  • BJP has announced that Bhubaneswar Kalita will be the party candidate from Assam for Rajya Sabha. The party has made announcements for  Bihar, Gujarat, MP, Jharkhand, Manipur, Maharashtra and Rajasthan. Jyotiraditya Scindia has been announced as BJP’s RS candidate from MP. All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) and the Congress have nominated senior journalist Ajit Kumar Bhuyan as Rajya Sabha candidate from the state for the third seat in Assam. The Rajya Sabha polls will be held on March 26 from 9 am to 4 pm.

  • The Assam State Election Commission has announced the dates of the upcoming Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) elections. According to an official statement, the elections will be held on April 4, and counting will begin on April 8. The poll hours are fixed from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. The last date for filing nominations is March 18 while the last date for the withdrawal of candidature is 21 March. The publication of the list of contesting candidates is on 21 March.

  • Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has broken his silence over Jyotiraditya Scindia joining the BJP after leaving Congress. He said that his house was always open for him.Gandhi also retweeted an old picture of him with Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath and Scindia. Meanwhile, Yashodhara Raje, an aunt of Jyotiraditya Scindia, welcomed his decision to join the BJP after he quit the Congress, saying it is a courageous step by Scindia.

  • Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla has withdrawn the suspension of all seven Congress MPs. The Seven Congress MPs which included Gaurav Gogoi were suspended from parliament last week for disrupting the proceedings of the house. They had been suspended for creating ruckus in the House and snatching papers from the speaker’s table.

  • As a precautionary measure in the wake of the deadly Novel Coronavirus outbreak, Indian pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar hinted that they might limit the usage of saliva to shine the white ball during the first ODI against South Africa. However, Bhuvneshwar said a decision on the matter will be taken during a meeting by the team doctor later on Wednesday.

  • On Tuesday US President Donald Trump said that he has not been tested for the new COVID-19 as his doctor has advised him not to do so at this time since he does not have any symptoms. The President’s comments was made after his press secretary confirmed late Monday night that the president has not taken a test, despite the fact that the President has interacted with at least 3 individuals who have been exposed to an individual with the disease.
