On April 11, 2022, the trial that took over everyone’s lives began.  Johnny Depp sued Amber Heard for defamation due to an op-ed that she wrote for *The Washington Post *where she referred to herself as a “public figure representing domestic abuse.”  He was asking for $50 million while she counter-sued for $100 million.  Both Johnny Depp and Amber Heard alleged domestic abuse from the other.
