Health and Family Welfare department, Govt. of Assam State Surveillance Unit,IDSP National Health Mission, Assam has come up with a report on coronavirus situation in the state. Assam state has strengthened the surveillance and control measures against the disease.The report has updated numbers of people screened in the state as well as helpline numbers. Rapid Response Teams have been constituted in all the districts and have been trained and oriented to deal with the situation.
To prevent the spread of coronavirus, Government of Assam has ordered all ‘Bars and Pubs’ in Guwahati to stay shut until March 31.“All IMFL “ON” shops to remain closed upto 31st March, 2020 with immediate effect and until further orders,” according to a notification order from EXCOM, Assam.
Amidst novel coronavirus scare , Guwahati Medical College and Hospital authority has arranged facility of nine exclusive cabins for keeping and treating coronavirus patients. Already, 19 suspected coronavirus patients were admitted and examined in the GMCH, informed superintendent Dr. Ramen Talukdar. However, no coronavirus positive case has been found in the examinations so far, Dr Talukdar added.
Officials have urged people to be aware of reports claiming some people in Dibrugrah have tested positive for coronavirus. The suspected coronavirus patient admitted to AMCH in Dibrugarh has tested negative for coronavirus, the administration said, further adding that reports saying four positive cases of COVID-19 in the region is also false.
Kamrup(Metro) Chief Judicial Megistrate Court has decided to hear only urgent matter till March 29 in a bid to prevent spread of the dreaded coronavirus. The decision has been welcomed by the legal fraternity.

Amid coronavirus scare, National Restaurant Association of India (NRAI) has sent advisory to members urging them to shut operations until March 31. The decision was taken keeping in mind the safety of staff. It is less to do with business, said the association.

A doctor from Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh has tested positive for coronavirus.He was treating patients affected with COVID-19.“His sample tested positive for the virus while samples of his 14 other colleagues in the same team tested negative. The doctor who tested positive had collected samples of many patients,” said Dr Sudhir Singh spokesperson at King George’s Medical University.His team members have tested negative, according to reports.
