Welcome to the H D T V and .

homeless ter podcast. This is episode eleven seventy seven for an november twenty second twenty twenty four. Or how are you doing?

I am doing well. Thank you for getting up early to record this podcast. This episode brain is in sydney, australia this week, and I calculated the distance between here in sydney in a great circle is seven thousand five hundred and twenty one miles, or twelve thousand one hundred and three kilometers.

So I thought that would be the farthest apart we've been when we've recorded a show. That's the third artist. The second far. This is when I was in dubai, which was eight thousand, three hundred and forty one miles or thirteen thousand four hundred and twenty three kalm, but the longest distance, the greatest distance, was between here and hydrogen ad in india. And that was eight thousand seven hundred and fifty one miles or fourteen thousand and eighty three kilo.

yeah, at this point would be all over the place. Ah so yeah, it's IT was my first trip to australia. I'm enjoying IT down here. IT was wild. I left out of L A direct flight to sydney, and the flight actually end up being pretty cool.

I left late at at night on monday night, so I slept all night, which is essentially meant I slept through all of tuesday because I didn't live tuesday, woke up wednesday morning and was ready to live the day on wednesday. And now its early thursday, which is your wednesday afternoon to record a podcast. But I kind of got off the plane on wednesday morning.

He felt as if know I had just gone to sleep monday night, woke up wednesday. Ning, it's so far been so been pretty good. Um and i'm excited to be here.

I got to go. I got don't have to go, I get to go to a melbourne next week before coming home for thanksgiving. And then I think on the flight home for thanksgiving, I leave on wednesday. I get home on wednesday before I left, if I remember the time in, correct? So yeah.

that happened to us too, and we went to australia a few years ago. Same time of thing. You sleep through a day, you miss a day.

But then coming back, that is a long day. Because as you said, you live an entire day on the flight. And then you come back before you left so you get to live that day all over again. So at all you catch up.

Yeah yeah you don't get to skip a day and you don't have to live too much extra time. But yeah so I don't have I don't I can't say that you know, i'm one day Younger than I wouldn't been, so I have to move my birthday or anything.

Yeah you're silica mage regardless. You're just in a different .

alright so la jumping to do some podcasting um so thank you everyone for if you however you found the show, however you have found us and our streaming, listening, downloading the podcast we appreciated, you'll find out more about us at our website ht guys dot com.

One of the things you'll find there is that we are entire entirely listener supported and you can help support us one way that the patriotic ink that you're find of the website and patriotic t comms lash hdtv podcast. We're very grateful, and we've got thanksgiving coming up. So we're very thankful as well for those who have contributed through patron, and we appreciate you very much. Thank you for contributing to the show through patron.

And the other way to support us is to our coffee metaphor on our website. On the right hand side, you can click on the picture of a coffee cup, and that is a paypal donation. You get three sizes, three different dollar amounts.

We also have something called a caf pal that's a twenty five dollar donation. And with that you get a shout out. We had no shout out or no caf piles, which means no shout out. And with that, we'll just go straight to our first email.

And he comes to us from ed and he says, I heard you guys discussions recently about bundle ling TV services and have the cave out for those thinking of trying you get what you pay for. Case in point, we subscribe to both disney plus and max. My wife noticed that the no ads package for the two of them, plus hou, was lessen what you, what we were paying for disney and max separately.

Long stories short. When you bundle these services, you don't get dolby vision, you don't get four k, and you don't get ten A D, P enhanced, and you don't get to be atmos ther. So you don't get a lot of things ah, you get a plane or ten A D P along with five point once around.

The extra bad news is that you only find out about IT when you call to ask. I had no idea what happens if you acquire these things through amazon, however. And then about set top boxes, for those of you who listen to this find program, performance matters.

And because he does, I recently stop using the built in streaming apps on my twenty twenty two model, L G. OLED, which is a sixty five inch, the apple, the apple TV fork, is Better in every way. IT uses five g wifi cleaning.

The LG would not stay connected at five g and I had to go down to two point four G I think is giger her, not g and the three put is much faster, he says, every single APP that I use regularly as features that the L, G version of the APP does not. Plus, the apple box will do picture and picture from two different apps. All this makes sense when you realize that the apple four K T V is essentially an iphone or ipad as far as the processor IT goes.

