What's going on everybody? I'm Marah. And I'm Tez. And welcome back to Sisters Who Kill. Hey, I know that summer has been fantastic and it's coming to an end soon, but take it from us over here at Sisters Who Kill. We want you to be safe and we want you to be alive. So to do all that, don't drink and drive.
Our players this week are Gregorio Meja Martinez, our victim. Leticia Ibirra, Gregorio's wife and our victim. Jessica Mejia, Gregorio and Leticia's daughter and our victim. Esther Delgado, Gregorio's mother and our victim. Kristen Young, our victim and Olivia's friend. Maya Colbreth, our victim and Olivia's sister.
And Olivia Colbreth, our murderess. Olivia Caralee Colbreth was born on November 3rd, 1992 to her parents, Thaddeus. He looked like Thaddeus. He looked too cool. To her dad, Thaddeus, and her mom, Lee. Now she was mixed. Her dad is black. Her mom, I believe, is Asian. And they were from Rancho Cucamonga, Florida.
Now, I do know that she had a few siblings and I couldn't confirm exactly how many siblings that she had. If they all came from both her mom or dad, if her dad had a few extra, if her mom had a few extra. But I do know that she had one sister named Maya and she had one brother named Katai. And I do know that out of all the siblings that she does have, she is the youngest and a self-proclaimed daddy's girl.
Her sister, Maya Louise Colbreth, was born on October 7th, 1989. And Maya had a brother, a sister, obviously, and she was mixed as well. To her friends, she liked to be known as Scary Spice because Scary Spice was the girl that was mixed in Spice Girls. So I guess she identified with her. But anyways, Maya and Olivia sisters having a great time.
Olivia went to Ranchero Cucamonga High School until her junior year. And that is when she transferred schools to go to Fontana Unified School District. Now, it gets really messy because when she was 16 years old, she had to have still been at the first school at that time.
She got her first DUI and she got that on August 13th, 2009 in San Bernardino County. Now she got this DUI because she had a car accident. Her car wrapped around a light pole and luckily there were no serious injuries. But while she was awaiting her court date, she didn't have insurance at the time and she got herself another ticket. So luckily,
By age 17, the judge was like, not only do you have a DUI, but you also got an additional ticket after you got your DUI. Girl, you have to be careful out here. Things can happen. You are really young. First of all, why are you? I feel like no one's asking, why are you so young and so drunk?
Right. But also you need to be very careful. The judge goes on to warn her that this has happened again and she hurt somebody the next time and she can very well be charged with murder and it'll be nobody's fault but her own. There's no wiggling out of it. On August 4th of 2010, she ends up getting another traffic citation for negligent operation of a vehicle and her license was suspended again due to the matter. In the year of 2011, her dad died. Daddy is cold breathed.
And as Mariah said, she was a self-proclaimed daddy's girl. So this was definitely a blow to her. She took it pretty hard. She made a bunch of Facebook status posts when he died. He was the best father in the world to me and my brothers and sisters, as well as a loving husband to my mother. We're going to miss him so much. Words can't even explain. Please pray for him and our family. She's sick about it. When you look at her Facebook, it definitely gives...
I wouldn't even say just daddy's girl. I think she loves her parents. Like it's a lot of posts like chilling with mommy or about to go chill with my parents. And it's like, yeah, her Facebook definitely showed normal, happy, loving family. And she said that like, I'm spoiled by both my parents. She, she sat this status. She was like, now they want me to be an adult and pay bills. Like, ew, the fuck? She was like, no, my parents do everything, which like, okay, girl, good for you. Happy for you.
By the end of the year, her license gets reinstated, December 2011. So she goes on to work with those who are developmentally disabled. She was studying to be a nurse, and she got a job at Civita. And they serve adults and children suffering from intellectual and developmental delays and disabilities. This included TBI victims, foster care kids, kids with autism, complex care needs, all of that. So...
