In purely technical terms, images are nothing more than very small fields or areas, known as pixels, which are assigned a specific colour value and then, as a whole, produce an image. This applies to photos and digital images alike – and also to screens or monitors. On computers, so-called screen savers are often used to protect the screens. These are moving images or shapes that pass over the monitor while the screen saver is active. As the name suggests, they are used to protect the screen by changing the colour value of the individual pixels at certain intervals. This prevents the pixels from being damaged by a static image that is on the screen for too long, as the colour value could burn in. A good example of how we should also change and question our way of looking at things again and again - otherwise rigid images will burn in, which can become wrong over time.