In this case, the hundred and fifty dollars for the redundant scamming box is worth IT. And he says, last, i'm in the market for an A V receiver and the purchase decision is likely to come down to room correction software. Do either of you to run IT? What kind and how old does IT work? So there's a lot to impact. The first of all, didn't we say something this for prime video, that if you do the commercial, only the the free with the ads, you don't get utmost yeah.

I think that's sure. I think a lot of them scale back on the quality you get if you do the free with ads version. But I didn't know that, that was the case if you were paying for IT via bundle, I I didn't realize that I don't have anything bundled right now. I've kind of unbundled everything for god as well reason, but I didn't realize that if you went for the bundles where you do save money by bundled ling things together, that part of the way, I guess, that they make up for that lower cost is by trimming down on the features and the capabilities that you get in the bundle. I had no idea.

I wonder what what happened if you're about the click purchase on the bundle. They said, by doing this, we are going to lower the quality of the video. You're not going to get utmost I wonder how many people would just keep IT with the unbundled LED version. Do you think that would happen? Or do you think people would just say, hecker, that i'm just gonna drop all together?

I think that there would be a select audience that would say, okay, I want to keep the individual apps because I want those extra features for the quality that I get in my home theater. There would be a large chunk of the audience that that would say i'm just watching IT on my TV, listening through my TV. I don't have support for all that other stuff anyways.

So the bundle at the lower Price makes sense. And then there might be others that would say, forget that I don't need any of IT. And you know i'm going to get the lower quality to bundle or just cancel everything or maybe i'll go down to just one of the apps instead of getting all of them in in the bundle.

Um what percentage of of the the audience would go to each of those? I no idea, but I think you would be very few kind of the audio file, video files of the world that would say, no, i'm going to pay more to get the full quality versus those who would say i'm fine with the lower quality because I don't have an extensive investment in my home theatre that would take advantage of the higher quality in the apps. And a lot of people wouldn't know what those features are.

If you told them you're gona lose what he say, he went through that, you know you're going to lose doby att doby vision ten ndp enhanced but you're going to get ten A D P in five once around. You know, i'm going to get ten A D P video which is hd, and I might get five point once around. Sound sounds pretty good to me.

I don't know those of the things are i'm flying with IT. So I think that there's a small group of people who would understand what the differences are and was opt to go for the individual apps so that they could take full advantage of their investment in their home theatre. But I can imagine that would be a large percentage of the audience IT just .

doesn't make sense that they wouldn't do that. I will just be transparent, let everybody know. But thank you for sharing that with us. And as far as the set top box goes, I agree, you could buy A T V today that has as much power as your setup box.

But over the time, that power will diminish or I shouldn't say it'll diminish h other more powerful processors will come on the market. And as the apps make use of that more power, your capabilities on the apps on your T, V one want be able to keep up with IT. So by buying a set top box for one hundred and fifty dollars, you can always boost that power.

So I would imagine that you get the TV. And then over some period of time, you make the progression towards a set top box. And then as far as room calibration software, i've used otto sy and i've used some things that we're built into the amazon.

I don't know what they call IT. IT was just their homegrown room correction software at the time. Auto si worked really well for me.

The newman dirac, I don't know much about IT. A lot of people speak very highly of IT, but some processors require you to pay extra for IT. I don't know, brain, the evi input on the room correction software.

I mean, it's good if you don't want to get a full calibration done and sort like the video calibration desks that are good. If you don't want to do full calibration. But it's not it's not going to get you where a full collaboration would get you IT helps IT helps some IT will tell you if you've got speakers that are out of phase because you wired them up incorrectly.

So there are some things that will help you trouble shoot. But you know, I I never went from the uncle brain mode to the calibrated mode. Sorry about that, I just drop my mike.

I never went from the uncle brain mode to the calibrated mode and thought, wow, my room sounds so much Better now. And i've used a few from I can pion had to built in. I think SONY had one built in.

I don't member lish ones that were, but i've used them. And somewhere you just had the mike, you had to sit at your main listening position or in the middle, the room, and then I would do the correction around you. Somewhere he had to move the mike around to multiple positions in the room, and IT would take measurements from all around the room.