When you do this type of work, it definitely takes a certain type of person with a certain type of patience and a certain type of care. She loved this job. She would even post on Facebook. She was like, I got this nonverbal patient. And every time I go in, she just perks up and smiles when she sees me. And that means everything to her. And she just she truly loves what she's doing. She truly loves being able to help out.
Like, it's definitely fulfilling her in the ways that she wanted it to. She's going okay for a while. And then August of 2013 comes around and she gets another citation. It's time for not having insurance. But it's later dismissed on how she would go the way out of it. Probably because nobody would take her. Or you couldn't afford it. Who insurance you going to be on? Because of rates.
Who is sure she's going to be on? And this is in California. Who is sure she's going to be on with that? Some shit you never heard of. You better call Adriana. And so it just seems like she doesn't necessarily have good luck behind the wheel. And I have been there. Not with no DUIs, but ticket after ticket after ticket.
I can relate. Yeah, she was doing really bad. In the six years that she had her license, she got into 13 car accidents. Her sister Maya was not much better. Maya's DMV record showed that her driver's license was suspended multiple times in connection with excessive blood alcohol levels. So she also had a DUI on her hands.
In fact, in the year of 2013, on May 6th, Maya's license was suspended. He can't hold a play down for long. Olivia, even though she did not have a license, she had her eye on a car and she just had to have it and she got it. Got her this nice little cherry red Camaro. I'm going to be quiet.
What you was finna say? You don't know how she bought it without a license? One, that was my first thought was once you leave the dealership, like before you leave, don't you have to show a license and insurance and all of that? Two, your tickets that you suffer from are not even speeding tickets. You want to enter a new problem into this mix?
A sports car. Now you want to introduce speed? You don't even have speeding tickets that we're talking about. And now you want to throw speed in there? With your driving history? So things were going pretty well. Olivia has a car. She ain't got no license, but she got a car. And she finds out that she's pregnant. Her man and her are having a baby. And she loves it. She's so excited. And then on top of that...
Her sister, Maya, finds out that she is pregnant too. So it's like, oh my goodness, me and my sister get to go through this pregnancy together. And they believe that it's real beautiful, that it's real beautiful. And so they were about to give birth. Olivia gives birth on January 29th, 2014 to her son. And this is really beautiful. Like she has...
Her son here, she's overwhelmed with joy, with pride. And then the next week, she gets her license back. And then after that, Maya has her baby. Maya drops her baby on February 8th, 2014. So here it is. I got my baby. My sister got her baby. I got my license. You know what we need?
We need to celebrate. You know what we just did? We just pushed out some babies. We should go out. And Maya's like, yeah, girl, we should go out. And Olivia's like, I'm feeling a girl's night. And so Olivia's like, let me call up my homegirl, Kristen. Now, Kristen, her name is Kristen Melissa Young. She was born on September 30th, 1992. She's from Long Beach, California.
She graduated from Chinko High School in 2010 and went on to Berry University in Miami. She is adventurous. She's super fun spirited, beautiful smile, loved her family, loved her friends. So when her homegirl hit her up and said, hey, girl, we celebrate him because you a best friend. Auntie, she was like, bet. Best friend. Auntie is ready to have a girl's night to the very next day, which is crazy. The very next day after Maya has her baby, which is really wild. Maya dropped that baby.
And the next day, February 9th, Maya, Kristen, and Olivia, they are outside. I've never had a baby. But usually the next day you're not outside. Not on the first one. When Bri had deuce. Do you want to be outside the next day? The next day we was drinking margaritas. But were you like...
We went to a restaurant to get a picture of Margarita's. Y'all wasn't at the bar. Y'all was at the Mexican restaurant. I don't know because Maya did the same thing. They went out.
And they were having themselves a good time. They went to a bar in Fullerton. They were driving back home through Diamond Bar. And it's unclear how many drinks that everybody had. But Olivia definitely was lit as hell. And so she's trying to, I'm assuming, go home, maybe drop one of the girls off. And she decides that she needs to turn onto the highway. Now, here's the thing.
