When I first heard about goldfish, I thought they were particularly precious. I was rather disappointed when I saw them - and they weren't even golden, but orange. To this day I still don't know why they are called goldfish. And they don't seem to be anything that special - at least to me. They are simply a type of carp. Perhaps there are also things in your life that you have gilded, that you unjustifiably value more highly and more valuable than they are and that you have figuratively built your own pool for and especially cherished. Perhaps it is time to take a closer look and see these symbolic goldfish for what they really are: Fish like any other that swim in your pool of life, like others, and therefore no longer deserve the same attention and care as before. Or vice versa: other, perhaps less conspicuous things are valued and cared for just as much as these things. Pool cleaning may be the order of the day.
