**1. Athgaon Kabarstan Masjid declared containment zone; sealed for 14 days in Guwahati - **The Athgaon Kabarstan Masjid in Guwahati has been declared a containment zone and sealed for 14 days from Friday in the fight against COVID-19. Of late, it has come to light during investigation that around 100 people – including eight Nizamuddin returnees, three of whom have tested corona positive later – met in this masjid on March 12.
**Dibrugarh District Administration orders strict adherence to Coronavirus protocols - **More than two weeks after the nationwide lockdown clamped to prevent spreading of the dangerous coronavirus, the Dibrugarh district administration on Friday ordered a resumption of the tea gardens’ operation in the district from Saturday with strict adherence to the various precautionary measures as laid down in new coronavirus protocol.
**May extend lockdown hints Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal - **Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has hinted at extending the ongoing 21-day lockdown which is going to expire on April 14. Replying to a question from journalists during his visit to Goalpara district on Friday, he said, “It is clear that so far no medicine for this virus has been invented. We’re not left with many alternatives, except maintaining strict social distancing. So, you may guess what the government will do.”
**Compensating Academic Losses; Online classes for students if lockdown extended - **Faced with uncertainty over the lifting of the ongoing lockdown many private as well government schools in Guwahati are mulling the option of starting online classes for their students. While a few of the private schools have already started online classes, parents and guardians are putting pressure on other private schools to start the same.
**NTPC distributes food packet to poor families in Kokrajhar - **As part of the various initiatives undertaken for community welfare, the NTPC, Bongaigaon on Thursday distributed food packets to villagers of nearby villages viz. Henabill and Naljibari, Bhumiki in Kokrajhar district. Sources said around 150 families were benefitted from the aforesaid programme.

**Guwahati Border Security Force seizes 3,400 Yaba tablets in South Salmara - **Troops of Guwahati Frontier of Border Security Force seized 3,400 Yaba tablets, from Deepchar village in South Salmara on Friday. BSF troops of Border Out Post Deepchar, Ex-06 BN BSF seized the tablets, while the consignment was being thrown over the fence from India to Bangladesh at the border.
**FISHFED starts door-to-door delivery of local fish in Guwahati City - **The Kamrup (M) district administration, as a part of its COVID-19 precautionary measures, allowed to door-to-door sale of local fish in Guwahati from April 10. The fish are being sold at the FISHFED outlet in Rupnagar and the rate of the category of fishes is as per the existing rate of the body. FISHFED is issuing passes to maximum five vehicles for carrying fishes.
**Violation of lockdown continues; total 1,359 people have been arrested by Assam Police - **Since the lockdown from March 24, a total of 1,359 people have been arrested and 8,533 vehicles have been seized till Friday. While out of the total seized vehicles 7,816 are two-wheelers, 632 are two-wheelers. A total fine of Rs. 29,42,300 have been realized in the State so far.
