Arjan was standing in the kitchen of his flat.
On the table in front of him, there were vegetables, spices and a packet of maggi. He had never cooked for anyone. He always ate out of the house or outside. But today something special happened. Today he was cooking maggi for Hrithi.
At first, he felt a little strange, but now he was enjoying all this. He had seen the recipe of making Maggi from the cooking website and now he was testing it in reality. Soon, it was ready to be made into delicious Maggi. Aryan filled a hot case with Maggi and kept a small chocolate, which he had bought on the way. He stood at the door of Riti's flat.
After a little hitchhiking, he knocked on the door. Soon the door opened and Riddhi stood in front of him. She was wearing a light yellow kurta and jeans. She had left her hair open and there was a slight smile on her face. "You're here?" Riddhi asked. "Yes," Aryan said and moved the hot case filled with maggie forward. "So here you go, your special maggie."
Riddhi took the hot case and smiled. "Have you really made it?" "Yes, I have. Have a look." Aryan said in a fake rage. Riddhi took the hot case inside and took it out in two plates. "You sit too." Riddhi said and pulled a chair for Aryan. Aryan sat on the chair and said, "How did you like the Maggi?"
Riddhi took the first spoon and closed her eyes. She tasted it and then smiled at Aryan. "It is very good," Riddhi said. "I thought it might be dangerous to get burnt, but it is very tasty." Aryan breathed in relief. "Okay, this is a relief. Actually, I have made it for someone for the first time."
Riddhi was surprised. "Really? But you have cooked so well. It seems that you cook very well." Aryan smiled. "Not even that. I just worked a little hard for this Maggie date." Riddhi said shyly, "Maggie date? Are you calling it a date?" Aryan raised his shoulders.
So what to say? You tell me. New person, new flat and Maggie. Isn't this romantic? Riddhi started laughing. Both of them ate Maggie while talking. Riddhi also told Aryan that she doesn't like to cook more at home. I have been remembering your homemade food since last night. Riddhi said. So maybe you will get used to it. Aryan said in a joke.
"Now you are also joking!" Riddhi laughed. After eating, Aryan asked Riddhi if she would like to roam the terrace. "Yes, sure," Riddhi said. "I see the view from my flat every night, but I have never been to the terrace." Both reached the terrace. The view of Mumbai's night was really beautiful. Light spread far and wide and the moon was shining in the sky.
Mumbai's nights are very beautiful, right? Aryan said. Hrithya agreed. Yes, absolutely. Even in Kolkata, nights are beautiful. But here it is something different. The two stood quietly for a while and saw the city. Then Aryan asked Hrithya when she had come from Kolkata. Hrithya told that she had come to Mumbai a few days ago.
She has come here for her job. "Don't you have any problem in living alone?" Aryan asked. Riddhi said, "In the beginning, I had a little problem, but now I have got used to it." "By the way, how long have you been living in Mumbai?" Aryan said that he has been living in Mumbai for 3-4 years. He told Riddhi some interesting things about Mumbai.
Both were so lost in the conversation that they didn't realize the time. The night was getting dark and the stars were shining in the sky. Suddenly Aryan remembered that he had to go to the office tomorrow. "Riddhi, it's been a long time." he said. "You must be tired." Riddhi agreed. "Yes, I'm a little tired." "So let me drop you off at your flat." Aryan said.
Both got down from the roof and standing in the lift, Aryan asked, "When are you going to the office tomorrow?" Riddhi replied, "About 11 o'clock." "Can I take you out for coffee?" Aryan asked, twitching a little. Riddhi smiled. "It will be great, but don't be late." "No problem," Aryan said. "I'll be there soon." The lift bell rang.
and opened the door. Riddhi reached near the door of her flat. "So, we'll meet tomorrow?" Aryan asked. "Yes, sure." Riddhi replied, "Thank you for today's Maggie date. You are most welcome." Aryan said, "Good night, Riddhi." "Good night, Aryan."
Riddhi went inside her flat and Aryan went towards his flat. That night Aryan couldn't sleep. He was remembering the moments spent on the roof. Riddhi's talks, her smile, he was remembering all these again and again. He was happy that a rainy night brought him together with Riddhi. And now he was waiting impatiently for the coffee date that was to happen tomorrow. The next morning Aryan woke up a little early.
He quickly got ready and left for office. Even though he was finishing his office work, his mind was lost in the thoughts of Riddhi. A few minutes before 11 o'clock, he left the office and reached the cafe where he had decided to meet Riddhi. He sat on a table and started waiting. In a short time, the cafe door opened and Riddhi came in.
