Societies need values to guide them, which are universally valid and respected. We live in a world of declining values, we hear here and there. If we no longer have values that are universally valid and respected by everyone, cornerstones such as truth, freedom, justice etc. become individually interpreted axioms and sooner or later the consequences are conflicts, an increased willingness to use violence and mutual judgement in our coexistence. The people of our time are obviously finding it increasingly difficult to accept superior authorities, be it at a political level or, in some cases, at a professional and social level. The song of supposed independence that has been sung since creation is ringing ever louder in our times. But we are only fooling ourselves: We are deeply dependent beings: just a short time without the free oxygen available and that's it for us. How naive and contradictory we are at times.