But now IT never got to where I said holy Molly from before and after. It's like a world of different. But if you did have some serious issues with, you know, some of the things that you how you had installed the room, how the subway, we know where the subway buffer was located, or if you did have some speakers that were out of face, i'm sure IT would give you some decent correction in that. But it's not the same as a profession calibration.

a professional calibration. You also have to fix your room. And what I mean by that is there may be some things that the calibration can fix just because of the reflections. So to do the full bloom professional calibration, you may have to do some room treatments as as well. So I guess what we're saying is you can get some benefit, but don't expect you to .

blow you away. alright. So here's our next email from mark, and he says that you get what you pay for and there's no free lunch.

A couple years ago, I wanted to thirty two inch TV to put on my kitchen pass through. This would let me tune in to the same football or baseball game that I have running on my living room TV. That way I can make a snack or coca milan.

The kitchen did not miss any place from my game. I also didn't want to spend much money on IT. I made a decision that I now regret.

The TV I bought is an insignia thirty two inch L D ten A D P smart fire TV. When I turn n IT on, I get to to start up screen fetch ed with promotions for amazon video offerings. I'm a prime subscriber, so I figured this would be okay.

Instead is distracting. The TV Operating system won't let IT start with the input I used last time I watched the TV. In my case, input one is connected to a roku box lately on startup, the TV nag ged me to allow amazon to track all my viewing on the TV set, presumably to enhance the viewing experience that's in codes.

And that's amazon speak for fine tuning the ads that wants to throw at me on the TV home screen, which I can't bypass. I rejected this request from amazon until I stopped polluting my startup, reen. Now I know why this TV was only one hundred and thirty nine dollars at the time I bought IT at best buy to get the least expensive thirty two inch ten A D P T V I could.

The spammy start up screen subsidizes the cost of the television. This came to mind listening to your ht guys discussion of a possible future with a free TV that forces the you were to watch ads before tuning into a show. And as I mentioned earlier, i'm an amazon prime subscriber.

I buy lots of stuff from amazon. They get enough of my attention, enough of my money without the TV spammy startdb screen. In retrospect, i'd pay more for a kitchen TV to avoid being spammed by ads.

The one I have is well built and will probably last for many years, but next time i'll pay more for a TV that i'll use as a monitor hooked to a roku box. And speaking of that, rock continues increasing the spam on its home screen. I might decide to switch to apple TV boxes on all of my tvs.

Thanks for your thought provoking podcast, which I support with a monthly patron contribution. mark. Mark, first of all, thank you for your month of patriot contribution, we really appreciated.

And this sort of goes to your desire, or a for dumb tvs, right? If you could just get a TV and would IT be less expensive if the TV didn't have any of the smarts enter at all, so you didn't have the license, a smart OS from amazon or someone else versus is amazon not charging you extra for the prime OS on there because they're making money on the ads? So IT isn't actually more expensive for the promos.

There's no additional cost for that because they are making IT up in the subsidies are getting from the ads. Would a dumb TV into being more expensive? And would people be willing to pay an additional costs to say, I just don't wanna any ads, just give me a dumb TV that has none of that in IT and i'll hook up my own set to box to IT.

You know the dumb TV would probably cost more money because it's not being subsidized by the ads. I've got a SONY TV and I have not even updated the firm. Or every time I turned on, I get this little thing up in the right hand corner and says a firm or update.

I don't bother updating IT because as far as i'm concerned, i'm using IT as a dumb TV. There may come a day where IT says, if you don't do the update, we're not onna turn on again. But I don't think SONY would do something like that because I paid full Price for this television.

But I can see the point where they would say if you're gonna make any money off of this TV in the future, for instance, they sell you A T, V for one hundred dollars, but they make a thousand dollars over a period of five years. He may cost you fifteen hundred dollars to buy that dumb TV, which they probably wouldn't sell many. So it's a double at sort for them. But I can see where you can make the case that a dumb TV might end up causing more money.

Yes, but couldn't those far more updates just go on A A complete? Couldn't those for more updates also include updates beyond just the smart OS? Couldn't they include updates to video processing in errors or bugs in how the videos process? So you're not getting the full benefit of up they say might be making to the quality of the television?

I'm sure they do. They probably do. But right now, I really like the way the TV looks. I don't .

have input about IT. Yeah.