She turns onto the westbound highway, but she starts driving in the wrong direction. Not only is she driving in the wrong direction, she is speeding. And I know that she was speeding, they say about seven miles in the wrong direction because someone calls 911. And
And they say, hey, there is somebody speeding in the wrong direction on the highway. 911 obviously lets the police officers know to look out for someone going east in the westbound lane on 60 Freeway in Diamond Bar, California. Now, this officer, Officer Scott Marsden, he was actually on his way to work when he got the call. He was in uniform. He was in his uniform.
state issued vehicle and he got the phone call and what he's doing is trying to make a traffic break kind of make a diversion and we've seen police officers do this when they're on the highway and they're kind of swerving in this lane they got their lights on swerving on that line so everybody behind them slows down a bit because what the fuck is the officer doing but really he's purposely slowing down traffic and his hope is that he will find the person going the wrong way
So it's around 4.40 a.m. on February 9th of 2014. Olivia, Mayan, and Kristen are all riding together in the 2013 Chevy Camaro. Now at this time, Olivia and Kristen are 21, Mayan is 24. Young girls having a young fun night. And all is well except for them flying down the West End lane going east. Olivia is driving.
Flying. Hitting about a hundred. She's going down this westbound lane in the wrong direction for a good seven miles. When all of a sudden, she crashes into a Ford Explorer carrying the Mejia family. Gregorio Mejia Martinez was 47 years old and was born in 1966 to his mother, Esther Delgado, who was born in 1928.
He was married to a T-Shirt Bear who was 42 at the time and she was born in 1971. Together, he and his wife had two daughters, Jessica and Mary. Jessica was born in 1993. I'm not quite sure what year Mary was born, but they had their two children. Very happy family. All of them lived together, even the grandma in Huntington Park.
And they're all in the car headed home from a family trip to the casino. He's got his mom, he's got his wife, and he's got one of his daughter, Jessica, who's 20. They're just headed home. It's a late night. They had their fun. And next thing you know, they have been hit head on by this red Camaro car.
flying down the wrong side of the street. Now the Camaro hits this Florida Explorer so fast and so hard that the Florida Explorer kind of flies into the air a bit. And when it does, it kind of comes back down on top of this freestyle behind him, hitting that car, kind of crushing it and pinning that car against something else.
So when Olivia hits the Mejia family on impact, ejects the family from the car and the Explorer comes back and kind of crashes into the freestyle. In this car was Joe Cortex.
Joe Cortex worked as a technician in the city of industry. We do know that he had at least a daughter, maybe more kids. But he was just trying to head home one night and he said everything happened so fast. He tried to swerve out the way, but he was hit by the Explorer. He was, you know, kind of panicking. He's like, you don't know if you're alive or if you're dead. Then you hear somebody screaming, oh my God, there's bodies everywhere. He's in a car just
Not knowing if he's even at his final moments, he starts calling his kids. Then he soon sees flashing lights with emergency responders and they're pulling everybody out to safety. And luckily, Joel was not injured. He did say, quote, there were lots of parts of my interior car inside me and my legs everywhere, which I'm sure was painful for him, like getting that removed and dealing with that. Luckily, he just walked away with some minor scrapes and bruises. But
The same could not be said for the Mejia family. Now, this scene was really horrific. Like we said, the Mejia family was ejected from their cars. And Officer Martison, remember he was trying to make a roadblock? He comes up on the scene of the crash after the crash already happened. And when he came up onto the scene...
he could tell that it was extensive because there was debris all over and he realized there was bodies all over some bodies even decapitated. Now, one of the first things he did notice was that Olivia's Camaro was smoking. So he knew that he needed to get to the Camaro first because where there's smoke, there's fire and we don't need bigger problems than what we have right here. While he's going towards her car, another sheriff's deputy pulls up on the scene and
They are just trying to put out the smoke that is coming from this car. And they both get in a fire extinguisher and come up on the car. Now they see Olivia in the driver's seat. She slumped over the steering wheel and she looks dead, but they can clearly see that Mary, who was in the passenger seat, is dead. And curled up in a fetal position in the backseat of the car is Kristen. And Kristen, they can hear sounds from her.
