Fox Sports Update. American sprinter Sha'Carri Richardson won her first Olympic gold medal of the Paris Games. Richardson helped the U.S. win the 4x100 meter relay. Richardson passed multiple runners in the anchor leg to edge out Great Britain for the gold. Richardson said, "...the moment that I would describe as realizing that when we won as USA ladies, it was a phenomenal feeling for all of us."

However, the U.S. men's 4x100 meter relay team prolonged its run of failing to medal to 20 years. The Americans were disqualified for an illegal baton pass. An American ride, Benjamin took the gold in the men's 400 meter hurdles.

The New England Patriots are releasing wide receiver Juju Smith-Schuster. The 27-year-old was entering the second season of a three-year, $25 million deal. Smith-Schuster had 29 receptions for 260 yards and one touchdown in 11 games last season with the Pats. He spent the first five seasons of his NFL career with the Pittsburgh Steelers before helping the Kansas City Chiefs win Super Bowl LIV.

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones says he feels no urgency to agree to a contract extension with star wide receiver C.D. Lamb. Upon reading Jones' comment on X, Lamb retweeted the post saying LOL, the acronym for Laugh Out Loud.

The three-time Pro Bowler is entering the final season of his rookie deal. Lamb has been away from the team while he seeks an extension. Lamb led the league last season with 135 receptions. He gained 1,749 yards and scored 12 touchdowns. Meanwhile, Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott is entering the final season of a four-year, $160 million deal. The two sides are reportedly unlikely to agree to an extension before the regular season begins. I'm Bob Mortell.
