ASTRONAUTS HOLD PAINTING EXHIBITION ON SPACE STATION 中国空间站首次！天宫画展拉开序幕 Around 20 paintings were displayed in an exhibition held by three astronauts on the country’s space station during a video chat with students in Beijing, Hong Kong and Macao last Saturday. Zhang Yue has more. 上周六（1月1日），天宫画展在中国空间站正式拉开帷幕，共展出20余幅画作。三名宇航员主持了画展，并与来自北京、香港和澳门的学生们进行了视频交流。 The paintings featured【以...为特征】students’ thoughts about life in space. 展出的画作里满载着学生们对太空生活的憧憬。 Wang Yaping Astronaut 王亚平，航天员 “This is the first time our space station has held an exhibition. The paintings, which are a new year’s gift to us, were drawn by teenagers from 11 central and western cities. I will work hard and try to be an excellent astronaut like Miss Wang.”我在电视里看到我画的画，特别高兴。我一定要好好学习，以后也要像亚平老师一样，成为一名优秀的航天员。 The China Manned Space Engineering Office【中国载人航天工程办公室】 worked with 208 scientific institutions like the China Aerospace Foundation【中国航天基金会】to arrange the live chat between the astronauts and students. 中国载人航天工程办公室联合中国航天基金会等208所单位组织开展了这次中西部青少年与空间站航天员的线上交流活动。 2. CENTRAL BANK LAUNCHES DIGITAL YUAN APP TRIALS 数字人民币试点版App来了！ China today released pilot versions【试点版本】of its digital yuan wallet application, another step in the central bank’s drive to push development of its own digital currency. 今日（1月4日），中央银行发布数字人民币钱包应用的试点版本——数字人民币（试点版）APP。这是央行推动发展数字货币的又一步。 The app was developed by the People’s Bank of China’s digital currency research institute, and is now available for download on Android and Apple app stores in China. According to an in-app notice, the pilot app is open for registration【注册】 in 12 regions of the country, including Shanghai, Shenzhen, Xiong-An New Area and Winter Olympics sites in Beijing and Zhangjiakou, Hebei Province. 数字人民币（试点版）App的开发者为中国人民银行数字货币研究所，现已在各大安卓应用商店和苹果AppStore上架。应用内显示，该试点版本已在全国12个地区开放注册，试点区域包括上海、深圳、雄安新区以及北京和河北省张家口的冬奥会场馆。 3. 5 NUCLEAR-WEAPON STATES AGREE TO NO ARMS RACE 核武器五国发表联合声明，拒绝军备竞赛 Leaders of the five Nuclear-Weapon States, namely China, France, Russia, Britain and the United States have issued a joint statement on preventing nuclear war and avoiding arms races【军备竞赛】. This is the first time the five countries have issued a joint statement on nuclear weapons. Sun Siqi has more. 昨日（1月3日），五个核武器国家（中国、法国、俄罗斯、英国、美国）共同发表《关于防止核战争与避免军备竞赛的联合声明》。这是五国首次就核武器问题发声声明。 The statement affirms that a nuclear war cannot be won and must never be fought. As the use of nuclear weapons would have far-reaching【影响深远的】consequences, the countries also affirmed that nuclear weapons should serve only defensive purposes, deter【威慑】aggression, and prevent war. The further spread of such weapons must be prevented. 五国申明，核战争打不赢也打不得。鉴于核武器使用将造成影响深远的后果，只要核武器继续存在，就应该服务于防御目的、慑止侵略和防止战争，必须防止核武器进一步扩散。 The countries said they would continue seeking bilateral and multilateral diplomatic approaches to avoid military confrontations, strengthen stability and predictability, increase mutual understanding and confidence, and prevent an arms race that would benefit none and endanger all. The five countries also voiced their intention to maintain and further strengthen their national measures to prevent unauthorized or unintended use of nuclear weapons, reaffirming that none of their nuclear weapons are targeted at each other or at any other State. 五国重申应对核威胁的重要性，强调维护和遵守双、多边不扩散、裁军和军控协议和承诺的重要性，并将继续遵守《不扩散核武器条约》各项义务，同时表明愿与各国一道努力，创造更有利于促进裁军的安全环境，最终目标是以各国安全不受减损的原则，建立一个无核武器世界，防止一场危及各方的军备竞赛。 UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on Monday welcomed the nuclear-weapon states’ joint statement on the prevention of nuclear war and avoidance of arms races. Guterres said he’s looking forward to further details about future initiatives. 联合国秘书长古特雷斯通过发言人对声明表示欢迎。他指出，核武器国家承诺采取措施防止核战争，符合他为此目的进行对话与合作的长期呼吁。他期待进一步了解未来举措的细节。 Also on Monday, Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Ma Zhaoxu said that China will continue to contribute its wisdom and proposals to global nuclear governance, and is ready to carry out cooperation with all peace-loving countries. 中国外交部副部长马朝旭当日表示，中方愿与所有热爱和平的国家进行合作，未来将继续为推动核领域全球治理贡献中国智慧。 Ma Zhaoxu Chinese Vice Foreign Minister 马朝旭，中国外交部副部长 “China has always maintained a nuclear strategy that is defensive in nature, pursued a policy of no-first-use of nuclear weapons, and maintained its nuclear force at the minimum level required for safeguarding national security.
