英文数学作业，还有自制太阳能炉烤棉花糖？中学里痛并快乐着。 Q: 大家好。For this week’s discussion, We will address studying related topics. L: Hi, XImalaya, this is Lindsay from NY again. Studying is challenging（挑战性）and can be tiring. But there are subjects that I do like, such as writing. Q: Has your teacher offered you an opportunity（机会） to write in class? L:  Yes, for English, we were asked to write a spooky short story in honor of Halloween. I’m excited to do so, although i don’t have many ideas at this moment. But I have already started to draft out some plots and characters. I enjoy writing mystery stories. it provides room for exercising my imagination. Q: Halloween, 万圣节，在10/31日，这是小孩子们最喜欢的节日，为配合圣诞节，英文老师要他们写一个有关幽灵的神秘的故事。 Spooky就是有些神怪悬疑恐怖的那种感觉。Lindsay 最爱写作，准备大显身手。神秘，Mystery，是最好发挥想象力的题材。有关万圣节的内容我们下周节目再细说。 L：For technology（技术）, we have begun to make our solar cookers, which will convert the energy and light of the sun into enough heat to cook s’mores. One of my partners for the project is ordering a tiny pot for this project. Q：Solar就是太阳能的意思。技术课上，要做一个太阳能锅来烤棉花糖，S' more就是棉花糖。中学里有一个工具非常齐全的技术教室，甚至有电锯，给孩子们一个动手做东西的体验，并且多少包含一点科技原理。Lindsay班级目前这个项目倒没有用什么大型工具，我猜主要需要一些能够反光吸热的材料吧。Lindsay， What material do you need for this project? L: We need all sorts of materials to create a solar oven! Reflective materials, such as aluminum foil or mirrors, are needed to reflect the sun’s light. We also need something to insulate the solar oven, like cardboard, and we need a container（容器）, preferably black to attract（吸引） and hold heat, to cook our food in.   Q: Reflective, 反光的。Aluminum Foil，铝箔纸。Insulate，隔热。用来隔热的是Cardboard，硬纸板。想想做好了，一大帮孩子带着他们的锅操场阳光下烤棉花糖的画面就觉得很欢乐。下面我问一下她有关家庭作业的问题。 How much time do you need to work on your homework, and what kind of homework do you usually have? L: I normally have math homework and a journal for english， along with work from my French class every day. It doesn’t normally（正常地）take too long for me to complete, I will say around 40 minutes. But I will have to practice piano and violin everyday, plus cross country training, and extra reading and writing. With all these in mind,  my after school life is very busy. Q: **Journal **就是日志刊物的意思，LIndsay英文老师每周布置一篇有主题的写作任务，可以把Journal当作有连续性的个人写作记录来理解。Does your teacher check homework everyday? L: My math teacher checks our homework every day, and our english journals are due every friday of each week. Our english teacher doesn’t read them, he just quickly skims （撇去，浏览） them to make sure we wrote something at least. My french teacher also checks our language homework everyday. Q: Your backpack is very very heavy. What are in your backpack? What do you carry everyday to school? L: In my backpack i keep my chromebook, homework and pencil case, which are my basic necessities （必需品）for my school. I keep my binders at school because they are too heavy to carry around. I also bring my lunch to school when I pack lunch, and my calculator I keep in my chromebook case. When I have orchestra （弦乐团）I bring my violin to school as well. Q: Chromebook是学校使用的谷歌产品，一种便携电脑。很多作业都在那上面完成上交给相应老师。老师们也会在谷歌系统里更新课程要求，进度，考试分数，家庭作业这些。每个学生都有一个。这个便携机的互联网功能有严格限制，基本只有有限的学习资源可以接触到。也不让下载非教学用的应用。Binder就是夹子，学习笔记下方资料就一起放里面，LIndsay并不带它们回家，太重了，只带家庭作业本回家。每天还要带自己的午饭，每隔一天有弦乐课，带小提琴。有些小朋友要是课后有游泳训练，还要带换洗衣服，是非常麻烦的一堆出门的东西上校车。