and they can hear gurgling sounds and they are trying their best to get her out. If you see news coverage of this case, they are trying to pry that back door open and it takes a long time. By the time that they get that back door open, Kristen has already passed away. And of course, it's mayhem hearing people screaming. So the officers are going around to see who survived this crash. Now, according to Officer Marsden, two people died.
Gregorio and Esther, they were dead at the scene and it was very clear. And Leticia and Jessica, they were transported to the hospital. Officer Marteson said they were screaming for help, but he just knew that one of them, they were beyond saving. When the fire department arrives, Officer Marteson, of course, immediately tells them what he's assessed of the situation, who he believes is still alive, who he believes has passed away. But at that point, there are plenty of first responders on the scene to make sure that it is taken care of.
So Maya and Kristen are both dead at the scene. Olivia was also unconscious, but she is alive. They did not check her blood alcohol content at the scene. I'm sure they were more focused on making sure she stays alive. So she was taken back to the hospital, transported to USC Medical Center in L.A. County. The only person that survived the crash besides Olivia was Joel Cortez in the Ford Freestyle.
He had minor injuries and he complained that he was experiencing pain. So they took him to UC Irvine Medical Center. When his daughter got to the hospital, she said, quote, once we'd seen pictures and images of the crash, it kind of hit us like, oh, my God, how did he make it? And it really it really does look like that. Like the Camaro is folded like a burrito. The Explorer, the back two wheels never touched the ground again.
Like it was he was trapped in there. Yeah, he was he was pinned. I'm sure it does look like wow, especially hearing how many losses there were on scene. Like to know like you got to walk away. He said he looked to his right after the airbag deflated and he thought that there was luggage or bag because it was so dark. But it turns out that it was a body.
And he was like, I just felt like I got hit by an engine and I was waiting for help. People were just saying there were bodies everywhere. And he was like, and I'm in shock. And I look around. I see the freeway. I see these two destroyed cars.
And there's bodies on the floor. No heads. People are decapitated. He's like, this is something you see out of a movie. This is not real life right here. A news reporter asked him, are you angry at Olivia? And he said, quote, I don't feel angry. I feel sorry for her. I can't imagine how you can live the rest of your life thinking about how many people you just killed, including your own sister. Which, facts, that's probably the biggest punishment of all.
Officer Marsden was told by his area office to go to the hospital and stay with the driver and wait for the investigating officer to arrive. He was told not to investigate, but he did bring his DUI kit just in case. You never know. He was like, something seemed like I just need this. I might need to get a breathalyzer. I might need to see what a blood alcohol level was looking like.
Good thing he did. The official officer assigned to investigate was CHP officer David Crislip. The CHP officer said it was one of the worst crashes that they had ever seen. And I don't know what was going on, but...
This crash happened the same day as a very serious crash that killed four people in Florida with somebody drunk driving the wrong direction. So now people like across the United States are becoming worried. Like, why are people driving in the wrong direction? Yeah.
This investigating officer, he arrived on the scene around 5.50 a.m. Olivia, Leticia, Jessica, and Officer Mardsen were no longer on the scene. And the reason that he was a little late to the scene is because he was down at the booking station transporting somebody, making sure they were all set up after he arrested the hell out of them. Now, he interviewed an eyewitness and he inspected the car. And Lordy B., guess what was inside of that Camaro?
Now the driver's seat was empty. There was two deceased women still in the car. Their bodies hadn't been taken out yet. He could already tell that it smelled like alcohol and there was a beer in the driver's seat. He's going around, take pictures of everything, making sure that they're fingerprinting everything, staying there while the bodies are. They have to take pictures of the bodies, but they also have to get the bodies out, properly transport them, get them with the coroner. And so the investigating officer doesn't leave the scene until about seven o'clock in the morning.
