David Finaly competed at IMPACT Wrestling with his tag team partner Juice Robinson, and Jay White made his debut at IMPACT Wrestling to help set up the match at NJPW Resurgence. Lance Archer had a successful defense championship match against Bullet Club's own Young Gun Hikuleo and then Tanahashi showed up on AEW Dynamite to have this match against Archer.
