The vast majority of legacy fake news outlets refuse to interview Professor Clements "on the record" based on two stipulations: (1) the interview must be video recorded and (2) the interview can be published in its entirety to ensure context and to curb propaganda-like editorialization. Clements also agrees to not screen any questions in advance. It came as a welcome surprise that Benjamin Wittes, Editor-in-Chief at "Lawfare" and longtime contributor to the Washington Post, agreed to Clements' conditions. What follows is a far reaching interview on Clements' Gideon Strategy, the difference between use of force and violence, First Amendment limits at public protests, and whether its lawful to withhold certification in an election. Curiously, the recording device the parties were to rely on from "Lawfare" on "failed" to video record the interview, and the audio from Clements was inaudible. However, Clements screen-captured the entire video and was able to salvage the audio, and poor image quality to present this interview. Be on the lookout for any potential hit pieces from "Lawfare" and compare their article to the conversation that takes place here.
