.S. Well, there have been many air disasters inside the U.S., but this is the most deadliest, the most serious one inside the U.S. in over 20 years that took place last week. I believe it was last Wednesday or Thursday where we had that collision in midair of two air aircraft.

Well, I should say the helicopter. Let me put it this way. I have a helicopter and a plane that were both landing at the D.C. airport in Washington, D.C. And everybody was killed. All 67 people dead. You know, it was just horrible. Three people in the helicopter, I believe it was. And then 64 people on a jet plane.

that was run by a subsidiary of American Airlines and the Black Hawk helicopter that was doing, I think, some exercise drills for continuity of government drills. Ominous, but that's something that is done in all administrations for exercises. Although I think with this administration that's here now, we're going to have that possibility where we've got a situation where, anyway, I'll talk about it,

where the government of this country is going to be destroyed, federal government, and I'll talk about that in a few minutes' time. But I just wanted to start with the review of what's been happening in this last week. Remember what happened after we lost all of these lives. We've had the...

idiot who's in the White House now, you know, with a press conference where he started to blame black people, people who have disabilities. He was blaming people

Who are members of the LGBTQIA community for this crash. I mean, he blamed all of these different groups of people for this crash. Oh, they're not intelligent. And you know what he's saying about that. He's going back to eugenics. Oh, we need people with superior intelligence. Oh, yeah, right. So what he's saying is he wants white people intelligent.

who are supposedly going to do all of this because he thinks they have superior intelligence, which they do not. This is back to the eugenicist bullcrap and the racism that Donald Trump wants to espouse and is espousing because he's a racist as well. And so you had him, you had Pete Hegsiff, who's the newly sworn in defense secretary and some other official there making fools of themselves. And

and looking really stupid, by the way, while a compliant White House press corps just lobs softballs at them and carers and doesn't really challenge them at all. And so this is what you've got now. And you have someone attacking diversity, equity, and inclusion. And yet the pilots of both of these crafts were white, right? So, you know, this is

This is crazy. We don't know what the race of the... Not that it really, really matters. It doesn't. None of the races of these people matters. What matters is their competence and infrastructure. And...

We don't yet know who the air traffic controller was. That information has not been released yet. I'm sure at some point it will be. And we will see what happens. I tell you, I don't think the person was black or brown because if they were, that information would already have been released. It would have been on photographs and on your phone. It would have been in your email box. It would have been online.

On the front page of newspapers everywhere. Had it been a black person or a brown person. So that, I can tell you, that air traffic controller is not, I mean, I don't know for sure. But I would bet you, and I could lose that bet. But I would bet you that that person is not a black person or a brown person. That's what I will say there now. But we'll see who exactly it is when in time. It's now been over a week, just about a week almost, since this horrible accident occurred.

And there's been a video of it. And so that's just become really sad. And then, of course, a day or so after that, we had the crash of a plane or helicopter. It was a plane, small plane in Philadelphia where at least seven people were killed. So we've had a really horrible, really, really horrible start to this year. We started the year with what happened in New Orleans, California.

where there were 17 people killed there with a terrorist attack in the French Quarter in the early hours of January 1st, January 1, 2025. We had that same day, the same thing happened. Well, not the same thing, but an attack outside of Trump properties in Las Vegas inside of a vehicle, a Tesla vehicle that Elon Musk, of course, is the owner.

company that he owns. And one person was killed, the person detonated themselves. I mean, this is very ominous stuff. All of this is just really ominous. And so, you know, the stuff that's been going on over the last week is just absolute madness. But, you know, we told you this was going to happen. These tariffs that have been thrown around.

The economic terrorism and the disaster capitalism that Donald Trump is unleashing now, not just on the United States, but on the planet. With these tariffs and bullying Canada, bullying Mexico, lying about fentanyl crossing the Canadian border, when of course the actual numbers of fentanyl that have been seized at the Canadian border is massive.

0.2%, 43 pounds in the fiscal year of 2024. How about that? Now, these are federal statistics, and this has been quoted by Daniel Dale of CNN on CNN.com. Federal statistics show U.S. border authority seized 21,889 pounds of fentanyl in the 2024 fiscal year. 43 pounds of that was seized at the Canadian border. 43 pounds.

That's 0.2% of the fentanyl seized in the 2024 fiscal year. So this nonsense that Donald Trump was telling you, this lie, oh, that this is about fentanyl and there's lots of fentanyl and Canada's not done enough to deal with fentanyl, they've not done enough to handle this problem, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, lie, lie, lie, lie, lie, is just that, another lie. And

21,148 pounds of fentanyl was seized at the Mexican border. So that's 96.6% of the fentanyl that was seized in the 2024 fiscal year by U.S. border authorities.

So this is just a bunch of nonsense about Canada. And then you're ticking off Canada. You've got Canadians booing the American national anthem when their Canadian teams in sports are playing American teams. Understandable. Because all of this is just a bunch of nonsense. It's economic terrorism. It's disaster capitalism. The markets reacted to it at the beginning of yesterday with...

A 700-point drop in the Dow. The markets across the world were affected. The Nikkei was down. The Financial Times Index was down. All of these players, Standard & Poor's 500 was down. The Nasdaq was down. All of this is down, and they finished down. Now, of course, during the day yesterday, you had the news that Mexico...