And that's when he makes his way to the hospital. He speaks to Officer Martson, who has been there that entire time. Officer Martson obtained Olivia's identification. And Olivia is like in pretty bad shape. Her femur is broken. Her bladder is ruptured. She is in multiple surgeries. I think by the time that this happens,
Officer Chrislip made it to the hospital. She was in the middle of getting a CT scan. Now, they couldn't talk to Olivia immediately because she was unconscious. She was sedated. She was on an opiate drip. She needed a lot of surgeries, a lot of internal issues that were happening because she got into a major car accident that she caused. At the hospital, they said that there were a number of nurses and doctors around her just constantly trying to make sure that she was going to stay alive.
Even though she was unconscious at the time, Officer Krielps saw Olivia. And when he saw Olivia, he smelled alcohol and he knew already that she was drunk.
He couldn't take a field sobriety test on her because she was unconscious, but he could ask the nurse if the nurse would draw blood. And so the nurse successfully tried to draw blood from Olivia's arm. They collected the blood from her femoral vein in her leg and it was tested and her blood alcohol level was determined to be 0.1.
Now, at this time, the other members of the Mejia family that were transported to the hospital had died of their injuries and their lone surviving daughter died.
She had to figure out that she lost her entire family in one night. Her mom, her dad, her sister, and her grandma. Now, of course, her being the only one alive and the one that everyone believed to be the driver, they started to do a preliminary background check on her. And that's when they found out that, oh, DUI, she's not new to this. She's true to this. What? What?
She just got her license back last week and she's already speeding, drunk, driving in the wrong direction. Boys, that's our investigation. So later that Sunday night, Olivia's brother, Katai, reporters were in his face asking him how does he feel. He stated that he knew very little about Olivia's condition and he didn't want to talk about the accident. He said, there's there's not much to say. We're all still grieving.
Another family member said that they're all devastated about Maya's passing and Olivia's pending arrest, but also for the other victims as well. They weren't ready to talk about it to the media yet, though. They said, it's too fresh. Give us time to grieve. Neighbors of the Kohlbrefts said that they were shocked by what happened. They said, it's a crazy accident. It's so surreal. Another one said she just had a baby. I was supposed to go see her. And I wonder if it's as crazy as they feel or like, could we see this coming through her history?
Her neighbors might not necessarily know her business. So when you see this girl that leaves home in scrubs every day, seems to have a fulfilling life, even if you follow her on Facebook, she's not saying, oh my goodness, I had a DUI when I was 16. So from the outside looking in, she definitely seemed like a normal, happy girl. Maybe they're not as nosy. Like you could have that nosy neighbor like, oh, you know, she been getting rides to work every day. I wonder what happened. I wonder what happened.
But that's if she was getting rides to work. She very well could have just been riding dirty. It just feels like knowing the facts, it doesn't feel completely out of left field. But shortly after, Olivia disconnected her phone, which, I mean, I feel you.
Now, this same day, but later that evening while she was still in the hospital, they did arrest her. She was in a stable condition and she was arrested on the suspicion of driving under the influence and manslaughter. Her blood alcohol was taken three hours after the crash when she got to the hospital and it was.
tested at a .15, which is two times the legal limit. And this is three hours after the fact. So she was fucking wasted. She was drunk. Shit-faced. Drunk, drunk. Plastered. Whatever you want to call it. Drunk as a skunk. Friends and members of the Mejia family gathered at the Malabar Street neighborhood in Huntington Park the next day. Several people came by and exchanged hugs. Some brought over bottled water.
A, quote, sad-eyed man was standing in the driveway declining to comment, saying, not today, not tomorrow, not ever. Kristen's funeral was held on February 19th of 2014 in Chino Hills. Just a few days later, on the 22nd, she had a second funeral in Belize. Her family called this her second home, and she was buried there. I believe that's where her parents are from, but that's where her body was laid to rest.
