Melissa starts off by telling the hilarious story of Stagecoach Mary Fields, the first black woman to work as a star route mail carrier for the US postal service in the 1800s. Rikki introduces Ruby Bridges, the woman that inspired her to become a teacher! Ruby Bridges made history at 6-years old becoming the first black student to attend an all-white school, which helped end segregation at public schools in the south.