And the president of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, had a conversation with Trump and they agreed. It was characterized like this in the media. They agreed to have the tariffs delayed for 30 days. And the bottom line is, is that they are supposedly going to be putting another 15 to 16,000 Mexican soldiers on the border today.

to try to stop fentanyl. This is already what Mexico's already doing. They've already been doing this. They were doing this under the Biden administration. So this is the thing, you know, there was nothing here that Trump did to claim victory. But of course, when you don't read the news and you're not engaged, like his base are not engaged and they only care about the cult of him because they are cultists, then they're going to sit there and think that somehow

Trump got some major victory out of this. No, he didn't. First of all, he said that these tariffs would happen on Tuesday, February the 4th, today, and that nothing would stop them from happening. Well, something did stop them from happening. And this is a two-way street because the Mexican president said, according to the Financial Times today, that the U.S. had agreed to help stop the arms trafficking campaign

See, that didn't get reported very many places did it now. You know, I didn't see that yesterday. But all of these places like CNBC was telling you, their financial channel was telling you, oh, there was a win. Oh, there was a win. There was some success today. No, there wasn't any success today as far as Monday was concerned with this tariff thing because the tariffs didn't go into effect.

for either Canada or Mexico, because again, like the Mexican president, the prime minister of Canada, the outgoing prime minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau, has had these tariffs paused after a conversation with this orange criminal. Now, again, with the conversation that President Scheinbaum had,

She conveyed to Trump that there were some concerns from Mexico over the smuggling of sophisticated weapons from the U.S. This is really me reading from the front page of the day's Financial Times that were being used by criminal groups. She added that the U.S. had agreed that Donald Trump had agreed to help stop the arms trafficking. Now, you see, that didn't get reported widely in the American press.

Because, you know, the media in this country, the corporate news media, wants you to believe that somehow this criminal compelled Mexico to just give in without any concessions, which was not the case. Mexico was already putting guards on the border to prevent fentanyl trafficking, to prevent

arrest that flow of trafficking. They were already doing that under the Biden administration, but would the press in this country tell you that? Of course not. Of course they wouldn't report that on their news broadcasts. Of course they wouldn't. Canada did the same thing. They were already taking measures to deal with this, but would the press report that? Of course not. Of course they wouldn't. And this notion that there's this illegal immigration issue

Flowing from Canada into the US is a bunch of lies as well. Daniel Dale, CNN.com. Canada makes up 1.5% of border patrol encounters with migrants. And this liar says they've allowed both of them, Canada very much so, they've allowed millions and millions of people to come into our country that shouldn't be here. They could have stopped them and they didn't, end quote. Now that's a big lie. It's a big lie.

6.9% of the 2.9 million nationwide encounters, end quote, with migrants by US border authorities were at the Canadian border in fiscal year 2024. 6.9% of the 2.9 million nationwide encounters. Let me say that again. 6.9% of the 2.9 million

nationwide encounters with migrants by U.S. border authorities who are at the Canadian border. That's 198,929 encounters out of 2.9 million. It's just ridiculous. So again, when you actually look behind the headlines and behind the news lines, if you will, to facts, and thank you, Daniel Dale, for breaking this down.

You begin to see what the truth is, the actual facts are. And all of the things that Donald Trump is saying, surprise, surprise, are lies. You find out that under the Biden administration, Canada and Mexico had agreements to do what they were doing with drugs and with all these things. So having this idiot in the White House telling them, well, you've got to put troops on the border,

They're already doing that. So they didn't give up anything. Oh, we agreed to spend $1.6 billion. That's in their budget already. They didn't have, they didn't do. See, the thing is, this is how stupid this is. Donald Trump did not win anything yesterday. In fact, he lost because he didn't carry out the threat. He didn't actually do it because there's no tariffs on anything to do with Canadian products or Mexican products.

And he also got heat from some Republicans on this as well as Democrats because they got in his ear over the weekend and told him that this is going to have untold damage on the American consumer, which it will, which we told you it would. And he backtracked. And so the media were throwing all this bluster and just...

carrying water for this orange disaster and people who aren't attuned to the facts or don't read or don't consult credible news organizations and the Wall Street Journal by the way is one of them even though their editorial page is the most conservative thing about them and you've got and I've talked about the Wall Street Journal being a even though it's owned by Rupert Murdoch for god's sake it's still a damn good newspaper and the Financial Times is a damn good newspaper and

And the likes of the Associated Press, darn good publication, ProPublica, and these other sources that are actually very good. And so if you don't consult these sources, you won't know. And if you don't watch Roland Martin Unfiltered on YouTube, youtube.com forward slash Roland S. Martin,

and you won't know, that's from 6 p.m. Eastern to 8 p.m. Eastern, Monday through Friday, then you won't know about these things in the news, that you're not being told if you're watching the national news on cable here in the United States. So keep in mind that as you might be able to hear the rainfall at the time I'm recording this, that the lies are falling as well. Remember, truth crushed to earth shall rise again.

That was the rain, dear listener, this morning in San Francisco, California. I do hope that the weather is the way you would like it at this moment. I do hope you're well. Thank you very much for being here on the Political Grand Theory Podcast. It is Tuesday, February the 4th, 2025. I have to say that the main portion of this episode is going to be devoted to something that you might find very troubling and very uncomfortable about.

