In yoga, sakshi is a key element of meditation. For meditation to be effective, the yoga doer must become a neutral observer of his/her thoughts, breath and body. Without this detached form of self-observation, one will fail to achieve the benefits of meditation.As sakshi, the yoga doer distances him/herself from the body and thoughts, and instead rests in pure awareness.
