Wisconsin Badgers football head coach Paul Chryst has some head-scratching comments during his post-game press conference following the ugly loss to Washington State. We talk about his comments on the 4th down play as well as his comments about Graham Mertz on today's Locked On Badgers. Chryst was upset about his 4th down decision to go for it near mid-field, I would argue it was the right call and Chryst is learning the wrong lessons from what happened on that play. I'm worried he's going to get even more conservative.
Chryst also had some odd comments regarding Graham Mertz pushing the ball downfield, and how perhaps he shouldn't have quite as much. I thought the downfield passing game was maybe the best part of the inconsistent Badgers attack and its odd that Chryst would take that opportunity in the press conference to question his QBs decision making.
We also discuss the Badgers remaining games and what it would take for this to be considered a successful season. Is winning the Big Ten West enough ? Or do we need to see substantial offensive improvement? Is there any scenario where Paul Chryst is on the hot seat this season ?