I need to play this for you because you need to have a deeper appreciation for just how serious this is. For those of you living in the United States, if you are, dear listener, someone who lives in the United States, or even if you are not living in the United States and you know someone who lives within this country, you need to listen to the rest of this episode. I am going to play you about roughly 13, 14 minutes or so of this.

a press conference that took place yesterday amongst some Senate Democrats. And you really need to listen to this. And again, I'm going to play you a portion of the press conference and I may play you the rest of the press conference. I'm going to play you 13 minutes of what was roughly a half hour. So you're going to listen or you're going to hear, pardon me, let me say you will hear for the next 13 minutes

the start of the press conference held on Monday, the 3rd of February, 2025, inside the Senate press room, where Democratic U.S. Senators really did sound the alarm on what I'm going to be talking about for the rest of this episode. And I think they will lay it out very clearly to you. So brace yourself for this. And I want you to really understand just how serious this is. Now,

Before our very eyes, an elected shadow government is conducting a hostile takeover of the federal government. Last Friday, Doge forcefully gained access to the Treasury Department's payment systems and to the most sensitive information of virtually every U.S. citizen.

Donald Trump basically handed Doge the social security data of virtually every American citizen. Donald Trump gave Doge access to America's personal tax refund data. He gave Doge access to people's Medicare and Medicaid benefits, disability payment data, veteran benefit data. Worst of all, we don't know what Doge intends to do with this information.

If you want to know how an unelected shadow government operates, look no further than Doge. Doge staffers, whomever they are, now have unprecedented access to the most sensitive payment data in the entire federal government with no transparency, with no guardrails. And guess what? The one independent watchdog who could have provided oversight was fired by Donald Trump over a week ago.

The Treasury Secretary must revoke Dozier's access to the Treasury payment system at once. If not, Congress must act immediately. That is why Leader Jeffries and I are working together on legislation, which we will introduce, to stop unlawful meddling in the Treasury Department's payment systems. We must protect people's Social Security payments, their Medicare payments,

tax refunds from any possible tampering by Doge or any other unauthorized entities. Let's be very clear. Doge is not a real government agency. It has no authority to make spending decisions. It has no authority to shut programs down or ignore federal law. To give Doge a chokehold on Treasury payments is outlandishly dangerous. It's like putting a tiger into a petting zoo

and then hoping for the best. It's impossible to overstate that this is playing with fire. The Bureau of the Fiscal Service, which oversees these Treasury Department payments, executes over one billion, billion transactions a year worth six trillion dollars. If these payments were ever intentionally or even accidentally halted or manipulated, it could paralyze our economy if we're not careful. One mistake

and people's social security benefits could freeze. Disability payments, aid to veterans, loans to small businesses, they could all be endangered. The Treasury Department is already using extraordinary measures to ensure we do not default on the debt. If Doge's careless meddling caused us to default, it could trigger a worldwide financial crisis. This all begs an obvious question: What does Doge really want with this data? What possible reason

is there to give right-wing extremists people's Social Security payments, Medicare payments, and personal information? Will Doge try to halt Social Security or Medicare or Medicaid payments? God forbid. God forbid. Will Doge cut funding to programs approved by Congress that Donald Trump decides he doesn't like? What about cancer research, food banks, school lunches, veterans aid, literacy programs, small business loans?

How do we know Doge won't use its access to the Treasury to enrich Donald Trump's billionaire friends? What if they go after business competition of Doge's leadership? It is laughably naive to look at the wealthy billionaires who run Doge and take them at their word that all they care about is efficiency. Give me a break. The Treasury Department must revoke Doge's access to the Treasury payment system at once.

We must halt this unlawful and dangerous power grab. Doge has no business anywhere, anywhere near the federal government's payment systems nor America's private data. Senator Murray. Well, we're two weeks in, and it is already painfully clear this is the most corrupt administration in our history. And it's putting our economy, our government, and our most at-risk communities in serious jeopardy.

In particular, we learned that Elon Musk now has access to the Treasury Department's most sensitive payment system, handling $6 trillion every year and managing nearly all federal disbursements.

It's a system that contains extremely sensitive, personal, and commercial information. And I've been hearing from people across my state who are truly alarmed about what Musk and his associates having access to this system could mean for their data and for funding that they count on.

Let's not mince words here. An unelected, unaccountable billionaire with expansive conflicts of interest, deep ties to China, and an indiscreet axe to grind against perceived enemies is hijacking our nation's most sensitive financial data systems and its checkbook.

so that he can illegally block funds to our constituents based on the slightest whim or wildest conspiracy. Funds, mind you, that Congress passed on a bipartisan basis. Some Republicans are trying to suggest that Musk only has viewing access to Treasury's highly sensitive payment system as if that's acceptable either.

But why on earth should we believe that, particularly when he is saying the exact opposite loudly and repeatedly for everyone to see? What funds will Elon target next? Life-saving medical research? Housing assistance? Food banks?

We already know he is falsely attacking faith-based organizations that help people and promising to cut off funds based off conspiracy theories. The world's richest man has vowed to cut off funding that helps the least among us? Think about that. And next, think about how many dollars he himself makes from government contracts.

and the Trump administration is handing the keys of the Treasury to him, it does not get more blatantly corrupt than that. And let me underscore just how dangerous this is, because now that Trump has handed over Treasury's checkbook, what if Elon decides he doesn't like how Ford is getting federal funds to build an EV battery plant? What's next? All Elon has to do is say, oh, they're woke, and he can convince Trump to illegally cut off those funds.

