The Coolest Game—Playing on Ice: Curling 冬奥小百科——冰上的碰撞：冰壶 Welcome to The Coolest Games, in each episode of this series, we’ll be giving you a breakdown of a different winter Olympic sport. Today we’re having a look at curling, one of the oldest team sports in the world, and the first event of Beijing 2022. 欢迎来到冬奥小百科。在这个系列的每一集中，我们将给你带来冬奥会中的不同运动项目。今天我们来看看最古老的团体运动之一——冰壶，而冰壶也是2022年北京冬奥会的揭幕赛事。 Curling first originated in 16th century Scotland. The game was played on frozen ponds and lochs, using curling stones from Ailsa Craig, a little island off the coast of Scotland. Ailsa Craig granite is some of the hardest and purest in the world, the stone maintains its shape despite the moist, wet conditions of the ice surface. 冰壶最初起源于16世纪的苏格兰。该项目在冰冻的池塘和湖泊上进行，使用的是艾尔萨·克雷格岛（苏格兰海岸外的一个小岛）的冰壶石。艾尔萨克雷格花岗岩是世界上最坚硬、最纯净的岩石中的一种，尽管冰面潮湿，这种石头仍能保持原状，不受侵蚀。 Curling is known as “Chess on Ice”. During a match, each player slides round stones called “Rocks”, across the ice field toward the “button” in the center of the house marked with concentric bands. The bottom of a curling stone is concave, and there is a handle on the top. 大家将冰壶运动称作“冰上的国际象棋”。在一场比赛中，每位运动员会滑动一块叫做“砥石”的圆形石头，让它穿过冰面，到达冰壶营垒圆形区域的“按钮”状中心处。冰壶底部是凹形的，顶部有一个把手。 The object of the game is for each side to place its rocks closest to the center. 冰壶比赛的最终目标是参与选手能够让冰壶接近在最靠近中心的位置。 Each team consists of 4 players, the Lead, the Second, the Third, sometimes called the “vice-skip”, and the Skip, who is also the team captain. A match is divided into 10 ends, 16 rocks are “delivered” in one end. Each team takes turns delivering rocks down the sheet, beginning with the Lead, and ending with the Skip, two rocks are delivered by each player in one End. One point is awarded for each rock that comes to rest nearer to the button than an opponent’s rock. A team can score up to 8 points in one end, if no stones are in the house, or the nearest opposing stone is equidistant from the center of the button, there is no score. 每队由4名队员组成，分为一垒、二垒、三垒和队长（主力）。比赛共进行10局，共投掷16颗冰壶。每人分别投掷两颗冰壶，双方从一垒开始、到主力结束，轮流投掷冰壶。冰壶位于圆垒中、位置最接近圆垒中心的队伍得分。每颗位于圆垒中、位置较另队所有冰壶都更接近圆心皆可获计1分，每支队伍一轮可累计8分。若属于不同队的两颗冰壶无法判定何者较接近圆心时，除非另有冰壶更接近圆心，该局将被视为不计分。 Curling has been a medal sport in the Winter Olympics since the 1998 edition of the Games, and in the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics, the competition will take place from February 2nd to 20th at the National Aquatics Center, also known as "The Water Cube". There will be 10 participating teams in the men's, women's and mixed doubles competitions. In the preliminary round, the ten teams play a "round-robin" tournament and the four best teams advance to the semifinals and the medal matches. 自1998年冬奥会以来，冰壶比赛就成为产生奖牌的竞技项目（此前冬奥会中有表演赛等项目，没有奖牌诞生）。在2022年北京冬奥会上，该项比赛将于2月2日至20日期间举办，地点位于国家游泳中心（“水立方”）。届时将有10支参赛队伍，参加男子、女子和混合团体的比赛。在预赛中，10支队伍进行小组循环赛，角逐出四支最好的队伍晋级半决赛和决赛。 Did you know that curling shoes are different? Each pair of curling shoes, has as slider shoe, and a gripper shoe.
