**Government directs halt to biometric attendence system - **As a part of coronavirus preventive measures the Assam government has issued notification to stop use of biometric system in all offices.
**Clause-6 Panel Report: Let people know its present status: AASU - **The All Assam Student’s Union (AASU) has urged the Central as well as the state government to release data on the present status of the report submitted by the Justice (retd) Biplab Kumar Sharma led High-Level-Committee on the Clause-6 of the Assam Accord. The Committee submitted its final report on February this year recommending measures for implementing the Clause-6 of the Assam Accord. However, the governments both at the Centre and the state are yet to declare the present status of the report.
**Coronovirus Concern: Entry into Janata Bhawan Restricted - **The state government has restricted visitor’s entry into the Janata Bhawan at Dispur to check spreading of the dreaded novel coronavirus. The government notification served in this regard has come into effect on Tuesday and would be in place till March 31, 2020. The notification stated that only 100 visitors in a day will be allowed to enter the Janata Bhawan Complex.
**Ready to fight virus: Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma - **The Assam government has readied all the measures to tackle spreading of the dread coronavirus in the state, Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma claimed. Appealing the common people not to panic, the Health Minister said that the state government has prepared itself to fight against the pandemic which claimed lives of more than 3000 people across the world.
**President nominates former CJI Gogoi to Rajya Sabha - **President of India Ramnath Kovind has nominated former Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi as a member of the Upper House of Parliament. Gogoi served as a CJI from October 2019 to November 2020. He was the first CJI from the North-east. His nomination has created mixed response across the country.
**Rajya Sabha Poll: Candidates seal seats, results on Wednesday - **The results of the elections to the three Rajya Sabha seats will be officially declared on March 18, 2020. The nomination papers of all the candidates have been found valid. Only three candidates are contesting in the polls. Despite that people will have to wait till Wednesday for the formal declaration of the results.
**Closure notice to Museums, Cotton and Tezpur universities - **To prevent the outbreak of the novel coronavirus the respective authorities have served closure notices to the state museum located at Guwahati and the Cotton College University, These institutions will close till March 31.
**Congress releases candidate’s list for BTC (Bodoland Territorial Council) polls - **The Assam Pradesh Congress Committee has published its candidates’ list for the upcoming BTC poll. The party will contest only 13 of the 40 constituencies in the Council polls which slated to be held on April 4.
**ATTSA demands closure of tea gardens amid coronavirus scare - **In view of the worldwide spreading of the dread coronavirus the Assam Tea Tribe Student’s Association (ATTSA) has demanded the government to serve notice directing closure of all the tea gardens in Assam. The student’s outfit has said that all the tea gardens should be closed till March 29 as preventive as well as precautionary measure to check the spreading of the highly infectious viral disease.
