In the past, every bike had a kickstand, which was usually attached quite directly to the bike. Today, this is no longer a matter of course. Some bikes are optimised to be as light as possible and therefore a kickstand is unnecessary weight that you have to carry with you. That makes sense. The kickstand is only important for parking the bike, not at all while riding, it's just an annoying weight. The same applies to the lights: if you ride during the day, you don't need them, only in the dark. The same applies to mudguards. Just annoying ballast in many cases. This is how a bike can actually be optimised. But what happens if it gets dark unexpectedly or you have to ride through rain or mud or want to park the bike? Then the supposed optimum is a shortcoming. You put yourself in danger without lights, your clothes get dirty or the bike gets scratched because you have to put it on the ground. Optimising to the last detail is sometimes suboptimal.
I wish you an extraordinary day!
