Assam COVID-19 patients’ age range between 18 and 71, informed Assam Health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma during a press conference. Most cases of COVID are seen from 50 to 60 years. As of now 79 percent of COVID patients are male and 21 percent are female.
4 COVID-19 patients recovering in Assam are from UP, said Sarma. Out of 34 COVID-19 cases in Assam 32 related to Tablighi Jammat, informed Assam Health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
So far 725 people from Assam stuck outside the state have been provided financial assistance of Rs 25k. Amid lockdown the state government had decided to provide economic benefit to residents of Assam with severe health issues seeking treatment outside state.
Police have arrested 23-year-old Mohammad Amir Elias for spitting on a woman from Manipur. The incident took place at Kalina Military Camp located in Santacruz East on April 6 post which the girl lodged a complaint with the police. The man allegedly removed his mask and spat at the girl who was there to collect food items distributed amid lockdown. After CCTV footage was analysed, the man who is a resident of Kurla (West) was arrested. He said that it was an accident and he did not do it deliberately. He has been booked under various sections of IPC.
After a relative of a sanitation worker at Gate number 17, in Pocket-A in President’s Estate died from coronavirus, his house was sealed. 30 families who live in the Estate had to be quarantined. The worker had visited a relative of his undergoing treatment. None of the families have shown any symptoms of coronavirus so far.

An 85-year-old man died at a hospital in Malappuram after recovering from coronavirus. He tested negative for coronavirus on April 7, 10 and 13, Malappuram District Collector Jafar Malik told media. The man was undergoing treatment for coronary artery disease kidney ailment and diabetes. He died from these complications and the death will therefore be not treated as COVID-19 death. Funeral services will be carried out as per protocols set during lockdown but no COVID-19 guidelines will be followed, claim reports.
