Previously, Alex was a Senior Investment Associate at Bridgewater Associates, working in the Research Department where he developed new investment systems for the firm based on an understanding of the macroeconomy and the global financial systemPrior to joining Bridgewater, Alex was a proprietary trader in the Equity and Macro Proprietary Group at Lehman Brothers. While at Lehman, he identified investments, developed financial models, and researched economic trends in order to invest the firm’s capital in various long/short, equity derivatives, and convertible bond strategies. Alex was promoted to portfolio manager in early 2008, after five months on the job.Alex earned an undergraduate degree in economics from McGill University and an MPhil in economics from the University of Oxford.  He also has an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.While in college, Alex debated competitively, he has served as the Director of Coaching at the Oxford Union, and helped develop debate curriculum for QatarDebate: the Gulf’s first and largest non-profit debate education NGO.