She was wearing white kurta and jeans. She had a bag in her hand and a lovely smile on her face. Seeing Aryan, her smile became even bigger. "You have come?" Riddhi asked. "Yes," Aryan said and stood up. "Come, sit." Riddhi sat on the chair in front of her. "What will you drink?" Aryan asked. Riddhi thought a little. "The same thing you are drinking."
Aryan smiled and ordered the same coffee for him. "You came early," said Hrithi. "I didn't want to keep you waiting," said Aryan jokingly. The two started talking while drinking coffee. Hrithi started telling about her work.
He also told that he hasn't got much time to roam around Mumbai yet. Aryan suggested that he can visit some special places of Mumbai. Riddhi was happy about this.
They kept talking for two hours. They had a special connection. They were having fun talking. And the excitement of knowing each other was also increasing. Suddenly Aryan remembered that he had to go back to the office. "Riddhi, I have to go back to the office." He said a little sad. Riddhi said, "No problem. I should go back now."
"I'll drop you off at your flat while you walk." Aryan said. Hrithi agreed and the two left the cafe and started walking. The sun in Mumbai was a little hot in the afternoon, but it didn't matter to the two. They were so lost in the talks that they couldn't feel the atmosphere around them.
They stopped at a book store. They saw many old books from the window of the shop. "Do you like reading books?" Riti asked Aryan. "Yes, I like it a lot." Aryan replied, "I especially like to read thriller and science fiction books."
Hrithi smiled and said, "I like reading all kinds of books, especially poems and romantic novels." Aryan felt a little shy. "Romantic novel?" Hrithi laughed. "Yes, what happened? Are you feeling shy?" Aryan laughed and said, "Not shy, just a little strange." Hrithi looked at him and said lightly,
You are also romantic. These Maggie dates and coffee dates are all romance. Aryan could say something. Before that, Hrith opened the door of the book shop. Let's go inside. Maybe we will find a good book. Both went inside.
There was a different smell in the book shop. Riddhi went straight to the poetry section and kept looking for books there for a while. Aryan was also roaming around the shop. Suddenly, he saw a book. It was a romantic comedy novel. He picked up the book and went to Riddhi. Riddhi was lost in the books. "Look," Aryan said and showed her the book. "What does a book look like?"
Riti saw the cover of the book and smiled. Romantic comedy? Is this your test too? Aryan raised his shoulders. I want to try something new. Riti smiled again and said, let's take this too. We will read it in the evening.
Aryan was happy. He took the book to the counter and paid. Both went out of the shop and went towards Hrithi's flat. On the way, Aryan told Hrithi that today in the evening Rahul is going out of work and the flat will be empty. So what? He asked in a joke. Can you come for tea? Hrithi thought and then said yes.
"Okay," he said. "But I don't promise to cook anything." Aryan laughed. "No problem, let's order today. But remember, you'll cook next time." Riti also started laughing. Both of them reached Riti's flat while laughing. "Then we'll meet in the evening," Aryan said. Riti smiled and said, "Yes, sure."
She went to her flat and Aryan went back to his office. That night they read a romantic comedy novel together. While talking, they kept laughing about the characters of the book.
The meeting that began with a rainy evening was taking her to a new world. Maggi dates, coffee breaks, book shops, all these small things were making a special connection in her heart.
A few days passed like this. Aryan and Hrithi met every day, talked, knew each other. Sometimes they would go out together. The beautiful places of Mumbai, the wind of Marine Drive, the view of the Gateway of India, all of these were giving them a new feeling. One day Aryan told Hrithi that he wanted to take her to a special place. Hrithi became very excited. Where? Hrithi asked.
Aryan smiled mysteriously. He will know when he goes. In the evening, Riti came to Aryan's flat. Aryan asked her to close her eyes and then took her to the lift. The lift kept going upwards. Riti was trying to guess where she was going. After a while, the lift bell rang and the door opened. Aryan asked Riti to open her eyes.
Riddhi opened her eyes and was shocked. They were standing on the roof, but it was not the roof where they used to meet before. It was a big roof from where the whole of Mumbai could be seen. The city was decorated with colorful lights, buildings spread far and wide, and beautiful sea in the middle. Riddhi was enchanted and kept watching this scene.
"You brought me here?" Hrithi said looking at Aryan. Aryan smiled and said, "Yes, I thought you would like this place." Hrithi held his hand. "It is very beautiful." "Thank you, Aryan." They stood on both the roofs and started talking. There was a slight cold in the air, but the warmth of each other's hands was giving them peace.
Aryan, Hrithi said suddenly, "I feel as if Mumbai is saying something to me." "What is he saying?" Aryan asked. Hrithi pretended to think. "Maybe he is saying that something special is going to happen here." Aryan smiled at him and held his hand tightly. "Maybe you are right, Hrithi," he said in a low voice.