California Highway Patrol spokesman Rodrigo Jimenez said that the investigation is ongoing and they're trying to find people who may have witnessed a crash and saw Olivia before the accident, encouraging people with information to step forward. Once she was able, she was moved to the jail ward of the hospital. Her first appearance in court was March 27th, 2014. Now, this case had been going really crazy in the media because of just how gruesome it was. However, no cameras were allowed in the courtroom at this time. This is a little over a month after the crash happened. She was in a really bad condition. I heard in a newspaper article that they wheeled her in in a gurney.
But she still had to face a judge. And from there, she was held with a $6 million bail. Being wheeled into a courthouse in a gurney feels a bit excessive. Her legs were pretty bad, which I feel like didn't just give it the time for her to be in a wheelchair. A gurney is doing so much.
Nope. The justice still does need to be swift for the victim's family, so she's got to face her music. I'm glad that they didn't allow cameras in the courtroom that day. That would have been excessive. The district attorney said that she acted in conscious disregard for human life, and that is why she was faced with
the charge of murder now no one really brought up if officially she was charged with murder because of her past dy convictions but i really feel like if you were warned in court that the next time would be murder and here you are and six people are dead it's giving i told you so period it's giving you thought that i wasn't hot you had to wait to get burned to believe me
Now, her defense attorney said that the reason that they probably gave her the murder charge is probably because this was making headways in the news. Like this was something that was really big across the country. People were talking about it. They were in shock. So, of course, they were going to give her the maximum charge possible.
The defense suggested that she be indicted on a vehicular manslaughter charge and her prior DUIs, that's gross negligence. And of course, that gross negligence would be the excessive speeding, driving the wrong way, the fact that she already knew the risk of driving under the influence, etc.
The fact that she took a DUI class. So since she knows all of that, they're saying that makes it gross negligence. And since somebody died, it's vehicular homicide. But I feel like if, and you still do wrong. The crash was headlines all over the country. People were really up in arms about this. And also this is like 2012 through 2015 social media. People were freaking crazy. And people were using Twitter ads
in ways that they had never used any social media before. People were sending her death threats over social media. They were telling her how horrible of a person that she was. They were saying that she was irresponsible. The Twitter comments about her are insane. They're really, really just insane. So on January 28th of 2015, she gets in front of a judge with her lawyer, Kelly Shaheen Garner, and she has her preliminary hearing.
Of course, they brought up her prior record. They brought up how she was warned about the possible charges of murder if this were to happen in a future accident. And so the court, of course, agreed that there is enough to move forward with the charges. And Olivia decided to plead not guilty.
In May of 2018, so this trial has gotten delayed. It wasn't until May of 2018 that Olivia put in a plea for no contest to six counts of second-degree murder. No contest is basically a no-lo. Everybody has the option to do no-lo, like, once every so many years, like five or seven. You can't just keep doing no-lo, but basically what no-lo means is, like,
I ain't saying I didn't do it. I'm not saying I did it either. You'll take the punishment, but you're not going to say I did the crime. So you'll do some time. But your record doesn't necessarily reflect that, if I'm recalling this correctly. Olivia said that she did this because she wanted to spare the victim's family more pain and not take this to trial.
Olivia's attorney said that she was extremely remorseful and keeps asking, why am I here? I wish it had been me since the crash. Why would she be the one to survive? The one at fault, the one to survive? She had her sentencing and at the sentencing, she got to speak. Family members got to speak.
Mary Mejia, the daughter of Leticia and Gregorio, her other family, she said, I lost my entire family. I didn't want to forget anything about them. No one will ever feel the pain that I feel. Olivia cried when she spoke, saying, quote, I ask God every single day to give comfort to those who are hurt by this. I want people to know I would die a million times over again for any one of you. They deserve so much more life and I wish I could give it to them.