Maybe Elon will decide he doesn't like that Blue Origin and not SpaceX gets a contract, so he wants to gum up the works on their payments. Private corporations and competitors take note, and anyone who thinks that surely won't happen has not been paying attention.

Now, make no mistake, Trump and Musk have absolutely zero, zero legal authority to hold up any federal payments that are law. But that has not stopped them so far. This country is still reeling from the chaos of last week's blanket spending freeze and Trump's illegal EOs to withhold funds are still not yet revoked.

Trump and Musk have yet to find a law they think applies to them. That is not how things work in this country. We have a democracy. We have checks and we have balances where the president is accountable to Congress, where we pass the laws and he implements them. But

But some of my colleagues across the aisle seem to be forgetting that our democracy doesn't work by magic. We have to do our part to hold the president accountable. Our job is not to say yes to everything any president does, no matter how lawless or harmful. Democrats are pushing back with the tools that we have. We'll speak out, we will press this administration, we will open investigations, and we will demand accountability.

The one tool we do not have is the majority in this Congress. So that means our Republican colleagues have to say enough. We need them to join us. We need them to stand up to the corruption and lawlessness and stand up for the people they represent. Thank you, Senator Murray. And I got horse flying all night, so no filibusters from me.

Our finance investigators got confirmation from whistleblowers late Friday that the Treasury Secretary had turned the keys over to the Musk hatchet squad. And here's where we are now. It is clear that unqualified and unaccountable people have seized control of the flow of taxpayer funds and a trove of extremely sensitive data.

They are seizing the tools you need for a coup. Their first target out of the gate wasn't anything to do with fraud or waste. It was a religious charity for poor people. If Donald Trump cared about improper payments, he wouldn't have fired the inspectors general. Nobody should fall for that bit of misdirection. Now, a few hours ago, Trump claimed that Musk only looks at payments

and doesn't have the authority to shut any down. That's Donald Trump. It's pretty clear, folks, that Musk sees it differently. As Trump and Musk continue targeting Americans they don't like, there's nothing to stop them from cutting off Social Security, Medicare, or Medicaid, penalizing cities and states that defy Trump's illegal orders. And a lot of us care deeply, as our constituents do, about privacy.

Musk has access to the personal information of hundreds of millions of Americans' bank accounts, tax data, social security numbers, home addresses. If people are creeped out, and you heard from Senator Murray how folks in the Northwest feel about this,

Elon Musk and his hatchet squad having your bank accounts, your home address, social security number. Trust me, folks in the Pacific Northwest think that this is way out of bounds for government. The Musk hatchet brigade has infiltrated a goldmine of data that every foreign spy and every corrupt actor would love to see.

It is a prescription for nightmares. Let's remember that Musk reportedly couldn't get a security clearance because of his financial ties to the Chinese government and his other foreign connections. That's the guy, folks, who's now got his hands on the personal data of hundreds of millions of Americans and some unknown number of businesses and groups.

Last point, the Trump administration caused chaos in Medicaid and other services that are important to Americans last week when they shut down the primary payment portals to states and social service agencies. These are incompetent people. They don't care about the damage they're doing. And now they may be in charge of the tightrope walk the Treasury has to do to avoid defaulting on out-of-debt payments.

We're one mistake away from economic catastrophe. And if that did not make you nervous or send up your blood pressure, nothing will. And that was yesterday, part of a half-hour press conference that Senate Democrats held inside the Senate press room. Now, I doubt that what they said there was covered in any real appreciable way.

in your evening news, in your national news, or really anywhere, perhaps except for C-SPAN. But you just heard three United States senators, all Democrats, talking about what an unelected person has done. And really, it's a coup. As you heard the senator there from Oregon, Ron Wyden, say in that last part of what you just heard, which was, this is a coup, the ingredients of a coup.

When you seize payment structures of a government, $6 trillion, you are using that as leverage and holding the country to ransom. And you have control of the financial infrastructure of the federal government. It really is that simple and that plain. And I'm in some ways happy that the Democrats have put out this press conference. I know that most people in the country didn't see it.

Because I've been talking forever about where the hell are the Democrats. The Democrats had a long time to plan for this. And there were reports last year that the Democrats across the country, actually, and in federal government, were planning to, were coming together and drawing up plans of how to deal with this. But from what you heard there in the press conference that took place yesterday, and I'll play some more of it later on.

It's only a few more minutes of it that I'm going to play, because there was a Q&A as well afterwards, which I don't have any real desire to play. Maybe I should. But the point I'm trying to make here, dear listener, is quite simple. Steve Bannon, that racist and criminal, had been telling you for more than 10 years now that it was the plan, the plan, of people like himself and others to destroy the administrative state in the United States.

That's something that was well known to everyone, to Republicans, to Democrats, and to the average person. If they casually looked at the news, just casually looked at the news, over the last year you would have known this. Just before Steve Bannon went to jail last summer, he was talking about this.

When Steve Bannon was released from jail after, what, three or four months in late October, just five days before the election, he continued to talk about destroying the administrative state. He'd been talking about it for years. And really, hardly anybody paid attention to it. And what you are seeing now with this takeover of these agencies is absolutely a coup.

