  • A 23-year-old girl from Manipur who just returned from the UK has tested positive for coronavirus. This becomes the first case of coronavirus from North Eastern part of the country. India’s total tally for coronavirus might soon hit 500. So far nine deaths have been reported.

  • Amid coronavirus update six out of eight North Eastern states in India will be under lockdown. Assam will be under lockdown from 6 pm on Tuesday till March 31 in the wake of the novel coronavirus pandemic in the country. Making the announcement at a press conference held at Janata Bhawan Himanta Biswa Sarma said that people would not be able to come out to the streets and violators of the lockdown would face imprisonment from 6 months to 2 years. Arunachal Pradesh will go on lockdown until March 31.  In Tripura lockdown will be effective from 2 p.m. on Tuesday until March 31. All essential services would stay operational and vehicles associated with the health and emergency services will function.  The Manipur government declared lockdown, except emergency and essential services until March 31. Mizoram will be under one-week partial lockdown from Sunday night until March 29.

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the nation at 8 pm today to talk about vital aspects relating to the menace of COVID-19.

  • Finance Minister of India has extended IT return until Jun 30. Nirmala Sitharaman, has announced 8-point economic relief due to lockdown amid coronavirus threat. These are related to: Income Tax compliance; GST compliance; Customs compliance; MCA compliance; IBC compliance; Fisheries compliance; Bank-related compliance and Commerce-related compliance.

  • Kolkata police has come to the rescue of  IndiGo staff who was harassed and taunted by her neighbours who accused her of spreading coronavirus. The woman is visibly upset and breaks down while narrating her ordeal. She says that her mother is also denied groceries while she is at work.

  • A man from Yunnan Province died while he was heading back to Shandong Province for work on a bus on Monday. The 32 other people who were on the same bus were also tested for the virus. Hantaviruses are a family of viruses spread mainly by rodents and can cause varied disease syndromes in people worldwide. Infection with any hantavirus can produce hantavirus disease in people.

  • A man from Arizona in the United States had died and his wife is critical after the couple took chloroquine phosphate as an effort to self-medicate themselves against coronavirus. The USA had approved ‘chloroquine’ — an anti-malarial drug — for use as a treatment against the new coronavirus, US President Donald Trump had informed.
