Janelle asks and Panos answers:
"I have a question about our (maybe) Terrier Cross 'Frankie' approx 5 years old adopted from Sutherland Shire Animal Shelter 4 years ago.
He HATES strangers, which is OK, but now that my kids are teens (11 and 13) they're wanting to have their friends sleepover at our house and it isn't going well.
I have muzzle trained him for everyone's safety, I keep him when muzzled when kids friends are around. But once he sees the "stranger" in our house he bolts towards the growling/barking and sometimes snaps at them.
I have tried greeting kids friends on mutual territory before they come into house. I've told the friends to completely ignore our dog like he doesn't exist.
But honestly it's scary for the friends, and once they squeal or run, it's worse.
Besides putting our dog in another room when we have people over. Do you have any suggestions so everyone can co-exist safely?"
