In the Mediterranean region, opaque fences are sometimes found near the beach to mark boundaries or simply to prevent animals from entering or curious people from seeing things they shouldn't. These are closely spaced bamboo trees or similar plants that are so close together that there is no space between them. As the individual pieces of wood are relatively thin, such a fence can even be rolled up. This fence mesh is also sometimes wrapped around the trunks of young trees to protect them from being eaten by wild animals. The mesh is therefore very strong and provides good and reliable protection because it combines the individual, easily breakable wooden tubes so tightly. Strong and yet flexible. This is a combination that does not occur very often and yet is remarkable. The secret lies in the weakness and modesty of the individual elements, which blend into the whole. A good example for us humans.
