At the end of the 19th century, people were probably traveling mainly by horse and other animals. The railroad and cars were only in development, I imagine. And then in the following decades these travel services developed and today we take them for granted. Today we call the roads where the cars can drive at high speed highways. I do not know what relation there is to altitude but at some point a term had to be found for this innovation - a road for the fast cars. This did not exist until then. We live in constant change and no matter how old you are - you are young enough for something new, for which you may find a new name. I wish you openness for this new, in whatever form it may come and wherever and then creativity in naming! Just be open for surprises!
I wish you an extraordinary day!