I don't have any complaints about IT. However, you're right, maybe they came up with a much Better H D, R. Processing algorithm and the T, V can get even Better. So maybe what I do is I do the upgrade and just disconnected from wifi and and who cares yeah but I I hear what you're .

saying IT may not even be worthy to get that video upgrade if it's gonna ck you into a bunch more spammy ads or junk, it's gonna en on the TV like, man. I wish I could go back to the old quality version and not have all the junk that I just added with this most recent formal .

update yeah because when the when the TV on, I see the the splash Green of the SONY smart T. V. And only up there for about maybe three or four seconds before the apple TV video s, which is in so that's the base and then he says, oh, i'm getting video input from input one and then it's watches over to input one.

And that's how that works. But we have heard listener say that if you don't they've had a situation words as if you don't do this update, we're not going to even work anymore. I don't think SONY would do that, but if they did, that could be a little bit irritating.

Now as long as they let me switch over to input one immediately, I guess I wouldn't matter. The problem is if you're only using their smart TV and on their splash screen, you'll see all the ads before you can like tune to the tune or whatever. I don't know. It's it's a weird situation where I think these smart TV got in a little out of hand.

Yeah I mean, they couldn't have doing a firm or update that sets IT sort like Marks where he says he can't go immediately to the last input that he was watching. IT goes to the the smart TV POS. And then he has to manually choose which he input he wants to go to so that they asked to sit there through the ads in the spam and the junk.

So SONY could decide, well, we want people to have to look at our junk. So we're not going to allow the TV to go right back to the input IT was on last time. And then you'd have to every time you turn on the TV or with your smart remote or whatever, you turn on the T V. And then I would have to I guess if you have a smart remote that can do macros, you could do that automatically.

Yeah and again, the title of this email was you get what you pay for, there's no free lunch. So the bottom line is I guess he's saying for his hundred and thirty five dollar TV, that's what you get. If he was spent five hundred dollars for the same size, he probably wouldn't be in that case. Alright.

that not a lot more upset about IT.

if you for sure for sure. Yeah right. Our last emails from Frank and he says, hey, long time listener, this is probably the first time i've ever emails guys.

But I was listening to your podcast and a listener name, Bruce asked about a home kit camera that he could use to replace his ring. I've been using nest products for years before. They were acquired by google a couple of years ago, and I purchased a product called starling hub once insole.

You can see I can see all of my nest cameras and nest and google cameras in homecare. It's been rocked solid since the beginning, and they're constantly updating IT. I currently have about ten cameras dating back to the first generation, next camera to the latest google, and they all work fine, only draw back.

I can see that the starling hub does require an ether net connection, which could be a problem for some if they don't have a spare wired connection in the router. I think it's currently going for eighty nine dollars, and it's quick and easy way to add cameras to any home kit system. And he says, think guys, think guys.

Happy holidays. Frank, I had never heard to start a link, so I. Sara ling, sorry, I want and checked IT out IT looks to me like I could be based on hobs, which I think a lot of hobs is open source and somebody just took IT and put in the pluggin for the google nest cameras and just made IT all boot into that mode automatically. Regardless, it's a pretty cool device if you need to use non homework IT cameras specifically, in this case the nest or google cameras with your home kit.

So is this something you'd be interested, do you? You don't have any .

nice cameras to you. No, I don't have rain cameras. So I wouldn't even be able to test IT out. And now cameras are so cheap and you're gonna see you when we do are many features IT almost would be worth if all you had were the cameras. Just draw away those cameras, but a door bell, maybe that's a little bit more expensive, but cameras that was so cheap will just thrown away and start from scratch with native cameras to your equal system. Yeah, right.

Time for some news.

This first .

news that is interesting. So netflix is nice and poll boxing about got sixty five million viewers at its peak. Netflix is foray into live sports streaming with a boxing match between mike tyson and jake paul through a massive global audience that peaked at sixty five million viewers but resulted in thousands of complaints from viewers about connection problems and frozen screens.

An internal company memo sent by bloomberg news chief technology officer Elizabeth stone said about drew, a maximum of sixty five million viewers at any one time rival ing some of the most watch sporting events. Some of those viewers took to social media to event their frustration over glitches in the streaming of the highly anticipated showdown. More than one hundred thousand users reported network issues on the down detector website throughout the live streaming, commenting on slow buffering and network issues.

Even boxer evening holy field was struggling to hear the host of the show when he was asked about his informal fight with tyson. Netflix declined to comment on the overall outcome of the event. The company's biggest life streaming event is part of its ambition to boost its fledged advertising business.

