In mathematics, the individual operators are not always of equal value when performing calculations. There is a mnemonic device that says: "Dot before dash". This means that in a calculation with several operations, divisions and multiplications are to be performed first, and only then subtractions or additions. However, it may be that you still want to perform a subtraction or addition first, and then the multiplication or division. In this case, brackets help. They take precedence over the operations involving a so called dot and determine that the expressions in the brackets are to be carried out first, followed by those outside the brackets. And: brackets can be nested, combined, etc. In life, we sometimes need such brackets too: reserved and prioritised times or activities – including conscious periods of rest that simply have to take priority. Do you consciously set your everyday brackets or do you just live by the dot before the dash?

I wish you an extraordinary day!