It's criminal, it's illegal, and it's certainly unauthorized. And when you have someone who is not elected doing this, it's absolutely a coup and it's absolutely criminal. There's no question about it. Even if you were elected, this is a crime. Your social security number, your bank accounts are now in the hands of a racist, criminal, unelected billionaire.

That is oligarchy for you. That is kleptocracy for you. And that, dear listener, is a coup. The question now becomes, what are we going to do? Thank you. So I just want to be clear about what's going on here. The system that makes sure that your granddad gets his Social Security check is

the system that makes sure that your mom's doctor gets Medicare payment to cover her medical appointment, and the system that makes sure that you get the tax refund that you're owed has been taken over by Elon Musk.

And every organization from your state government that uses federal money on that bridge project to the local Head Start that takes care of little kids while their mommies and daddies go to work is now at the mercy of Elon Musk. Maybe you get paid or maybe you don't because now it appears that all of us work for Elon Musk.

Elon just grabbed the controls of our whole payment system, demanding the power to turn it on for his friends or turn it off for anyone he doesn't like. One guy deciding who gets paid and who doesn't. It is not the law, but it is the reality. Now there's a second problem here. It's not just payments from the federal government that are now in Elon's control.

Elon and his handful of friends now have full access to your personal and financial information that's in the system. Your payment history, your social security number, your bank account numbers. Elon now has the power to suck out all of that information for his own use. Now, whether it's to boost his finances or expand his political power, it is all up to Elon.

And there is a third problem. In order for this handful of programmers to gain access to our $6 trillion payment system, we don't know what safeguards were pulled down.

Are the gates wide open now for hackers from China, from North Korea, from Iran, from Russia? Heck, who knows what black hat hackers all around the world are finding out about each one of us and copying that information for their own criminal uses.

Donald Trump and his billionaire buddies are determined to take over this government to make it work better for themselves and worse for everyone else. And this is just the start.

As we gear up for the tax fight, it will become even clearer that Trump will open the doors for his billionaires and giant corporations to find more ways to loot the government at your expense. Meanwhile, everyone else pays more for groceries, more for housing, more for prescription drugs, and more for health care.

When unelected billionaires start ransacking our government offices, this is not business as usual. Nope, nothing is normal. We are living a nightmare created by Donald Trump and Elon Musk, and we need to wake up.

We need to use every tool we have to fight back. And in the Senate, we can start by saying no to dangerous Trump nominees like Tulsi Gabbard and Russ Vogue. That's it for me. Go ahead. I just want all of you to imagine yourself a foreign correspondent. How would you cover this if this were in South America or Central America or Sub-Saharan Africa?

How would the coverage change? If you don't like an agency, if you don't like a spending provision, propose a bill, pass a law. That is so foundational to the American system of government that I don't want to race past this idea that you can wave away a federal law because you don't like it.

And so it is both an outrage and an illegal act, but it also gives us some confidence and the public should have some confidence. The law here is absolutely on the side of the American people being in control of taxpayer funds through the Congress, through the Congress. And so they are depending on some sort of sense of swagger and inevitability to storm into buildings and take over the servers.

and to run the databases, and to relieve people of their duties. Like this is some hostile takeover of a tech company. This is your government. And you can hate parts of it and love parts of it and be neutral about other parts of it, but it's still your government. And the way a person expresses their views about spending is by electing a member of Congress who believes what they believe.

And so if anyone in the Trump administration wants to modify the spending law that was enacted, you've got to come back to Congress and modify the law that was enacted. This is not some minor transgression. This is an illegal act. They stormed into buildings. They shut down agencies illegally. And sure, first it was USAID.

But they are now systematically going into the Small Business Administration, the Department of the Treasury, and they will not stop until they believe they have total control over spending. And that's not the way the American system of government is supposed to work. But currently, that is the way things are working. And that was Senator Brian Schatz of

Hawaii, and before him, Senator Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts, both of them Democrats, in the U.S. Senate. And they sounded the alarms. I mean, I think if you want a definition of being calm amidst such an outrage, I think you just heard it from both Senator Warren and Senator Schatz, but they were very pointed in their comments. And we tried to tell you,

We did try to tell you about this. There were Democrats who tried to tell you. They were telling you. I was telling you. Vice President Harris was telling you. We were telling you. Many others were telling you for months and months and months and years that this would happen if he got back in. But there is a large cross-section of this country that didn't give a damn, didn't care, just said, no, we don't want Vice President Harris back.

And this is the shit that happens when you don't vote for the black woman. This is what happens when you don't vote for her. And now you are getting to feel what that is now. And you may not have voted for that orange nightmare. You may have voted for Vice President Harris. But the reality is, is that those of us, including yours truly, who voted for Vice President Harris, are also going to be feeling that.

The effects of what 77 million people thought was somehow a good idea to have an orange dictator, a convicted criminal, twice impeached, insurrectionist, who had four criminal cases against him, and an adjudicated rapist back in the White House. They thought that that was a good idea. And so now they've signed their own death warrant.

They certainly have signed the death warrant of the United States of America because this country is, for all intents and purposes, on its way out. And I've heard this from a number of people, including the esteemed professor, Greg Carr, who said that this was going to happen and that this country would not last too much longer and is on its way out.

