Hello and welcome to the Claim Your Power podcast, the ultimate show for all things self-love, spirituality, and personal growth. I'm your host, Kim Peretz. I'm a three-time author, content creator, avid traveler, entrepreneur, and matcha enthusiast. You are at the right place if you're ready to rediscover the love within, align with your purpose, and unleash your highest potential. It's time to claim your power.

Hello my beautiful friends and welcome back to another episode of the pod. How are we feeling today? Guys, I'm going to be completely honest. It is the new moon in Libra today as I'm filming this. It's eclipse season. This energy has been rocking my boat, okay? Like I am so emotional. I'm also a day before my period. I don't know if you guys have been feeling it too, but eclipse season is...

actually like the way that I see it it's less for a time for manifestation and calling in and it's more of a time for introspection protecting your energy being an observer instead of an absorber of what's going on around you or around the world we can really see the energy of the eclipse playing out with so many things so many conflicts so many shifts happening worldwide and

And by the way, for my Patreon community members for Claim Your Power Exclusive, I did just recently post an energy update for October and for the new moon in Libra. So definitely check it out. I wrote a lot about the rituals that I've been doing, the things that have been helping me with today's energy and just this month in general. I did an oracle card poll. So definitely check it out because I think it's really going to set a good foundation for this month ahead.

And just it's good wisdom to have and to know all about the collective energy and also just the things that I've been experiencing and picking up because guys, I found out like just through my own life that.

when I go through certain things and then I'll make a video about it or I'll make a podcast about it or I'll make an Instagram story about it, you guys will message me and be like, oh my God, I'm going through the exact same thing. Like we're on the same wavelength. And that's because I really believe that life is cyclical and we all kind of go through different life paths and different themes just in different fonts. So when I go through certain things in life or I have certain experiences in my life or just...

certain feelings are coming up in my own reality and I share it with you guys, you guys resonate a lot with it because we all are kind of going through the same life themes. We're all just trying to walk each other home. And so that's why I really love doing those monthly energy updates on Claim Your Power Exclusive on my Patreon community because it's really cool to just share, you know, what's on my heart, what I've been feeling and seeing how it resonates with you guys and

And so if you guys are interested in joining me monthly for seeing all the energy updates, extra bonus pod episodes, my book recommendations, monthly manifestation playlists, and all of those good resources, I will link the

Patreon sign up link in the episode notes so you guys can go ahead, pause this episode, join my Patreon community. It's the best way to keep up with me, to support me and the podcast. And it's just an amazing community and it has so many amazing resources.

And I'm just like with time, I'm just going to keep expanding it and adding more to it. And it's like my baby. I love to pour into it. I love to, you know, talk with you guys on there and just share more wisdom and positive energy. So I don't know about you guys, but I'm

But I am a very sensitive person. And when I was a little girl, I would always be told that I was too sensitive. And so I thought that I was a bad thing and I would really shame myself for feeling and being sensitive. And I just thought that that was like a bad trait of mine. And as I grew older and I became an adult, I realized that my sensitivity is my strength and it's my power because it means I'm intuitive and in touch with my heart.

and my emotions. And I found that a lot of you guys are that way too. And a lot of people that are on a spiritual path, they're more intuitive, they're more tuned into energy, they're more sensitive, you know, to news or conflicts or other people and social media and all those things. And especially like with the weight of the world right now and a lot of things are happening and shifting and all the energy, I think it's really, really important to go back to the basics and remind ourselves

how to take care of our energy, how to protect our energy, raise our vibration as an empath. And if you don't know what an empath is, it's basically someone that can feel very deeply, especially for others. And so in today's episode, we're going to be talking about

An empath survival guide. What are my tips, my tricks, the things you need to know if you are an empath. And I'm also going to share with you guys different signs that you might be an empath if you're not sure if you are one. But I can almost guarantee that if you listen to Claim Your Power and you're on a spiritual path and on a self-development journey,

You are an empath, you're more intuitive, you're more inclined to energy, you feel deeply, especially if you are a woman as 95% of my audience is. Even though I do have some men, guys, I have to say out to the masculine energy that is keeping this podcast, I love you guys too, I love the men too, but the majority of my listeners are my girlies.

