By definition, a pergola is a porch or extension and originally served as a sunshade in the transitional area between the house and terrace. This makes it possible to be outside and enjoy the warmth and fresh air without having to fear the strength of the sun. So two things can be combined: Protection from dangerous UV rays and being outdoors and breathing fresh air. Protection and freedom - not something that many people in this world take for granted these days, or indeed throughout the history of mankind. Protection and freedom - who doesn't long for them - especially when one or even both are missing? Do we even know what it means not to have these things as citizens? Do we value them? Or are we more annoyed about road traffic restrictions or a broken umbrella in a thunderstorm? How do you feel about that? Why don't you read Psalm 91?