In fact, he was saying this before this orange felon got back into the White House. And the Democratic Party did not sound the alarm bells enough. Vice President Harris did as much as she could. But collectively, publicly, the Democrats weren't shouting from the rooftops. I mean, some of them were, but not enough. And where the hell are the Republicans? You know, I did ask in the previous episode to this, or maybe a couple of episodes to this, of this podcast,

where you've been when it came to the Democrats. But what about the Republicans? Where the hell are they? They don't care. They clearly don't care. But that doesn't mean we let them off the hook. None of them has the conscience. None of them has the leadership. None of them has the integrity. In that party, they call the Republican Party to stand up and do what is right. The only one that did have some of that integrity is now no longer a member of the U.S. Senate. I'm talking about Mitt Romney.

His term ended at the beginning of this year, and he did not seek re-election last November. And I think that's because he knew very well what the stakes were going to be. He knew that there was going to be, I think, an ignorant American populace who thought it would be a wonderful idea to vote for its own demise. A wonderful idea to somehow allow an unelected criminal named Elon Musk

to somehow just take over all of the expenditures of government. So as you heard Senator Warren say, that your federal tax income refund, whether it be in the form of a check or in the form of direct deposit, could now be jeopardized and actually never get to you. So that when you are looking for some money,

from your refund that might help you pay some bills, might help you buy some food, might help you to keep your home intact, your apartment intact, rent payment, mortgage payment. That refund that you are depending on that might help you make that payment is now something that's in jeopardy because you've got someone unelected doing a criminal act and now has your information.

Your social security number, your bank accounts. And 77 million people voted for that. They knew that this could happen. They knew that, but they didn't care because they thought it wouldn't happen to them. They got all nice and selfish, you see. And they thought that selfishness, not niceties, because nice is really not what I should be calling them. I'm being sarcastic, of course, about the nice part. They got all selfish and cruel about

And they thought that it would be a great idea to punish those black folk. And yet they didn't care to understand or realize that the punishment would also be coming to them for being so stupid and ignorant and ill-informed and cultish. We've already had in this country in the last month or so of this year, the first month and four days of the year,

countless social media postings by people who supported this orange felon who voted for him last November saying, oh my goodness, oh my gosh, I voted for him and my family member's just been deported. Oh my God, he said he wouldn't do that. He said he would only deport these people over here. But now my parents have been deported. I don't know what to do. Well, no one is shedding a tear for your stupidity and for your ignorance.

and for your situation because we tried to tell you. We tried to tell you. Adult Education Center, what we know about it is that students there are

age 20 and above but it is in close proximity to other buildings which in which children go for education this particular one has a range of courses including Swedish language courses for people who are new to the country immigrants the shooting happened after many students had gone home following a national exam so we have few other concrete details we don't know who the suspect

was what his motive was, but it is a dark day for Sweden and one politician described it as an education centre that is now characterised by violence, anxiety, darkness and fear. We know that Sweden has suffered a lot of gangland crime, gangland shootings, but when it comes to shootings of this nature, thankfully they're pretty rare.

They are very rare. This is being described as unprecedented by some of the people that we've spoken to today. We do know that there have been previous attacks on schools. There was one in 2015.

which is the highest profile of such crimes when a 21-year-old masked assailant who is said to have been driven by racist motives killed a teaching assistant and a boy. And the Swedish National Council for Crime Prevention says that 10 people were killed in seven such incidents between 2010 and 2022. So very rare, but a very dark day with 10 people killed in the latest shooting. You just heard that from Sky News in the UK. 10 people killed, at least 10 people killed

During a shooting at an education center in Sweden, in the southern part of Sweden, in Orespra, I believe is the name of the town. My condolences to the families of those 10 people who were killed. Actually, I think that number includes the gunman.

It's just horrible that a gunman would, that someone would do this. And obviously Sweden, as you just heard there from that portion of the Sky News broadcast in the United Kingdom, does not have this kind of gun violence at all very often. It's a very rare occurrence. And it's very, very sad indeed. These shootings happen across the world. They're not unique to the United States at all.

And when you have guns, when you have people who are bent on doing evil, and I know that Sweden's gun ownership rate, I would have to do some research on that. And I think that there's some pretty strict gun laws there. When you have people with weapons and people buy these things over the internet, for goodness sake, people have printer guns, 3D printer guns. You've heard about that. When you have access to these things,

And people with ill intent, you know what happens. And so, you know, this is a very sad moment for the country of Sweden. It's been a horrible year, as I said at the top of this episode. And so that is the news that's come through on Sky News in the United Kingdom, that 10 people and that number, God forbid, may go higher by the time you actually listen to this episode.

10 people killed in an education center, an adult education center in Sweden today when a gunman opened fire. Dear listener, welcome back. And so, yeah, we tried to tell you. We tried to tell you that this was a dictator who was coming in. We told you this, but, you know, you didn't listen. At least many people didn't listen. You personally listened, but many people did not. At this point,

We are in a very difficult place. And I think that all that's not lost, except your social security number and your bank accounts, we have to continue to stand against what's happening and we have to organize. And tomorrow I'll be talking about the organizing part of all of this, what we have to do locally.

