  • 36 Students caught cheating were expelled during the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) examination, 2020 will began on February 10 all over the State. According to reports, 21 students were expelled in Dhubri ;  2 in Darrang;  1 in Goalpara; 5 in Hailakandi; 3 in Lakhimpur and 4 in Nagaon district. Misconduct by HSLC/AHM students during examinations may end in rustication of up to three years. The rustication of students for misconduct is part of the SEBA’s (Board of Secondary Education, Assam) bandobast for fair examinations this year.

  • Shubanso Pul, son of Arunachal Pradesh’s former Chief Minister Kalikho Pul’s, was found dead under suspicious circumstances, at his apartment in Brighton, Sussex (United Kingdom). Shubanso was born to Dangwimsai Pul, who was Kalikho Pul’s first wife. The family is trying to get in touch with the Indian High Commission in London (UK), so that his body could be brought back to India. For a fact Kalikho Pul was found hanging in his room on August 9, 2016, less than a month after the Supreme Court ordered the removal of his government and ruled against his appointment as chief minister of Arunachal Pradesh with the support of some Congress MLAs.

  • Six pythons belonging to an endangered species were slaughtered for consumption at Simlung near the Tripura-Mizoram border in North Tripura district. The snakes were then publicly decapitated, skinned out, cut into pieces, and eaten, according to media reports. The creatures were killed by people from a local tribal community around 221 km away from Agartala. Authorities are trying to identify the people through video clips and photographs of the incident that has gone viral on social media.

  • AAP’s Arvind Kejriwal is all set to begin yet another term as the Chief Minister of Delhi. After defeating major political rival BJP in this election, AAP is expected to sweep Delhi polls. While people are waiting for the final results, congratulatory messages have started pouring in from politicians including Election strategist Prashant Kishor and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

  • A girl student who was India’s first positive case of coronavirus in Thrissur is recovering well. Her condition is now stable, officials said. The girl who had returned from China’s Wuhan was kept in isolation in a hospital after testing positive for coronavirus.  “The blood test result of the first patient from Thrissur, from the National Institute of Virology (NIV) testing centre at Alappuzha, shows a negative result. But we need confirmation from the NIV at Pune,”  said a senior medical officer. The health department in a statement said that a total of 3,252 people are still under observation across the state, out of which 3,218 are under home quarantine. According to WHO’s latest situation report, 909 deaths have occurred in China due to coronavirus outbreak. 40 235 confirmed cases in China have been reported so far.

  • A student from Madhya Pradesh’s Hoshangabad has proposed Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s name for the Guinness Book of World Records for losing a record 27 elections, say reports. Vishal Diwan, an engineering student has approached Guinness World record in this regard. Rahul Gandhi, under whose leadership the party was reduced to 52 out of 542 seats in the last Lok Sabha elections, had resigned from the top post during the Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting, just two days after the poll results on May 25, 2019.