Netflix has been investing in its live event capabilities for mega spectacles s like the boxing match. After earlier live streaming missteps such as the love is blind reunion debacle, the platform ran a teaser for upcoming nfl games on Christmas day during the friday ballot. So I watched the the boxing match because i'm a netflix subscriber, didn't cost anything extra and IT was terrible.

Netflix mess the bed, as they say, proverbially with the live event streaming. And IT really surprised me because netflix at one point was like thirty percent of internet man within the us. Theyd stream like crazy.

But I guess thinking about IT, they don't really do live streaming. So they don't have that many users connected to the same stream at the same time. But the quality would go bad IT, would freeze, would buffer um you know all sorts of issues with this stream but would just knock IT.

IT was really, really poor experience and sometimes I would have to exit out of the netflix APP in my rogue and then go back into IT to get the stream to come back up. Otherwise I would just sit there spinning forever. Um IT happened on the fight before the the precor fight before the ties and fight.

IT happened during the ties and fight. The funny thing was there was all sort of stuff going on and all sorts of streaming issues. And then there was a clip that they showed of of mike tyson, kind of like an A G string or something, and cheeks out.

And for whatever reason, the stream was perfectly cleared during that scene. And then I went back to to, to garbage after that. I don't know how that happened or why they did that, but IT was bad. IT was, IT was really, really bad. And IT was talking how bad IT was for a company like netflix that was one of the pioneered of online video streaming and has been one of the pioneers of high quality online video streaming.

And they were advertising for this nfl game that's coming up on Christmas and kind of get you thinking of if they have another um experience like that with an in a phil game on Christmas, what happens? Does the NFC? Okay, that's IT.

You had your shot. We're not going to give you another live event because you just you made a miserable for our audience to watch the game on your streaming platform. Or does the nf say, well, you know, not that big deal.

You gave us enough money. People are going to complain. But as long as you keep right in a giant checks, we're going to keep let you have streaming events, we're going to let you have games.

And hopefully you'll get this figured out and you'll fix IT by next season. Did you watch the fight? Ara.

no, I didn't. And my guesses they will get IT figured out there. A big company. They just were probably overwhelmed. And like you said, they've not really done a lot of live streaming.

And this is a different animal because if you and I decided to watch the same show at roughly the same time, if you buffer and then I buffer, but eventually kind gets going. We don't really care that much. But if it's a live event, they were both. Everyone is trying to watch at the same time. IT IT makes IT a difficult endeavor, but I am convinced they'll get to figured out, yeah.

I mean, they sort of have to they've got this nfo game coming up on Christmas that I can't imagine they would want to have another repeat of this sort of experience um but yeah, you right I guess if you're watching something that sort of I could be record IT just a stream episode of something and you get a little bit of buffering or you get a little bit of a quality glitch and then IT comes back to Normal, you can rewind, you can you wait for a second.

It's it's not a huge deal. But when it's live and things are happening live and you can't see IT and you feel like you're missing out on what's actually going on, that's when people start to freak out and they're like, know what's happening. What am I missing? Why can I see what's going on? Life is a very like he said, is a very, very different animal.

And I think for them, you're write, they've got a bunch of people watching the exact dame stream at the exact same time, which you know even though they have like when a new show comes out, a new stranger things or whatever, tons of millions of people watching the new stranger things, they aren't all watching the same minute of the same episode at the same time. So there's probably easier ways for them to kind of spread that out across the the viewing audience. But yeah, you'll get to figured out .

my prediction is by the football games on Christmas, they've never figured out.

Oh, so I think is cool though. If you have a netflix, if you get this stuff, if you don't have to pay extra sy, you get some games or some sporting events, live events for free. And this kind of a cool perk to being an ethnic subscribe.

The next generation of wifi is wifi eight and is currently being developed behind closed doors. This time. However, the emphasis is an on pure speed, but instead on improving user experience.

Why find eight, known as I tripoli, two doa eleven b, an ultra high reliability still remains years away. Wireless technology is in a consent state of improvement. Each progression in the evolution of wifi take several years to discuss, approve and deploy.

Wifi seven, which is the current standard, hasn't even been formally ratified yet, and wifi h should deliver the same band with as wifi seven using the same channels and the same modulation. But wifi eight, what I will do is change how your client devices such as pcs or phones interact with multiple access points. Would the goal of increasing connection reliability.

