Keith Devlin from Stanford University argues in his book Finding Fibonacci) that the 13thC mathematician made a far greater contribution to Western civilisation than his eponymous sequence. He's been on a crusade to get the world to recognise Fibonacci as the man who introduced Hindu-Arabic numbers to the West.
