Episode 2 The Biggest Secret to Creating A Positive Mindset
In Episode one, we talked about the Power of our Brains, and touched on one tool in particular that has been scientifically proven to help us be more present in our everyday moments > and that is meditative prayer, and in a simple phrase > practicing mindfulness. Today’s episode we are diving deep into this!
I get pretty vulnerable and discuss in this episode the struggles I’ve been challenged with since I was in elementary school. It has been very arduous and exhausting journey, and something I struggle with still from time to time.
Let's start with the basics first of what meditative prayer is…
Meditation: is a practice where an individual uses a technique – such as mindfulness, or focusing the mind on a particular object, thought, or activity – to train attention and awareness, and achieve a mentally clear and emotionally calm and stable state.
Prayer: can be defined as talking to God, but it is much more than that. Prayer is an act of worship that glorifies God and reinforces our need for Him. Through living a life of prayer, we respond to Christ's work of salvation and communicate with the very source of and purpose for our existence
So in essence meditative prayer (or as some refer to it, Christian Meditation) is a form of prayer in which a structured attempt is made to become aware of and reflect upon the revelations of God / Christ as your saviour. So basically Christian meditation is the process of deliberately focusing on specific thoughts (such as a bible passage) or an adoration and reflecting on the meaning in the context of the love of God
It’s simply about deeply focusing on God’s presence and His word. Taking a purposeful moment to focus solely on your relationship with Christ, by emptying your mind of the world and totally filling your mind with His presence and peace.
During my research, I was able to devour so many Christian resources on meditivate prayer. Listen in to the episode to hear more insight on this.
Bible references in this episode:
Matthew 22:37
Psalms 26:2
Psalm 119:15
Psalm 119:148
Romans 12:16
Isaiah 26:3
Corinthians 2:16
Meditation has been proven to relieve stress, help with many physical ailments, and when we are focusing on prayer, we are strengthening and connecting with Christ.
