The North Carolina Tar Heels, led by star Vance Honeycutt, punched their ticket to the College World Series in Omaha, Nebraska with a thrilling two game sweep of the West Virginia Mountaineers. Honeycutt’s back to back home runs - on two consecutive pitches - spanning Friday and Saturday night’s games led the Diamond Heels, while a total team effort from Scott Forbes’s squad closed a magical season in Boshamer Stadium. Matt Poston and Dalton Pence both shut down West Virginia’s offense in critical late moments of both games to help the Heels advance to the school’s first CWS appearance since 2018.