Both stood quietly for a while. There was a special tension between them, which was saying a lot without words. Suddenly Aryan looked at Hrithi and asked, "Hrithi, do you want to say something to me?" Hrithi looked into his eyes and said softly, "Yes, I want to say." But before he could say anything, Aryan interrupted him. But
Hrithi was a little scared, but it will look a little strange. Aryan smiled and said, "No problem, you say, I am listening." Hrithi took a deep breath and then slowly said, "Aryan, I think I have to..." Before he could say anything, Aryan touched his forehead with his palm. "I know," Aryan said in a slow voice.
Hrithi's heartbeats became faster. Aryan's touch turned her cheeks red. She saw Aryan's eyes, which seemed to be bathed in the soft moonlight. "I too want to talk to you." Aryan started. Her voice was a little scared. Before she could finish her sentence, a loud noise came from the corner of the terrace. Both of them looked at the sound. Rahul was Aryan's flatmate.
He was looking at them with surprise. Aryan, what are you doing here? Rahul asked. And who is this? Hrithi quickly took her hand off Aryan's hand. A strange embarrassment was cast on both. This is Hrithi. Aryan said, my neighbor.
Rahul looked at Hrithik from head to toe and smiled at Aryan. "Oh, so these are the neighbours for whom I made the Maggi?" Hrithik's face turned red. Before he could answer, Aryan took the matter into his own hands. "Yes, they are here," he said quickly. "By the way, Rahul, where have you been coming from so late at night?" Rahul told him that his flight had been cancelled. So he came back soon.
Now the atmosphere was quite awkward. Riddhi thought, now it would be better to leave early. I should go. He said. Aryan looked disappointed. Now, it's okay. Rahul said in the middle, we'll meet tomorrow. Okay Riddhi, good night to you too. Riddhi smiled and replied and then said bye to Aryan and went back to her flat.
That night, Riddhi couldn't sleep. He was thinking about the same thing again and again when he was about to express his feelings in front of Aryan. Suddenly, Rahul's coming and his misinterpreted joke ruined everything. She started thinking that maybe this is happening very soon. Does Aryan really like her the way she likes her?
On the other hand, Aryan was also sitting in his room that night. He was very sad. Rahul's sudden arrival had spoiled a special moment for him. He was wondering if now Riddhi would think that he was just having fun. Will she get away from him now? He thought about sending Riddhi a goodnight message. But then he stopped. He didn't know how Riddhi would be feeling.
They spent a night of confusion in their thoughts and waited for the next day. The next day was the day of their office. Riddhi kept thinking about Aryan all day. She was eager to know what Aryan felt that night. After leaving the office, she stood outside Aryan's flat instead of going straight to her flat.
She didn't know if Aryan was at home or not, but she needed to talk to him. After standing there for a while, she heard a voice from inside. Riddhi's heart started beating fast. Who was Aryan talking to? Was Rahul still there? After a little hesitation, she rang the doorbell. The door opened in a short time.
Aryan was shocked. He was looking at the mixture of happiness and comfort. "Ridhi, you here?" He asked with surprise. Riddhi smiled weakly. "Yes, I wanted to talk to you." Aryan opened the door a little wider. "Come in." Riddhi went inside. The living room was empty. Rahul was nowhere to be seen. "Where is Rahul?" He looked around while asking.
"He left in the morning," Aaryan replied. "His flight wasn't cancelled. He told me to make fun of him last night." Hrithi felt a little relieved. He pointed to the sofa and Aaryan sat in front of him. Last night, Hrithi started, but the words stuck in his throat. Aaryan understood what he said.
Last night, I felt very bad. Rahul's coming ruined everything. Hrithi took a deep breath. I thought, maybe this is happening very soon. Did I really need to fulfill her words? Aryan sat on her knees and held her hand. Hrithi said in a loud voice, I don't know when all this started, but it's not just fun.
I like you very much. I was going to say what you were going to say last night. Hrithi saw Aryan's eyes. Truth was shining in her eyes. She slowly held his hand. I also like you very much, Aryan.
Aryan smiled. He pointed at Hrithi to stand up. Then he slowly wrapped her in his arms. The two stood quietly for a while, feeling each other's warmth. Suddenly Aryan said, "Hrithi, would you like to be my girlfriend?" Hrithi said with a gleam in her eyes, "I will be more happy in this, Aryan."
Aryan slowly kissed his forehead and they hugged each other as they walked towards a new beginning. It was going to be night outside, but the sun of love was shining in their hearts. The incomplete thing on the roof was now complete. Their story had now become a beautiful poem of love. It is hoped that this story has touched your heart.
