How such a sight suddenly feels good and you look forward to one or probably several sips of cool water to quench your thirst and maybe even fill up the empty bottle you brought with you. However, I have also seen a sign at the fountain saying ‘No drinking water’. What a disappointment then. You would be so close to the thirst quencher, but it is not what it claims to be. The fact that we have clean water so readily available is not a matter of course, on the contrary. In an encounter with a woman, Jesus once talks about living water being available from him. Free, like from the village well. I believe that this is really clean and truly quenches our thirst in life.