Because local and state governments are going to be the most important thing we have ever, ever heard of for these next four, maybe four plus years. Because it's very clear that we are in the midst of a coup. This is a January 6th event. This time it's a January 6th event that doesn't involve any physical violence. It is a January 6th event in February that...

involves a lot of emotional violence, psychological violence, and criminality. And this is ultimately a devastating event. And look, the corporate news media is reporting this as if it's just some kind of another day in Mr. Rogers' neighborhood. With terms like buyout for federal employees who have been in their jobs for 30 years, 40 years,

civil servants, 2 million plus of them in the federal government who cannot be fired unless there's some real egregious act of crime or something that they've committed. And that you've got people like Elon Musk and Donald Trump saying, oh, accept this buyout and leave your job. And of course, we know that this is illegal. But you know, the media doesn't report it that way. Oh, it's a buyout.

This is not a buyout, it's a heist. It's criminal what is being done to these federal workers. And to call it, as a lot of these news media outlets, including the Financial Times, a buyout of their jobs, as if this is a buyout of a position that's being staked in some company, buyout, some merger, some acquisition, to put it in those terms...

is flagrantly dishonest and trivializing of just how serious this is and how much of a crime this is. But again, because people have such short memories, dear listener, remember just seven months ago, seven months and three days ago, to be precise, the United States Supreme Court in a decision called Trump versus United States gave this piece of orange garbage immunity

for all acts that he deems are official acts. Immunity from prosecution for any so-called official act that he does while he is in the office that he occupies. You do seem to have forgotten that already, don't you? That that Supreme Court decision, the Supreme Court of the United States, that is, was made on July the 1st, 2024, just three days before...

July the 4th, a spit in the eye of Lady Liberty and a spit in the eye of this country and its so-called founding fathers. And they weren't founding fathers, by the way. That's what the country calls them. And so right now, this country is in the control of fascists, is in the control of a dictator. I won't even call them Republicans anymore.

And I think we get tripped up when we keep focusing on R's versus D's and D's versus R's. What we really should be focusing on is right versus wrong, because ultimately that's really where this comes down to. What is wrong is what Elon Musk is doing and what Donald Trump is doing and what these Republicans at large are doing.

What is right is us standing up, standing firm and pushing back and organizing and voting and educating ourselves about government and how it works. And a lot of people who aren't educated about how the federal government works are in for a rude awakening.

when they find out that they can't access their Social Security benefits, that they're not receiving those benefits anymore. So if your grandparent or your parent doesn't have Social Security benefits, the little that they are these days, then how are they going to live? How are they going to eat? If you are depending on unemployment benefits in your federal unemployment benefits and you don't have those benefits,

and maybe your state has refused unemployment benefits for whatever strange reason, bizarre reason, then how are you going to get by? I mean, this is very, very serious. This is a direct attack on you. And this is something that has been in the works for 60 years.

Yes, I know they're Republicans and I said don't focus on them. But that party is the party that over the last 60 years has brought us to this point. Nothing like this ever just happens overnight. I don't believe it. And I think that people who believe that do not have a working grasp, a functional grasp of history. They surely do not. You can look all the way back to Richard Nixon. You can look all the way back to after Nixon.

the signing of the Civil Rights Bill in 64, and the Voting Rights Act of 65. And that was due to the hard work of black people, the Black Liberation Movement, that really this iteration of the Black Liberation Movement really began in 1955. Now, there'd been many iterations prior to that. One of them, I would say one of them was Harriet Tubman,

you know, 100 years before. But I'm talking about the iteration of the Black Liberation Movement in the 1950s, with the aftermath of Emmett Till in August of that year, then with Rosa Parks, December the 1st of that year, then with the Montgomery bus boycott that followed Rosa Parks,

than with the continued activism of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and numerous other black leaders and black folk across this country. This is something that has been instrumental to the advancing progress in this country. Black folk are instrumental to it. And just think,

Less than 100 years at that point, if you're looking at 1955 or even 1965, 100 years or thereabouts after the end of enslavement of black people in the United States, we got these gains through our hard work and persistence, through us sweating blood, shedding tears, and shedding and losing our lives. We died for these benefits, for the right to vote.

for the right to be treated with decency. He had the 14th Amendment, the 13th, 14th, and 15th Amendment. Those are the Reconstruction Amendments. We fought and died for these things. In the 1960s, fought and died, died for these rights to vote, which have been eviscerated now in this country. The Supreme Court in 2013 under Chief Justice John Roberts, oh, I'm so concerned about the legacy of the court under my watch. No, you're not. Who famously ruled

In a decision that stripped away a sizable portion of the Voting Rights Act. Oh, well, you know, black people really don't need to worry about not voting anymore because, hey, Barack Obama got into office. No, we absolutely need to worry about voting anymore, especially now. But this Supreme Court has been doing this over decades and centuries. People forget the Dred Scott decision.

You do remember that, don't you, from the late 1800s. A decision by a racist-ass Chief Justice Roger Taney that ruled that black people have no rights that the white man is bound to respect. Well, Elon Musk and Donald Trump have taken us back to that era. In fact, that era has never really, really disappeared in this country. Never really has. Even throughout all the

progress and all of the advancements that we as black people have made and as the country has made. And actually, the advancements for black people have also helped advance other groups of people as well. White women in particular and the LGBTQIA community also, among many others. And yet, black folk in this country are still the most despised group of people in the country. Still to this very day.

Our culture is loved, but we are hated. And all of this anti-blackness, all of the lies of a Donald Trump and an Elon Musk has brought us to this moment. Richard Nixon saying the racist things about black people that he did while he was in office. The COINTELPRO program under J. Edgar Hoover, who ruled the FBI with an iron fist for 50 years. Five, zero, 50.