I'm going to punish myself for the rest of my life. I was so wrong and I take full responsibility. And she was very choked up saying this, like, it's clearly remorseful. It's clearly genuine. The judge ended up sentencing Olivia to 30 years to life imprisonment.
She'll be eligible for parole after 25 years. And they also impose fines. So she'll have to pay restitution of $20,000 to the California Victim Compensation Board to cover funeral costs for all the victims. I'm sure that doesn't cover it, but okay. That's your bird in the cage, girl. Her son only sees his mom through a jail window now. After her sentencing, one of her lawyers said that the sentence was, quote, extremely harsh, quote,
They said the offense itself was possibly the worst crash in the history of Southern California. They said, this is a good lady. She spent her life working for other people. She was studying nursing. She even saved somebody's life in jail. But like that was mentioned at the very end of an article. And I was like, how her legs broke. You only need your hands for CPR.
We don't know what happened. It's a story I'd like to hear, though. Her lawyer goes on to describe her as a responsible woman who made terrible choices, and she was not a wonton party girl. He said the crash was the aftermath of a very difficult childbirth, and she was extremely remorseful. The responsible woman who made terrible choices, they weren't just terrible choices, they were irresponsible choices. They literally say, drink what? Responsibly.
That's not what she did that night. Now, she did file for an appeal in February of 2015, and the defense argued that the warrantless blood draw, while she was unconscious, was unconstitutional, and therefore that evidence of whatever her blood alcohol level was because of an illegal blood draw should be suppressed.
Now, a three justice panel rejected this and they said that we find that the circumstances clearly justified the warrantless blood draw. To call this an emergency would be an understatement. It was catastrophic. The totality of the circumstances shows the warrantless blood draw was reasonable based on the ignite circumstances present.

rocketmoney.com slash sisters. All right, y'all. It's time for... Well, I'm not black. I'm OG. I didn't do it, but if I did, this is how I would have got away with it. I ain't do it, but if I did, if you know that you're having a girls night and you know that y'all gonna be out drinking, you should 1,000% call a lifter an Uber. Y'all can split it. It's three of y'all. Right. Especially if y'all trying to get that fucked up.
Like, back in my college days, we used to have a DDD who was the designated drunk driver, but that drunk driver wasn't supposed to get past Tipsy. Like, he was supposed to be able to reel it in at any moment. Wow. I never had that. We just had...
designated drivers you were a little reckless do not listen to Taz's advice everybody no I definitely it's definitely college days it was definitely right and you're like oh my ddd is supposed to get tipsy and they just keep saying they're tipsy but they're not really tipsy because then they know that they're going to ruin the night because they had one too many shots and you really don't know that you've gotten past tipsy until you get past tipsy so I don't
I think that's good advice. - One, it wasn't advice. I'm saying in my college years, even when I was reckless, like as in something I don't do anymore,
We at least did that. But I would also say I would also weren't I wasn't necessarily like a big it wasn't hard for me to stop at Tipsy like the same way like and when I say Tipsy like the same way if we go out and get a drink and then we head home because we're fine. We like, oh, there's a nice little buzz, but nobody's drunk. You know what I mean?
that was even college days like girl bring the bottles to the house i prefer a house party any days just bring it to the house then nobody gotta go home oh no take your ass home i will pay for your uber you ain't coming back to my house i will not pay for your uber i will pay for your uber before i let you come back to my house i will i don't care
I mean, it's just her sister and her friend. Because I also care about your life, but you can't stay over here. It's just her sister and her friend. They can stay over at my house. Yeah, you should have called an Uber. Also, you shouldn't speed. She's gotten into multiple car accidents before this. Aren't you tired of giving the government your money so that you can get your license back? Don't you think you should slow down? And granted,
That area in LA where she was at, been there, just left there, hate the traffic there. You have to be able to drive. You can't just be speeding. Things come out of nowhere. Those highways and byways go a little bit of everywhere. I didn't do it, but if I did, I would have been at home with my 11 day old baby. What? Your sister's baby was just born. Y'all should have had baby on baby day.