So I interpret that as, hey, guys, I think we're at a point where this is way more speed than anyone is ever going to need. So let's not make IT faster. Let's just make IT work Better.

Yeah optimizing for the mesh network that everyone is putting in, in their homes now, making sure that you're connected to the closest access point me that have the highest quality connection, you stop connecting to the the one that's further away and don't have a high quality, reliable connection yeah in optimizing versus increasing speed, right? So technological advances and increased competition have lowered the cost of smart tvs to the point where amazon offers a low end model for only eighty dollars.

Course, if you listen to the email section, you know, you get what you pay for and there's no free lunch. But a parks associate survey found the devices present in sixty eight percent of us homes, or the devices are present depending on how you uh, pronounce that word. The devices are present in sixty eight percent of us homes with internet, while forty six percent of those household also own streaming media players.

So smart TV and sixty eight percent of homes, forty six percent of those homes also have an additional streaming media player. And that the low end smart T V models are only eighty dollars. So you know and maybe know you don't want to buy the eighty dollar one because you maybe stuck with a spammy TV that shows you ads all the sign, but the Prices are coming away down. We'll have a little bit more about that in the second .

um yeah and you know what that is? I think, bryan, every TV now is a mark TV because we were just saying we can't find a dumb TV. So obviously, that is going to in the percentage of homes that have IT is going to increase.

But a lot of people still own smart dev or streaming device is streaming media players uh, because either you prefer that platform or one day you've got A T V you've had for a while that just isn't getting updates anymore. In the only way to get the latest software is to get a streaming media player. So I think we're going to be at the point where one hundred percent of homes have a smart T V.

Probably the next couple years now speaking, a smart T V. Black friday is next week. And we've gone through and we've picked out some of the deals.

The the approach we're taking this year is we're going to set you up with the TV, some speakers, a receiver. We're not going to go through every single retail store, although we have picked two of them. And then we have what i'm calling other deals.

And that's just a property of different things that we found that we thought were great deal. So great. And let's start off with best bye best.

I got some great deals. They have a high sense eighty five inch Q D six series q LED fork ultrathin def smart google TV. It's a twenty twenty four model.

It's six hundred and forty nine dollars, you say four hundred fifty box. So as I was over a thousand dollars, this is an eighty five inch TV for six hundred and fifty books. The Prices these days as we go through this list, know you're jaws going to hit the floor on some of these. But eighty five H T V. For six hundred and fifty dollars, just .

ridiculous. I know when you think about that hundred and thirty nine dollar television that a mark was talking about, basically it's another five hundred dollars and you get eighty five inches. Now, granted, wouldn't fit in his kitchen, but it's still ridiculous.

Now if you want a little bit of higher quality TV because that's secured, which is not bad, you can get a seventy seven inch bravia eight OLED also from best buy. It's also a google TV twenty twenty four model for twenty five ninety nine. You say four hundred dollars, the original Price with three thousand dollars. So we're looking that still a lot of money. But when you consider what you're getting, that's a pretty good Price.

And the next one at best buy is an insigne a and this is what mark talked about in his email he had in signa. But this one is a fifty five inch L D four k ultrahigh. def.

Is also a smart fire TV. This one is two hundred and twenty nine dollars, so about one hundred books more than mark spent for thirty two. Now, a fifty five inch television, you save one hundred twenty box IT was three hundred and fifty dollars, but a fifty five H.

T. V. For two hundred and twenty nine dollars, you know, other than the fact that you may deal with some of those issues of of being a bamy TV um is A A really good Price for a television. The email want to put IT like in the garage age or a bonus room or something and if it's in one of those rooms is not a main room that you're using all the time, the spamming ss may not be an issue.

And of course, you because we're going to set up a home theater system for you. We found a pioneer elite ite VS X L X, one of five. It's a seven dot two channel receiver, four hundred and ninety nine dollars.

IT was seven hundred. And so you save three hundred dollars. That's actually really good receiver for five hundred dollars, do you? Member at one point, brain, we were saying the five hundred dollar receivers was kind of mid tear. And what you would get for starting out this one is still mid tear, but it's towards the higher end of the mid tear line.

