This week, I’m talking to Amber Kemp-Gertsel. Amber is a former clinical child psychologist who left her career to to pursue her passion for inspiring creativity in others. She founded Damask Love (a creative empowerment website) and quickly created one of the biggest brands in the DIY and crafting space. Damask Love has partnered with brands such as Martha Stewart and Coca-Cola and has been featured in dozens of print and online magazines. Amber currently works as an on-air craft expert on the Home Shopping Network and was a finalist on NBC’s craft-competition show Making It – hosted by Amy Poehler and Nick Offerman. Most recently, Amber launched her own product line at JOANNE Fabrics.
In this episode, Amber and I discuss making friends as an adult, the importance of having a solid foundation as a growing brand, deciding what to share online (and off), working for free, and being exactly who you are.
