  • A man from Mizoram has tested positive for coronavirus. He tested positive at Guwahati Medical College Hospital.The man has now been admitted to Zoram Medical College in Mizoram.The man is a 50-year-old Aizawl man with recent travel history to Holland.His family has been kept in isolation.

  • A nurse from Medanta Hospital in Gurgaon has tested positive for coronavirus. The patient has now been kept at Civil Hospital in Panipat.

  • A 54-year-old man died in Madurai in Tamil Nadu. He was COVID-19 positive. He also had medical history of prolonged illness with steroid dependent COPD, uncontrolled Diabetes with Hypertension, Dr C Vijayabaskar, Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Government of Tamil Nadu informed through tweet.

  • State councilor and foreign minister of China Wang Yi spoke with S Jaishankar, External Affairs Minister of India over the phone. The former urged India to not ostracize China in this hour of crisis.  China also hoped that India was “opposed” to the “narrow mindset” of using the phrase “China virus”

  • Bollywood Singer Kanika Kapoor has tested coronavirus positive for the third time. She is undergoing treatment at the Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGIMS). The Director of the Hospital Prof RK Dhiman informed that until two of her tests come out negative, she will have to continue her treatment for coronavirus.

  • India might see a spike in coronavirus cases by Mid-May. The number could be as high as 13 lakh, according to a report published by COV-IND-19 Study Group. "So far, the number of people tested in India has been relatively small. In the absence of widespread testing, it is impossible to quantify the magnitude of 'community transmission', in other words, estimate how many are infected outside hospitals and health care facilities," states the report.

  • Analysts say that impact of Coronavirus on Indian economy could be as much as Rs 9 lakh crore (USD 120 billion) or 4 per cent of the GDP. But the government may come up with an economic package to prevent the COVID-19 pandemic from causing major harm to the economy.

  • Due to lockdown amid coronavirus pandemic, migrant workers from Gujarat return to Rajasthan. Bus, air and train services around the country are not functioning and people have been asked to stay indoors. Most migrants who work at tea stalls and food joints are going back as the owners do not have money to pay them.

  • Due to lockdown in India, a groom from Ghaziabad who was unable to travel to Patna for his wedding, decided to go ahead with the ceremony through video conferencing. Therefore, the Nikah took place online.

  • Coronaviruses are zoonotic viruses, meaning they are transmitted between animals and people.  PETA has come up with a blog on the origin of such viruses and their link to wet markets.“Experts believe that the novel coronavirus originated at the Huanan Seafood Market, a wet market in Wuhan, China. A wet market (sometimes referred to as a “wildlife market”) sells live and dead animals—including fish, birds, badgers, bats, pangolins (scaly anteaters), and turtles—for human consumption,” PETA states in its blog.

  • 71-year-old Prince Charles, the son of Queen Elizabeth II, has tested positive for coronavirus. Clarence house said in a statement:“The Prince of Wales has tested positive for coronavirus. He has been displaying mild symptoms but otherwise remains in good health and has been working from home throughout the last few days as usual.