And us girls, we got that feminine energy. We got that feeling, that intuition, that womb energy, and that's who we are at our core. And it's so important to learn how to use that energy and how to use our sensitivity to our advantage. So without further ado, let's dive into today's episode. This is your survival guide to being an empath. And by the way, if you have a friend that's also a fellow empath, that's part of the spiritual empath community,

Feel free to share this podcast episode with them if you feel like it may help them. And as always, feel free to leave a review. It really helps your girl out. And I also love to see your Instagram stories. Like if you're listening to the podcast episode on your hot girl walk or on a macho run or

or while you're doing your skincare routine, whatever it is, I love when you guys post about it and tag me in it and makes my day and I love to see it. So without further ado, let's get into it. So I want to start this episode by sharing with you guys some signs that I believe would help you

you realize whether or not you are an empath. And I do want to say really quick that I truly believe that at our core, most people in this world are empaths. Because to me, the definition of an empath is just someone who's in touch with their intuition and in touch with their feelings. And feelings, that's who we truly are. Our emotions are energy and motions. Our body is made up of so much water and water signs are often associated with feelings. So we're very intuitive, we're

feelings

And I really want to reiterate that being an empath is a strength, okay? If you've been told as a kid that you're too sensitive, you feel too much, you're too dramatic, da-da-da, like, I want you to just listen to this podcast episode with an open mind and do not let other people's inadequate words about your feelings and your intuitiveness actually dictate who you are. Because the truth is, your ability to feel deeply is a strength.

It's a power and do not let anybody else take that away from you. So some signs that you are an empath is, okay, these are like the three biggest signs in my opinion that I've noticed about my own life. I'm sure there are some more ways to see like the ways empaths react, but these are just like the top three that I think most people can resonate with.

So the first one is you tend to absorb other people's emotions. So when someone's really happy around you, you feel really happy around them. But when someone's really angry or sad, it's like you take up that sadness, you take up that anger and it becomes your own. You suck that energy.

So if you're someone who is very empathetic and compassionate and you suck other people's energy, you carry other people's energy and you absorb it, that could be a sign that you're an empath. And need I remind you that there's no such thing as good or bad, right? There's duality to everything. Everything is all about balance. And so when you absorb too much, when you're too sensitive, when you're too

you know, of a people pleaser to other people and other people's feelings, that can negatively impact you. But if you're too disconnected, you're too unattached, that's also not serving you. And so being an empath is a power. It's just about evening the scales, knowing how to observe and not absorb. And we'll get into how you can really do that. But that's really the first sign if you're not sure if you're an empath is you're someone who tends to absorb other people's emotions.

And that used to be a big thing for me, especially when I was younger, for instance, because, you know, when you're a teenager, like when you're in middle school and you're in freshman year or sophomore year of high school, it feels like a lot of people are just going through a lot of, you know, growth and changes. And a lot of people are battling health, like mental health issues and depression and anxiety. And specifically where I grew up.

A lot of people were struggling with depression and anxiety. And I grew up in like a very stressful academic environment. My high school was very stressful. So everyone around me was always stressed, depressed, just anxious. All of these negative, low frequency emotions. That was the majority of people around me. Not everyone, but a lot of people, including myself when I was younger back then.

So what happened to me all those years, especially like the first few years of my high school, is I would really absorb all that. Like I would take that and it would negatively affect me and my health and my emotional well-being because I didn't know how to protect my energy. I didn't know how to observe and not absorb. So that's just like an example of how that played out in my life.

But I'm sure there's like a lot of ways it plays out in your life. Like maybe it's with a coworker or maybe it's with a family member or a friend that you've known for a long time. Like whatever it may be, just start asking yourself questions.

Do I feel the way that I feel because that's truly how I feel? Or did I pick that up from somebody else? Number two is you are someone who's often sensitive to conflict or bad news. So maybe you find that you have a lot of drama in your life, but that's like the last thing that you want. You don't want drama. You don't want conflict.

Or maybe when you watch, you know, negative news on social media or heartbreaking videos or read about difficult stories or even just the state of the world right now with everything happening around us, you really feel like that's impacting your soul. It's impacting your spirit, your emotional well-being. That could be a sign that you are an empath. For

For instance, I'm going to be completely honest and

and vulnerable and say that like for me watching the news a lot and watching social media and constantly being caught up in all of that and everything that's happening around the world, that lowers my energy and my emotional well-being so much because I could watch something online about like a chicken breaking its foot or something. Do chickens even have feet? Yeah, they have little feet. Like a chicken breaking a leg or breaking a...

