**Congress & AIUDF to have an understanding beyond 2021 Assembly election - **The Congress and the Badaruddin Ajmal-led AIUDF would jointly fight in the 2021 Assam Assembly elections. Former Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Tarun Gogoi on Friday categorically stated this. It is to be noted that senior journalist Ajit Kumar Bhuyan is contesting as a common candidate of the Congress and the AIDUF in the ensuing Rajya Sabha elections to be held on March 26. Gogoi also said that the understanding between the two parties will remain like now in the post-2021 Assembly elections. Bhuyan had filed his nomination papers yesterday in the presence of former Chief Minister Gogoi and AIUDF chief Ajmal.
**Parliamentary Committee on Commerce asked the tea industry to sell more tea online - **A Parliamentary Committee on Commerce has recommended that the country’s tea industry should give importance upon online selling of their produce in order to realise better price in the international market. The Committee said that till today only 40 per cent of the total tea production in the country in a year has been sold in the e-auction portal. It asked the industry to cover more and more tea growers under e-portal auction system so that online selling of tea could be increased.
**Corona Alert Sounded in Assam, State govt asks the school to postpone excursions - **As a precautionary measure for preventing outbreak of the dreaded CoronaVirus in Assam the state government has asked all the government schools in the state to postpone excursions and such other activities which involve students. The state Health Department on Thursday issued an advisory to all the government school in this regard. As per reports, State Health Department Commissioner Aurag Goel, who is also the nodal officer for Coronavirus-outbreak asked the Directors of the Elementary and Secondary Education Departments. Sources informed that the private schools in the state will also be asked to take similar steps to prevent outbreak of the dreaded disease.
**State government trying to disrupt anti-CAA convention to be held on March 18, alleges SFI - **The state unit of the Students Federation of India has alleged that the state government created disruption in organising protest against the contentious Citizenship(Amendment)Act, 2019. Addressing a press conference on Friday the SFI state leadership vented anger that the administration had declined to give permission to its All India Secretary Mayukh Biswas and JNUSU president Aishe Ghosh to participate anti-CAA protest in Assam. The SFI has organised a protest meet against the CAA on March 18 in Guwahati.
**DPR of three new flyovers underway: NHAI - **In order to give a scour to commuters from burgeoning traffic jam the National Highway Authority of India(NHAI) will construct three new flyovers in Guwahat sooni, sources say. The new flyovers would be constructed at Lokhara, Bashistha Chariali and Gorchuk on NH37. Sources also say that the Detailed Project Report(DPR) of these new flyovers would be completed by this month.
Three nominations against as many seats - The fever of the ensuing Rajya Sabha elections to three seats in the state has increased with the filing of nomination papers by three candidates. While former MPs Bhubneswar Kalita and Biswajit Daimary filed their nomination papers as candidates of the BJP-led ruling alliance, senior journalist Ajit Kumar Bhuyan submitted his nomination papers as common candidate of the Congress and the AIUDF. The last day of the filing of the nomination papers for the ensuing Rajya Sabha elections ended on Friday.
