**1. Coronavirus tally reaches 35 in Assam; fresh case in Dhubri district - **After a break of seven days, Assam on Thursday registered a fresh Coronavirus positive case, taking the State’s tally to 35. The new case has been reported from the Bilasipara area in Dhubri district.

Kamakhya Devalaya Committee to give Ambubachi Mela a miss this year due to Coronavirus - **The Kamakhya Devalaya Committee has decided to give the Ambubachi Mela a miss this year by only observing the rituals with very few people. Such an unprecedented decision has to be taken by the Devalaya Committee in view of the outbreak of new coronavirus, and the guidelines issued in that connection.

Coronavirus19 impact: AHSEC cancels HS 1st year exams, students to be promoted to HS 2nd year - **The Assam Higher Secondary Education Council has cancelled the HS 1st year examinations and promoted all the candidates who filled in forms for the examinations to HS 2nd year due to the outbreak of new Coronavirus. The Council is likely to declare the results of the HS final examinations 2020 by June 25.

Fast movement of green leaves: Tea Board of India’s initiatives to minimize lockdown loss - **Faced with the ongoing lockdown, the Tea Board of India has decided to take certain initiatives to ensure fast movement of tea within the system — from gardens to consumers — by reducing the turnaround time at every step.

**5. Asom Sattra Mahasabha condemns Palghar lynching of 2 mendicants - **The Asom Sattra Mahasabha has condemned the mob lynching of two sadhus and their driver in the presence of the police in Gadchinchale village, Palghar district in Maharashtra on April 16, 2020.

**6. Assam Panchayat and Rural Development bring laurels from Union Ministry of Panchayati Raj - **The State Panchayat and Rural Development department has bagged a number of awards from the Union Ministry of Panchayati Raj in lieu of its works in the recent times.

Several Organizations of Assam sent a memorandum to CM to release anti-CAA agitators - **Claiming it as an injustice done by the government by throwing democratic protestors into jail for a long period of time, many organizations of Assam sent a memorandum to the Chief Minister of the State and demanded release of the anti-CAA agitators. Different organizations, including the Tai Ahom Yuva Parishad, Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuva-Chatra Parishad, Anusuchit Jati Yuba Chatra Parishad, All Assam Nath-Yogi Students Union, Goriya Moriya Deshi Janagosthiya Parishad and other organizations appealed to the government to release the political prisoners of Assam, including Akhil Gogoi.

**8. Assam government to bring back students stranded in Rajasthan - **Assam Government will bring back students stranded in Rajasthan. Special bus will be arranged for them. They will arrive from Rajashthan at Kushinagar, UP from where they will come to Guwahati. The students had earlier sought help from the state government as they are facing shortage of food and other necessities amid lockdown.

**9. 221 Foreigners Tribunals Members’ postings again hang in balance due to Coronavirus - **A typical situation has arisen with respect to the 221 Members of Foreigners Tribunals in Assam. Though they are drawing salaries since September 11, 2019, none of them has been able to take up any assignment as the Home & Political Department is yet to provide them the places of posting. As the Members have been appointed initially for a year-long term, they have approximately four more months left for this term to end. The issue is likely to get further delayed with the extended lockdown over COVID-19 in process.