It should have been baby meeting baby day. And your outside, your baby don't even have shots yet. And you outside getting booked up, bringing all these outside germs to your baby that hasn't gotten their shots yet. I'm just saying.
I'm judging a little bit. And you know what? If she had a DUI and all of this happened, I could see them going for vehicular manslaughter. And you see vehicular manslaughter in these cases all the time. But for this specific case, I just can't see it because you had a DUI before. And because you were warned, a judge literally said to you, you're going to kill somebody and it's going to be murder.
And then you did nothing to change your ways. I really wonder what her life was like growing up because I heard that she was a bully. I saw on some Reddit posts that she was a bully. She used to jump girls in middle school. Of course, I didn't see any charges. I heard that one time she blocked a girl in while she was at work with her car. And like the place didn't have security cameras, but nobody was able to charge her. So she was a little bully. I know you love your parents, but...
But what else was going on? Why were you drinking? Who gave you alcohol at 16? So much alcohol that you were drinking and driving. Because at 16, I feel like we were pretty scared of drinking and driving. I wasn't drinking at 16. If I had a drink, I wouldn't.
I wasn't in a position to drink and drive. If I had a drink, my mama gave it to me. I was not drinking at 16. Oh, no, my mom didn't drink. Like, my mom might get like a wine cooler or something. No, no, no. I got, no, I definitely drank. Did you go to parties in high school? The ones Donnie and him threw.
I went to a couple of parties and definitely got fucked up. There were people who, by the time we got to college, they were already in Alcoholics Anonymous. Like, I've been sober for a year. I can name two, and they were white. I'm, like, sober. One of them were cross-country with me. Like, you're that bad? Yeah. One of them, he was accused of murdering his girlfriend. Mm-hmm. He was just accused, though, right? Did he do it? Do we know? Girl, he used to be drunk at them football games. Yeah, he...
I mean, I don't know if he's still sober, but I know that he people don't want to hear about this. But I know that he was accused of murdering his girlfriend. That's what I do know. Anyways, let's move on. Parole or no parole? We'll see. It seems like she trying to do right work in prison. Is she? Yeah, she's saving lives. Girl, she got about five more lives to save before I will think about it.
I think her mind's gonna be the biggest jail of all. So you see how the families feel and shit like that. But like, I guess it's really up to Mary and how she feel. But like, if Mary finds that forgiveness in her heart, I say let her go. That's a lot of forgiveness. That's a lot of forgiveness.
Yeah, but you forgive for yourself. Yeah, I actually do think that she needs that she can be paroled after serving her time. I do think that getting the murder sentences honestly fit because of you being warned and you having multiple chances. You got multiple car crashes. You've had multiple these. Your license has been suspended multiple times.
Yeah, in 2033, that sounds like a good time to parole her. All right, let's read some reviews and let's get out of here. If you would like to leave us a review, please do. You've gotten to this part of the show, so you might as well stick around. Leave us a review, a five-star review, anywhere that you're listening would be great. If you have the ability to give a written review, that would be even greater.

Hey, y'all, let me start by saying I am not the podcast girly, but me and my coworker was talking about true crime and she put me on. Three days later, I'm in love with the whole concept of this podcast. And I've been binge listening for the past week at school, doing homework everywhere. Y'all are in my ear. And I love, love, love that I ain't do it. But if I did, I do this all the time. And to hear someone else think in the same way as me makes me feel so included. I love this and I'm a forever fan. Thanks, girl. Thanks.
This one is from Mike Wazowski. It says, five stars. Fantastic. Love this podcast. The character intros in the beginning and the trial OJ and the parole debates at the end, give it a uniqueness. I don't see with other pods. Taz and Mara are amazing hosts who really cover cases with honesty and inject their own thoughts in such a great manner. Keep doing what you do. Signed and all.