foot or i can watch about some random person on the other side of the planet and something terrible happening to them and like i will sit up all night thinking about it i will have nightmares about it and it will haunt me and i just have learned that sometimes in life ignorance is bliss and i'm not saying like you go around life being ignorant to everyone around you but it's like having boundaries and knowing okay when i consume a lot of this type of content

When I am constantly in conflict or drama, that negatively impacts me. And I know some people who are not. Even my dad, my dad can watch the news a lot and be completely detached. I'm not like that at all. And you know, I've learned to just live with that and I've learned to have boundaries around that. Number three, last one, is you are someone who's really intuitive and

and feels energy very easily. So like for instance, if your friend is in a bad mood, you can just instantly pick that up. They don't even have to say anything. You just look at them and you're like, are you good? Or you walk into a room and suddenly you feel an energy shift or

Just you're someone who's very intuitive, like you pick up around energy around you and maybe you don't even have a logical explanation for it, but you feel it in your bones. So those are the common three signs that I would say would signify that you're an empath. So even if you just like resonated with one of them, I would consider you an empath. Welcome to the club. So now I want to talk to you guys about ways and tips to

that I would suggest that you start implementing into your own life so that you can take your empathic power and use it for the good in your life and not let it drain you out. And so my first tip for you would be be aware of your social media intake. And this is something that I've actually been learning really recently in my life and I'm honestly still learning like I'm not perfect at this. But

But be aware of what you're consuming on social media. Who are you following? What content are you engaging with? How much time you're spending on the app? Because social media is an illusion. And if we spend all of our time and energy on that, we're so disconnected from ourselves and our nature and our true essence.

And so just be aware of what you're intaking every single day and allow yourself the permission to unplug if you need to. Like we have this false sense of need to have everything under control. And we think that if we constantly watch the news or constantly refresh social media and watch every single person's story and answer every single person's message right away, like we'll have a false sense of control. We think we'll control the situation because humans have this need that we need to control everything because that calms us down.

But it's false. It's an illusion. Just because you watch social media all the time doesn't mean you understand everything that's happening around you. And sometimes the best way to get more clarity and more solutions is

to problems in your own life is disconnecting, is taking a step back, it's unplugging. And so just be aware of your social media intake. Maybe put a timer on your screen time. It's just really important. It's just one of my most important spiritual hygiene tips. It's something that, especially with the state of the world right now with so much happening, I think it's even more important to be able to, you know, be aware of our intake of social media and what content we're consuming because sometimes

That impacts us. It forms neurological paths in our brain. It is psychological impacts on our brain and on our mind. So we just have to be aware of what we're consuming, especially as empaths.

The second tip I have for you is make time and dedicate time in your calendar for self-care and disconnection. And so whatever self-care means for you, for me, would be going to a yoga class or having time to meditate or tanning outside in the sunshine and journaling or reading a book. Whatever it means, have that dedicated time in your schedule, especially if you're someone who leads a very busy life

like you have a job or you're a student or you have kids, whatever it may be, it's so important to implement that as part of your schedule, even if it is for just 15, 20 minutes that you decide, okay, in my morning routine, I'm gonna have time for self-care or in my night routine or at some point throughout your day. It's just so important and it's really gonna set the foundation for the way that you feel about yourself. Tip number three is identify your drainers and recharges.

So I'm going to explain what that means. So drainers would be the things that take away and suck your energy. So maybe it's certain people and relationships you have in your life. Maybe it's certain tasks or habits that you have.

certain accounts you follow on social media, certain foods that you eat, like whatever it may be, drainers are basically things or people that consume your energy and do not add anything positive into your life that takes something away, that sucks something out of you.

Recharges are the things that raise your energy and raise your vibration. So it's the positive relationships in your life. It's the movement. It's the organic foods. It's the music you listen to. It's maybe some creators that inspire you that you follow regularly.

Whatever it may be, I advise you to even pause this episode or do this later at another time. Get out a piece of paper or a journal and make a list of your drainers and then of your recharges. And really just write down whatever comes to mind. Don't really overthink it. Just pour it out of your head and realize because some things you don't realize are draining you and some people you don't realize are impacting you negatively. But then you do this exercise and your subconscious mind just kind of like spews it out.

and so i really recommend doing this identify what your drainers are identify what your recharges are and then ask yourself okay how can i implement more times for my recharges in my life and how can i you know minimize my drainers tip number four and this one is so so important like i cannot stress this enough is ground yourself spend time outside in nature breathe the fresh air

Put your bare feet on the ground. Just ground yourself in whatever way it may be. And if you live in somewhere that's cold and you can't really go outside, you can even ground yourself by just sitting in crisscross, applesauce, sukhasana yoga position, closing your eyes, taking a few deep breaths and really coming back into your body. It's just so important to be able to practice mindfulness.

and grounding wherever you are at any moment. It's just a really amazing tool that will help you in every single area of your life. Tip number five, and this is less of like a practical tip and more of just a realization that you need to have with yourself. And that is, it is not your responsibility to fight other people's battles. Let me say it again and louder for the people in the back.

