In ancient Greece there were these beautiful columns, some of which are still visible today in the ruins of temples or other impressive buildings. I like these columns, their design, the care with which they were created. For me, when I look at them, their practical use - the support, the main task - recedes into the background. Rather, I see in them an architectural masterpiece. Today, for reasons of cost, one would perhaps simply cast a concrete column, optimised as far as possible in terms of functionality, lifecycle and costs. But the aesthetics would probably remain in the background, just for a column. I encourage you for today to do everything you do in this sense of excellence, of beauty in all functionality that concerns your daily work - be it cooking, writing an email, emptying the rubbish or pouring a coffee. Surely then the day will seem much more precious and special to you.
