Hey Bapl Nation,
Just had an eye-opening #LiveInTheLab chat with David Arsenault, a former athlete turned visionary on a mission to empower children through movement.
We dove deep into topics that challenged conventional wisdom.
The takeaways:
š¢ Redefining Balance
āBalance is an illusion,ā says David.
I agree.
If youāve been following the show over the past couple of weeks, youāll know that Iāve been hammering on the concept of life tasksāthe things you simply have to do for daily success.
When you think about it, there is no ābalanceā.
Life is a series of responsibilities, and you simply have to make time for them allāor suffer the consequences.
According to David, ābalanceā is not some fixed thing to strive for.
Itās dynamic and requires a constant coordination of responsibilities and goals.
š¢ Be Vulnerable, but Never Compromise Yourself
Here at the Lab, weāre big fans of being vulnerable.
David agrees.
But he has also learned that vulnerability can get you down when you over-extend yourself.
So, remember:
Thereās a fine line between being vulnerable and being a people-pleaser who risks burnout.
Prioritize your own well-being and know your own boundaries.
š¢ Authenticity and Integrity
When youāre not authentic in your endeavors, youāre just using people for your own benefit without thinking about how your actions might impact them, for better or worse.
Donāt be that person.
Whatever you do, be clear on your goals and purpose. And always strive to help others.
Finally, we canāt talk about authenticity without talking about integrity.
Integrity is about genuine self-presentation.
Who you are in private is who you should be presenting when interacting with other people. Thatās when youāll find your tribe and support network.
š Check David's impactful project, Champions for Life. It's a heartfelt initiative focused on developing children's physical literacy and is a testament to the power of purpose-driven work.