It is not your responsibility to fight other people's battles. I know as an empath, we want to help everyone around us as much as we can because we have so much empathy and so much compassion. And you guys know, I always talk about, you know, my old era of being a people pleaser and overgiving myself and my time and all of that and just like how that didn't serve me in life.

And this always traces back to that, this idea that we think that we can solve other people's problems. You can't. You can't make people change. You can't make people decide to grow or choose a different path for themselves. The only thing you can change is yourself. And when you change something from within, the things around you change. But you cannot expect others to change because you want them to. And when you do that, you're really putting yourself on an unattainable pedestal and it's just going to drain you out and leave you with

just no energy and just leave you feeling so sad and unaccomplished. So why even put yourself through that? Allow people to be who they are and who they want to be. You be who you are and who you want to be. And you realize that other people need to fight their battles. You need to fight your battles. And it's not your responsibility to save anyone in your life.

And I know that that's a hard thing and a hard mentality to come to. And it took me a really long time in my life because I was always like, no, I want to help other people. And like, even in my job, I'm like, okay, I give you guys all this wisdom. I share my experiences. I share my content, all of that. But I've had to realize over time, it is not my job to save other people. My content, I don't put it out there in hopes of it saving someone. I put it out there in hopes of it inspiring you to want to save yourself.

That's the difference. And so you be yourself, you be your authentic self, you be compassionate and empathetic, but not because you want to save somebody else, but because you wanna inspire somebody else to reconnect back to themselves, their intuition, their heart, so that they have enough motivation and inspiration to do the same for themselves too. Tip number six is start trusting and following your gut more.

I cannot begin to tell you how strong your gut is, okay? It's like an internal compass. And every single time in my life that I've ignored my gut, I've utterly regretted it. Like I have so many stories of...

Of me ignoring my gut and just regretting it. And every single time that I listened to my gut, I was also so thankful and so and just grateful and blessed that I did because it led me to easier paths in life. And so I just I'm telling you, listen to your gut as an empath. It's always right. There's also a difference between intuition and anxiety, by the way.

And so if you're scared to listen to your gut, it just could be your anxiety. And so I have a whole podcast episode on this actually on how to tell the difference between intuition and anxiety. So if you guys are interested, I definitely recommend to go ahead and listen to that episode. So I won't really get into that on this one, but it's really important to know how to trust your gut and follow your gut because it's like your internal compass. Last tip is practice protective meditations.

So what does that mean? It's practicing meditations where you're visualizing protecting your energy. And by the way, I have my own meditation for that. It's called the Angel Energy Meditation. It's three minutes. It's super easy. It's super short. It's a morning meditation that I like to do every single morning that protects

really sets the tone for my day and helps me protect my aura and protect my energy. And so if you guys are looking for a meditation that's easy and accessible, I definitely recommend downloading my own angel energy meditation. I'll also include the download link for that in the episode notes to make it just easy for you guys. So many of you guys have downloaded it and told me how much you loved it and how much it's helped you. And so I

I swear by this meditation. It's amazing. It's just a three-minute visualization that takes you through protecting your energy, imagining a white bubble of light, and all of those good things. And it's so easy and so short. It just, I love it. I love it so much. And so I really recommend doing those protective meditations. And there's so many other, you know, practices of mindfulness for protecting your energy, like

wearing certain stones and crystals, saging your house and using incense. When it comes to those things, I really recommend and encourage you guys to learn about the indigenous cultures behind saging and behind incense and all of those good things so that you do that practice from a very respectful,

and wise and knowledgeable standpoint. You're not just doing it for the sake of doing it. Just think it's really important to honor indigenous cultures because we've learned so much from them and they have so much wisdom.

But yes without further ado like that's all of my tips for this episode. I hope you guys liked it I hope this episode served the purpose that I wanted it to which was to give you all the tips To really set a good foundation for you so that even if you are an empath It really sets the tone for feeling good about yourself and using your energy and power As a good means in the world and as a good means for yourself and not something that holds you back
