In my childhood, Velcro fasteners were used to close trainers. So instead of having to tie your shoes, you could simply use a Velcro fastener - great for children who had trouble tying their laces. But the effect was still not the same. Tying the shoes was better, the shoe held better and so this technology did not last. Apart from that, a tied shoe also looks nicer than a Velcro fastener. With the laces, however, it can be tedious if the cord unravels at the ends. That's why they often have a plastic finish or you can singe the end of the laces with a little fire. This holds the individual threads together and helps the entire shoelace to hold together better and can be sewn in place. The whole thing is held together. No lace individualism. How contrary to our zeitgeist! Are you a person who promotes cohesion?

I wish you an extraordinary day!
