Hello, hello, beautiful people, and welcome back to another episode of the Claim Your Power podcast. I'm your host, Kim, and if you're new here, here's a warm welcome from me to you. I'm so excited that you decided to join us on episode nine. And in this episode, we're going to embark on a really important and significant topic, which is self-care and how self-care is really the root to taking back and claiming back your power.
Okay, what's up beautiful people? First of all, before I even kick off this episode and this meaningful conversation, I just want to make sure that you're having a good day and
And if this is the first time someone told you this today, I just want to remind you that you are loved and you are beautiful. And whatever time of day you are listening to this episode, whether it's 6 a.m. in the morning or 10 o'clock at night, I'm just truly grateful that you are here, you are present, and you are part of this meaningful journey that we have together on this podcast.
So today, I visited a crystal store. Yes, of course I did because that is my happy place. I absolutely love crystal stores. I love the energy. I just love crystals. I'm a really firm believer in holistic medicine and crystals for that instance. But today, I was visiting the store and I was looking at the book section and I saw that they have a new oracle deck for self-care. And I was like,
What are the odds that right in front of my face when I know I'm going to come home and film an episode about self-care, there right in front of my face would be this beautiful oracle card deck with
All about self-care. So I was like, of course I'm going to get this. And I decided to do a collective reading on the energy of the collective right now. So when I pulled out a card from the deck, I got an affirmation card. So this deck comes with an affirmation, inspiration, and intention cards. So I pulled up an affirmation card. So I'm going to read it to you. So the card says,
There comes a point when we have to say, I'm here to love my life and to figure out who I am, not who I think I should be.
And basically what this card is trying to say is how are you going to set an intention for the day to take care of yourself and to be your most authentic self? And I really believe the first step that it takes into really stepping into that frequency of loving your life, of being grateful and being your authentic self stems down into self-care.
Now, you may be asking yourself, Kimmy, what do you mean by self-care? Do you mean doing my nails? Do you mean getting a massage? Doing yoga? You know, these are amazing things that we can do. Like, all these examples are examples of self-care. But, there's a but here. When I say self-care, I actually mean your relationship and the care and the love you give to yourself.
And by that I mean internally and externally. But it really starts internally. And the best thing we can do to start off this session is by asking yourself, do I take care of myself?
Do I honor my needs? Do I honor my dreams, my desires? Do I honor my energy? What parts of myself have I sacrificed recently? What parts of myself have I not been so caring about? Have I been abandoning my willpower, my dreams? Have I not been so caring when it comes to taking care of my body? These are all really good questions that help you start your self-care journey. And I really want to highlight that self-care journey
is a practice and there's no end to it, there's no destination to it. It's simply the relationship that you have developed and worked on to create with yourself and how you process every part of yourself, how you explore every part of yourself and how you grow. And if you're someone that is listening to this and is like, "Wow, Kim, you are so off about me. I already take so much care of myself. I have a great relationship with myself."
That is so amazing. I'm so happy to hear that. Not that anyone has physically told me that because I'm kind of talking to myself to a microphone right now. But, you know, you get the gist. But on the other hand, if you're someone that's like, what does she mean by self-care? Have I really been honoring these parts of myself that Kim has been mentioning? And if you're someone that has been, you know, curious about how to start your self-care journey, this is what this episode is for. And this episode is going to really...
embark and embody the idea of self-care and inspire you to take your power back through cultivating self-care. And I really believe that self-care starts with baby steps. And a lot of the time, self-care has to start externally until we reach that internal
you know, embodiment of self-care so that we are in a really deep level and relationship with ourselves. So when I first started my self-care journey, um, fun story, it's actually walking around, um, the downtown area in my hometown and, um,
I stopped by because I saw this woman sitting at a table outside a crystal store and she was giving out tarot card readings. And I was like, you know what? I usually don't do that. But I was like, I really like her energy. I am drawn to the reading. I'm resonating with it. I want to get a reading on my own. So I went up to her and I was like, hey, can you also give me a reading after the person before me finished their reading?
