When bread is baked, as we know it, the outer part of the loaf is logically the most baked because it is most exposed to the heat of the oven. It has to withstand the heat the longest and strongest - until the entire dough is baked so that it is ready for us to eat. Exposed area, we would say. I have observed people who, when it comes to bread, cut off this outer part and don't eat it, simply leaving it out and throwing it away. It pains me to see this, and not just since food waste came about. Personally, I like this part best because it is usually cross and flavourful. It came at a price - enduring the heat - a pleasure for me. It may be the same in life: what goes through heat, through adversity, what has to be endured and sometimes feels anything but cosy or comfortable, is of great value to the people around you who appreciate its value.
I wish you an extraordinary day!