Fiddy. All of the other things that we've seen, the attacks on Dr. King, the attacks on Malcolm X, the assassinations of both of them, the assassination of Medgar Evers as well, and so many other people. Fred Hampton assassinated, he was what, 19, 20 years old, Black Panther, in 1967, 68, 69, assassinated, assassinated. Fred Hampton, assassinated by the FBI and Chicago police.

While he was sleeping, sound familiar, Breonna Taylor? We told you and we've been telling you for hundreds of years about this country. But you, and you know who you are, chose not to listen, called us paranoid, called us crazy. You didn't believe that the police were killing us until you saw a video of Rodney King in 1991 being beaten within an inch of his life.

You didn't believe in what we were saying. We were saying to you, we were telling you. And now I think you believe us. Only now I think it's just a little bit too late. A little bit too late. Well, all is not lost, except your social security number and your bank account information. But apart from that, all is not lost. And you decided that you would vote for this. America was always going to be destroyed from within. And...

The vast majority of white Americans were always going to prefer a white male convicted felon over a black woman with a distinguished record of 20 years of public service who advocated for everyone because that is white America in a nutshell for you. You praised black women and thanked them for saving your wretched worthless ass while you didn't lift a finger from your lazy body.

who'd do anything to try to counteract or stop this madness. You didn't do a thing. Not nearly enough. You knew that you had relatives in your white family who were going to be voting for this orange jackass. And you either did not even bother to deal with them in terms of talk to them or have a conversation of any kind.

or warn them of what this would be if they voted for it, if he got in, you decided to not challenge your friends, not challenge the people that you love and care about. You decided not to do any of that. And so now, you and they will feel the pain and you will have a very different country from the one that you used to have. You will have very little recognition of what the United States of America is

In the next six months, let alone the next four, maybe four plus years. But you know what? Black women are not going to save your ass anymore because your ass ain't worth saving. Your ass doesn't deserve to be saved. The laziness, the casualness, the entitlement and the arrogance and the ignorance that you possess should stand alone singularly.

for one of the most stupidest things that a group of people in a country could ever, ever do. And that is vote against their own economic interests. At some point you say whiteness is the reason. And you can say that whiteness is the reason. But that is not a reason. Because whiteness, a system of abject cruelty and anti-blackness, will also come back to take the people away.

who worship it the most. And that would be, in this case, white Americans. And now you are finding out exactly the truth of what I am saying to you. Because Elon Musk now has control over the most important economic infrastructures in the federal government of the United States of America. And that includes your personal information, all of our personal information.

and our bank accounts. That is the truth of what I am saying. Well, now I'm going to play you one of the speakers from the rally that was held in front of the USAID building in Washington, D.C., where Democratic politicians held that rally to protest and stand up against the closure and the purging of USAID. You're going to be hearing people

from Representative Ilhan Omar of Minnesota. Now, again, these were Democratic senators and House members unified in front of the building itself. They also marched over to the building seeking to gain access there. This was yesterday, Monday, February the 3rd, 2025. And here now is Representative Ilhan Omar. - Thank you, Senator.

It is really, really a sad day in America. We are witnessing a constitutional crisis. We talked about Trump wanting to be a dictator on day one, and here we are. This is what the beginning of dictatorship looks like. When you gut the Constitution and you install yourself as the sole power, that is how dictators are made.

What Trump and Elon and all of their cronies are trying to do is take away the constitutional power of Congress. We get to decide. We have the power of the purse. We get to decide where money is allocated, and it's the executive's power to make sure that that money gets to where it needs to get. When we talk about money,

Civil servants being let go. What we are talking about is not saving money. It's essentially saying they can get paid while they're home and their work doesn't get done on behalf of the American people. It is us taxpayers who are being ripped off. It is us taxpayers who are not getting the resources that we paid into. So I ask the American people.

Do you want people at home and getting a paycheck and not providing services to you? The answer is no. Do you want the executive making the only decisions in this country or do you want the elected representatives that you sent to Washington making those policies? I am exceptionally upset about USAID. I lived in a refugee camp for four years as a child surviving civil war.

It is the essential programs that USAID provided that kept my family and I fed and safe. It is the resources that so many people around the world rely on. And it is our soft power. Oftentimes, people interact with our country through the military. That does not create love for us, and it certainly does not keep us safe. When the world...

When the world interacts with Americans through programs that provide essential need, they get to see the heart and compassion of the American people. When someone is struggling because their bridge broke down, when USAID comes in and helps fix that bridge, that creates goodwill for the American people. When people are dying of malaria,

and there is medication through USAID, that creates goodwill for the American people. When people are fleeing and they need just a little bit of food, and USAID is there to provide that, that creates goodwill for the American people. Privileged billionaires who don't give a damn about America and Americans should not be making decisions that put Americans at harm. And a billionaire that hasn't been vetted...

has not gone through confirmation, has not been elected by the American people, who we still do not understand what in the world he's doing, should not be telling American employees that they cannot access the building they work at. What kind of country is this man turning our country into? What kind of country are we becoming? It is embarrassing to read the headlines about free America

Where one man is walking around like he is the boss of all of us and we don't know who put him in charge. And it is time for us to put an end to that.