Yeah, there was a while there where our value receivers, like the antioch and the value receivers, you know, maybe going back ten years were in the five hundred of a Price range um and yeah, the Prices haven't just come down on televisions. The Prices i've come down someone across the board you can put together IT really killed her home theater system now for a fraction of what I would have cost ten years ago. Must come over to costco.

Costco has some amazing deals as well. They've got a samsung seventy inch 4k ultra yd F L D smart TV for four hundred and seventy nine dollars。 You save fifty box on this one, so was five hundred twenty nine and not saving a massive amount.

But this is a samsung seventy inch TV. It's not in an unknown brand. It's not what you would consider to be sort like a door buster. It's a samsung. It's not any geek off the street and it's only four hundred and seventy nine dollars for seventy and samsung. It's you know this is stuff that we never would have even been able to predict when we were doing homework to predictions back in the day that a seventy and samsung would cost .

under five hundred dollars yeah and they threw in three year warranty. That thing the cost code does, their Prices are already pretty low. But what they do is that give you something extra.

And in this case, you get up three year warranty. And the next one is the LG seventy five. It's A Q D ninety series.

It's four k ultra high definition mini ality. It's sixteen hundred dollars actually fifteen, ninety nine, ninety nine. You save two hundred dollars on this. That was seventeen, ninety nine, ninety nine.

But you get five year total coverage because they're adding to the two year warranty that you would already get a three year all, say, protecting policy. So again, you got five years where you don't have to worry about a thing with this TV. Not granted, most LG s will go beyond five years, but you have that piece of mind.

Now I understand a lot of listeners aren't necessarily costco members. You should be. But would that between best buy and costco, you got your tvs covered red, you got your receiver covered. Now the right the next action is what we're calling other deals. These could be from anywhere and will try and tell you where it's from the the deal that we're talking about here.

So this first one that amazon, this is a roku smart TV. It's sixty five inch select series, is a four k HDR television for three hundred and seventy eight dollars. You save about seventy two box that was four fifty before.

But if you're in the roku ecosystem, so you use roku streaming media players connected to your televisions and you want one that you can throw in any room, not to connect an extra box to IT turn IT on your rope, smart interfaces just there built into the television. I have several tvs like this, not this particular mode, with several tvs with broker built in in a super easy, convenient for the kids to use, or whatever. This was only three hundred and seventy eight box. It's a good deal. This is from me.

was on the next one is the biggest savings. It's A T C L N ninety eight in q sixty five q lt four k smart T V with google T V. Now this is not just a regular L D.

So it's a little bit Better than just regular L D. Is fourteen, forty nine, ninety nine. It's a savings of fifteen hundred and fifty dollars. IT was going for twenty nine, ninety nine, ninety nine. This is also from amazon.

If you've got the space for IT and you are looking for a very large format TV, you're going to be hard to hard pressed to beat this because even the high sense, which was eighty five inches not granted, IT IT is about half the Price. So maybe that might be the only reason why you would give up those. But if you want the full large screen experiences, this is the way to go .

and the next televisions back at best buy. This is essentially a Price of date to the TV that mark talked about. It's an insignia thirty two inch L D hd smart fire TV.

It's now seventy five dollars. So you say fifty five bucks on IT IT was closer to the Price that mark paid. IT was once one thousand nine. But on black friday, you can pick you up for seventy five box. This falls into the category that we kind of joke about of being stocking stuffer.

Or you have someone show up over the holidays that is like, I didn't act, buy you a gift and they show up with A A gift for you, like a bottle wine or something. H, I got something for you. Just pull this out of the cause already wrapped here. You can have this this TV, but seventy five books for thirty two smart fire TV. If you're given in a way as a gift, you really, really care if .

it's you know, I still can't get over the fact that my first thirty inch TV was A L C D T V that I bought was a thousand dollars at go. And now here we are, and you're getting a thirty two H T V. And the packaging is probably a third of what the packaging was for seventy five dollars.

unbelievable. And if you want some area pod pro two wireless earbuds, they will run you hundred eighty nine dollars of savings of sixty dollars. They were going for two forty nine. And that also is from amazon and .

then a wall mart. If you don't want the area pod pro, you just want an airports. I got the airport d third generation for ninety four dollars.

You have saved in seventy five bucks. They were one sixty nine, but they drop down to ninety four dollars. I would make a great gift as well. A lot of kids dig in the airports these days um and those are at walmart.

