LANTERN FESTIVAL DANCE GALA PAYS TRIBUTE TO THE BLUE SKY RESCUE 上海国际舞蹈中心元宵节舞会致敬“蓝天救援队” The Shanghai International Dance Center has gathered 13 amateur dance troupes and organizations around the city to present dance gala over the weekend at the theater. This year the gala is paying tribute to the great contributions made by "The Blue Sky Rescue", an non-profit emergency rescue organization. Sun Siqi has more. 为庆祝即将到来的元宵节，上海国际舞蹈中心聚集了全市13个业余舞蹈团体和组织，并于周末举办了舞蹈晚会。今年的晚会是为了致敬非营利性紧急救援组织“蓝天救援”项目，宣扬他们做出的巨大贡献。更多信息请听孙思琪的的报道。 The dance show involves a handful of amateur dancers ranging in age from 6 to 73 and covers a number of dance styles, including ballet, traditional Chinese classical dance, hip-pop, and Flamingo. Organizers began accepting applications last October, 120 groups of participants in Shanghai submitted applications to be part of the show. One highlight was "Swing Trip" from SwingTopia. Founded in 2019, the dance club won 2021 International Lindy Hop Championships. This year, the dance center chose to focus on "The Blue Sky Rescue", China’s largest non-profit civil emergency rescue organization. BSR has over 30,000 registered volunteers. IAEA EXPERTS ARRIVE IN JAPAN TO DISCUSS FUKUSHIMA WATER RELEASE 国际原子能机构抵达日本审查污水排海计划 An International Atomic Energy Agency【国际原子能机构】taskforce began a mission in Japan today to review the controversial planned release of treated water from the Fukushima nuclear plant into the ocean. An extensive pumping and filtration【过滤】system removes most radioactive【放射性】 elements, and Japan says the plan to dilute and release the water over several decades is safe. The IAEA has endorsed the release, which it says is similar to the disposal of wastewater at nuclear plants elsewhere. The Japanese government and Tokyo Electric Power Company announced plans last year to begin gradually releasing the contaminated【受污染的】 water in spring 2023 after further treatment and dilution【稀释】. The plan sparked ire from residents in Fukushima as well as neighboring countries over environmental and safety concerns. As of June 2021, 266 people had been diagnosed with thyroid cancer or suspected thyroid cancer following a Fukushima Prefectural Government survey involving around 380,000 people who were aged 18 or under at the time of the disaster. Wang made the remarks while re-affirming China’s stance on the Ukraine issue, stressing that all relevant parties should push for a comprehensive settlement of the crisis through dialogue and negotiation.