And she gave me a reading. And to sum it up, she was basically telling me in the reading that I do not prioritize myself enough. And
that I really put constantly put others in front of myself to the point where it is unhealthy and to be completely honest she was completely right at the time at the time I was not taking care of myself that well I did not prioritize the relationship I had with myself I was codependent and I was looking for external validation to fuel my you know care and kindness that I give to myself
So I asked her, I was like, do you have any suggestions on how I can embody love for myself and care for myself and how I can move past this challenge that I've been facing recently?
And I remember the woman telling me that she does something called self-care Sunday. And if you don't know what self-care Sunday is, it's basically every Sunday you do some modes of self-care. And that could go through, you know, going on a walk, reading a book, doing yoga, journaling, cooking. Anything that really fuels your heart, fuels your passions, and makes you feel calm and serene. That should be the type of self-care that you're doing.
And the woman was telling me that every Sunday she prioritizes herself solely. So every Sunday night after she works, after she does everything, she comes home and she does Sunday self-care.
takes a bath, puts on a candle, you know, journals, cooks, whatever is, you know, happy for you and resonates with you. And she was telling me how that changed her life and that has strengthened the connection she had with herself externally and that devoted her also time to heal her relationship with herself internally. And I remember after that tarot card reading, I was like, wow, she is so right. I need to embody that, you know, mindset and that way of life as well.
So me being completely inspired by that woman, I started to do self-care Sundays as well.
I'm telling you, this has changed my life. Self-care Sundays are my favorite times of the week. It's a time where you just surrender to yourself and you heal yourself. Everything that you went through the week, you take your time to process that. And for me, what self-care usually looks like is to journal. I like to meditate. I love doing yoga. I love reading. So those are some things that
are really embodying self-care in my life. But the beautiful thing about self-care is that it's unique to you. So maybe for someone else, self-care is going to the gym and forming that mind, body, and soul connection, feeling like your healthiest and highest self. Or maybe for someone else, self-care is...
all about giving back, volunteering, you know, working alongside other souls and devoting your time and, you know, commitment and energy to doing something good for others. Maybe that's a form of self-care for you. Maybe baking is a form of self-care, watching the sunset, taking a nap. There are so many actionable things that you can do that really devote your time and commitment and energy towards taking care of yourself.
But I found that the most important and significant thing about doing acts and ventures of self-care is that you are consciously doing these things with intent. So you are setting an intention. Okay, I'm reading this book not because I'm bored, not because I want to learn, simply because I want to take this time for myself, these 30 minutes, to relax, recharge, and feel like my highest self again. When you prioritize self-care in your life,
you are directly claiming back your power. And let me explain why. When you are doing acts of self-care, you are fueling yourself with constant power, purpose, and energy. If there's one thing that I've learned is that true self-care is all about tuning in to your own energy, into your own feelings, into your own emotions, and asking yourself the at times difficult questions of why you're feeling a certain way or how can you make yourself feel better.
And self-care also goes back to your inner child because when you are doing the things that you love, that make you happy, that make you, that bring harmony into your life, that make you peaceful, you are connecting back to your inner child because you're taking care of that inner child.
You are actively reminding that inner child, it's okay. I got you. I can take care of you. I can do things that make you feel at peace. And that is something so important when it comes to healing your relationship with yourself is that external acts that you do inflict the internal relationship you have for yourself.
Doing external acts of self-care really helps you achieve a more fulfilled inner state. And it really allows you to bring balance and harmony and support into your life because it's saying, okay,
I can have this crazy week with so many crazy things, but on Sunday nights for one hour, I'm taking care of myself. I'm prioritizing myself. And that is how you claim back your power. When you put yourself first and you prioritize yourself. Okay, speaking of prioritizing yourself, another really important aspect of self-care that I've been working on recently is the way I give away my power and my energy to other people and other experiences.
