Next year, 2025, will be a special year for the railway. That's when the first commercial steam railway, the Stockton and Darlington Railway in England, will celebrate its 200th anniversary. I imagine there is a huge difference between the locomotives of then and now. However, the principle of an - as the name suggests - iron railway, i.e. a track on or made of iron, has remained the same. The rails are still made of the same material, or at least similar alloys, as are the wooden sleepers. These are often not noticed, recognised or appreciated for their function. They provide stability, even spacing between rails, protection against short circuits and many other benefits. One reason for this is that they are made of very different materials. A wonderful example of how differences complement each other to make things work.

I wish you an extraordinary day!