If you go over to target, by the way, all these you can buy online, you do not have to wake up early, go weight in liner anything you can click on these links now and get these now alright, so then is the blink mini tente p security cameras. For seventeen ninety nine, it's the savings of twelve dollars. IT was twenty nine ninety nine.

So even the non black friday Price is pretty insanely low, thirty dollars. But at seventeen ninety nine, these are stocking stuff. Is brain exactly? There's small enough to actually fit in a stocking.

And if you a few more, maybe you want to buy yourself a whole smart security system. They have the blink outdoor for it's a battery powered smart security three camera system. It's one hundred dollars.

That was one sixty. Oh no, you save one sixty. IT was two hundred and fifty dollars so it's A A great deal um and you get three cameras. They are all battery powers. You don't have to worry about getting them plugged into power. You can put them anywhere in the yard and you should only pay one hundred books for what was a two hundred and sixty dollar system before black friday. And we'll be probably after like friday.

And now we're going to go to this rock u streaming sticks. So this may be a way to go in your dumb TV if you've got one. IT is the forecast streaming stick, 4KHDR and dolby vision with voice remote IT goes for thirty four and ninety nine。

Savings of fifteen dollars was Normally fifty dollars. So you know, when you see IT this way where it's only fifteen dollars savings, that's a thirty percent reduction in Price of already low Price, but thirty five dollars. And some of the first roque boxes were over one hundred dollars. And we've come weight down in Price and wait up in performance yeah I think when .

they first brought up, four k was up well over a hundred box, maybe even close to two hundred. But then if you jump over a walmart, they've got the broken premier, which is a fork HDR streaming media player. It's not as small as the stick, but does a lot of the same features.

I don't know if IT has dolby vision, but most of the high quality features that you're looking for in a roku, it's not the best rock u but IT is rocked premiere. It's eighteen dollars. So you're saving twenty two bucks because it's Normally forty dollars.

Getting IT for Better than half Price. That's a walmart. And then we're .

going to move over the S V S for this one is the S V S prime wireless pro sound base. Its four ninety nine is five hundred dollars of savings of two hundred dollars is Normally six hundred ninety nine dollars. So this is a really cool device.

If you listen to two channel system, or if you want, you can connect IT through HDMI to your TV and just put two speakers off to the site. Improve the quality of your audio with this device, but is also as airplay too, so you can cast music to IT. I believe IT has chrome cast for audio as well, so there's a lot of ways to send your music to. This is a more visible box than just getting eh sound bar, which we have a sound bar coming up to. But still, if you want to do this and give you a little bit more capability .

and then if you've been having issues with your wifi and you've been thinking about putting in a mesh wifi system, amazon's got their ero pro sixe. why? Mesh wifi? That's the newest model. It's a three packs. We get three nodes for three hundred and fifty dollars are saved in two hundred box on that IT was it's typically runs for five hundred and fifty dollars. This will give you the ability to run one where your current wifi router is, and then put two others of further extremes in the home or in the garages or wherever you struggle to get wifi. Maybe taught the backyard if you want to get wifi in the backyard and expand the wifi cover in your house, and you can pick you up on black friday for three hundred and fifty .

books and sound bar we were talking about as a cinema twelve hundred sound bar. It's a five out, one out four system. This is clip.

It's seven hundred ninety nine dollars. It's a savings of eleven hundred dollars that was going for eighteen ninety nine. So if you want to do a little bit more sophisticated sound with a sound bar, this is a way to go. And then all .

of the direct to consumer speaker companies, namely svs and rsl, are running great sales on their speakers. If you want new speakers or if you need new speakers, or you just feel like new speakers would be a good thing to get for yourself. For under the tree, check out sv s, check out R, S, L, because they are running, create deals on their speakers on black friday.

A big fans. I'm a big fan of sv S I O S V S speakers over the years, and I have two SBS subs right now, but they make high quality speakers in addition to their really high quality subs. Rsl, similar in the same way the same way. I've never earned rs speakers, but they make high quality speakers as well. So if you're in the market for speakers, black friday is a good day to check out those two brands and .

see what kind of deals you can pick up. I've got a programmer er for next week being thanksgiving. We are going to take IT easy. We're going to do a shorten depilto de will do and news whatever news comes up between now and then, i've got a small feature already lined up for. But more or less, it'll just be one of our short ten episodes because of the holiday in the united states.