Because self-care is such a conscious and intentful act, it's really important to apply our acts of self-care into our daily life. So if you have, you know, a friend that is asking you to get coffee and a part of you is like, yes, I really want to go, like,
I'm bored. I am not doing anything. I'm not spending any time with anyone. So I'm going to go. But another part of you is like, do I really feel like my highest self around this person? Does this person uplift my energy? Am I going to come back from that coffee date feeling like my highest self? Or am I going to come back feeling drained? And these questions and this thought process is part of internalizing self-care into your life.
Because part of self-care is taking and prioritizing your energy and guarding that energy like it's your baby. Throughout your day, you are going to be experiencing every day so many energy exchanges, whether it be with a family member, with a friend, with an experience, with a co-worker. You're constantly going to be exchanging energy. And it's really important to ask yourself, in my day-to-day life, who am I exchanging energy with?
And is this energy exchange positive? Am I feeling uplifted? Am I feeling cared for? Am I feeling like I am my truest authentic self? Or are the people or experiences or commitments that I have in my life are draining me? And this is something so important that I've had to learn recently about internalizing self-care and asking yourself,
Okay, I can do all these things. I can have all these commitments. But do I really feel like my highest self? And if my answer to those questions are no, how can I cultivate more care and kindness towards myself so that I come back from different commitments, experiences, and exchanges with people feeling better than ever?
If you haven't noticed, we actually, including myself because I'm super guilty of this, tend to run from our fears. And this running, this action that we do, that we, you know, run a marathon is actually called resistance. And we constantly resist to things and this includes self-care. We constantly avoid certain blockages in our life, certain fears and our shadows. And that's why certain experiences reflect back directly to us.
And if you're someone like me, maybe there came a time in your life where you resisted acts of self-care, where you resisted honoring and prioritizing yourself and your need. Because guess what? Being intentional and being conscious is challenging. In fact, being conscious and intentional is painful. We are...
unleashing the limiting beliefs we have about ourselves we are unleashing our wounds where we need healing we are letting go of the things and experiences and people that no longer serves us that is hard but this all goes back to you know our collective energetic card that i pulled out that there comes a point in life where we have to say i'm here to love my life and i'm gonna become and figure out who i am and not who i should be depending on other people
And that is how you claim your power, folks. That is how you claim your power, folks. That... Okay, I'm not going to say it a third time. But, you know, setting your intention to actively, intentionally, and consciously do acts that take care of yourself, that prioritize self-care. That is how your life is going to change for the better. When you start asking yourself questions...
about how well do you care take care of yourself right now when you start asking yourself questions about how can you grow how can you heal how can you insert even one hour two hours max a week just for yourself
solely to be in the present moment of prioritizing and caring for yourself. When you start to fully commit to taking care of yourself and to growing, that will actively inspire so many people around you to do the exact same. I mentioned in a previous episode the importance of having self-love and cultivating a really powerful and uplifting relationship with yourself first.
and this goes back to the same idea and concept that if you are able to love something if you're able to love someone you gotta love yourself first and that stems in self-care that stems in asking yourself these questions prioritizing your needs your wants and your desires and self-care I want to reiterate it does not have to be you doing a face mask on a Sunday afternoon and
It just is things that make your heart happy, things that make you grateful, doing things and actions that make you feel in harmony and peace in your life. And if you are someone that is like, wow, I am not doing anything in my life that brings me harmony and peace, I urge you to go after this episode and look within yourself, look outside, look for inspiration, and find yourself
Something, one thing that makes you feel proud of yourself, that allows you and permits you to take care of your inner child, and that...
promotes you to be kind to who you are and to your authentic self. I'm going to end this episode with a really beautiful quote by Eleanor Brown that says, self-care is so important. When you take time to replenish your spirit, it allows you to serve others from the overflow. You cannot serve from an empty vessel. So if you are someone right now that is serving from an empty vessel,
Please fill your vessel with happiness, with joy, with love and take care of yourself because you are enough and you deserve it and you are actively going to be taking back your power and showing up as your highest self and your highest potential when you do so. Beautiful people, this is your reminder that you are enough, that you are loved and that
and you are valued and I'm so happy that you were able to join me on this episode and I can't wait to have another meaningful conversation next time.
