放冬假之前，去法国餐馆感受餐饮文化，然后回学校进行紧急情况演练。学校教知识，学文化，练习面对可能的不适应。 Happy new year, my ximalaya friends! This is Lindsay from new York. Hi, this is Qingchuan. Happy new year! It has been more than 2 weeks since we talked last time. School was closed for winter break and we were all out for family vacation. Sorry we stopped updating but I promise you that we will make it up soon. Make it up, 就是补上的意思。顺便说一下女孩子的化妆叫MAKEUP，不要搞混了。Yes, we have a lot that we want to share after such a long break. Let’s go back to the last school week in 2018. In that week, I went to a field trip for my French class! We went to a French restaurant to try french food for lunch. Lindsay took French as her 2nd language at school. 法国文化又怎么少得了著名的法式餐饮。所以学校安排了上法语课的学生去法国餐馆体验。what did you have, Lindsay? I ordered French onion soup （洋葱汤）for my appetizer, steak and fries for my main meal and profiteroles for my dessert. Appetizer，开胃菜，头台。Main Meal，主菜。Dessert，甜点。法式洋葱汤做头台，牛排炸土豆条是主菜。Profiteroles，一种法式泡芙。 The French onion soup was very good, with pieces of baguette, which is a type of French bread, soaked in the soup。My steak and fries were quite delicious as well, but I couldn’t finish the whole thing. In french, steak and fries is called steak-frites. The dessert, profiterole, is like a big cream puff （泡芙）with vanilla（香草） ice cream （冰激凌）inside and whipped cream on the side, drizzled（滴上） in chocolate syrup（糖浆）. That was incredibly delicious!（难以置信的美味）
baguette，法棍面包，长长的，撕开了泡在汤里吃，soak，浸泡。Lindsay刚刚也说到了法语怎么说牛排和炸薯条，讲究的法国餐馆，菜单都是法语的，要是会用法文点餐，服务生一定对你另眼相看。甜点是一种泡芙，有图有真相，口水啊。。。。 Some of my friends ordered escargot, or snails, for their appetizer. I tried one and it doesn’t taste too bad, but it is very chewy. I loved eating different food. It was a refreshing change from my typical cafeteria （餐厅，一般比较简餐）school lunch. Escargot，法文的蜗牛，chewy就是有嚼劲儿的。日常里换一种饮食很新鲜带来新感受，很refreshing。法语课上到餐馆里，吃吃喝喝中学学怎么读法国菜单，理解法国人民为何如此爱美食，还有什么比食物更能沟通比餐桌上更能交流文化。 In the last school week before winter break, we all enjoyed the holiday spirit by giving gifts to our friends and our favorite teachers. As for me, I couldn’t wait to relax and sleep in. But not everything is all jingle bells and presents, and our drill on that week reminded us of that. Drill，原本是钻头，一种工具。也有训练操练的意思，学校里的Drill，就像一种紧急情况的预演程序。 In school we had safe shelters in place. My grade, seventh grade, went to the auditorium（演出会议大厅）. Each grade is sorted into different places to stay while waiting for the drill to be over. The drill is to prepare us for all sorts of bad things that could happen such as severe weather conditions. But not even the drill could stop me from being happy because school was finally over for this year! LIndsay这是掩饰不住的开心啊！ Of course！ Next time I will share with you my ski trip during winter break.
