The start of the NCAA tournament may still be a week away, but March Madness has arrived. Conference tournaments are being played and teams are booking their tickets to the dance. The Big 12 tournament has kicked off and Cincinnati is moving on to the second round. Bearcats defeated Oklahoma State 87-68, getting 18 points and 15 rebounds from junior forward Dylan Mitchell. In the ACC tournament, Notre Dame got by Pittsburgh in the first round, beating the Panthers 55-54 after a controversial foul in the final second led to the game-winning free throw.
In the NFL, the Ravens are adding a weapon for Lamar Jackson as they try and get over the hump in the AFC. According to multiple reports, five-time Pro Bowl wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins is signing a one-year deal with Baltimore. Hopkins spent the 2024 season with the Titans and the Chiefs and joins a Ravens offense that led the NFL in yards per game during the regular season.
In other NFL news, it appears there will be a quarterback competition in Indianapolis. According to multiple reports, Daniel Jones is joining the Colts on a one-year contract worth $14 million. Jones will now compete with Anthony Richardson for the starting job. After Colts general manager Chris Ballard said the team was planning to have an open competition at the position while speaking with the media at the Scouting Combine last month.
And in golf news, 15-time major champion Tiger Woods has had another surgery. Woods underwent minimally invasive surgery today for a ruptured Achilles tendon, suffering the injury as he ramped up his practice and training at home. Woods has not competed in a PGA Tour event this season and last played on the tour at the British Open in July where he missed the cut.
