In this time of long nights, many of us hang stars: as paper cut-outs, origami or even ones that glow. We long for light these days, especially in the darkness of the night. Stars also stand for excellence. In football, for example, in the Champions League. Or on the European flag there is a circle of 12 stars. They stand for the values of unity, solidarity and harmony between the peoples of Europe. Or perhaps rather for the longing for them. And because much of what we long for is out of our own reach, we speak of reaching for the stars. In the last book of the Bible, the Revelation of John, Jesus is called the morning star. The morning star is the star that rises before the sunrise. It heralds the day. Therefore, the morning star is a picture of Jesus who brings the light to each of us. How beautiful.
